  • best anti war movie ever, in my opinion

  • going up against elite SS panzer units, adolf hitler leibstandarte and jager comapanies of sharpshooters.

  • This movie takes a giant shit on Saving Private Ryan in my opinion. Not just better or more realistic. A giant shit. The only thing this movie lacked was a bigger budget.

and I like how they portrayed the Germans as confident and menacing soldiers. Someone needs to tell the godamn truth about who we were fighting. In any other movie the Germans are portrayed as inept, which is total bullshit.

  • 0:36-0:50 nice

  • The damn music is taking away the seriousness of the scene.. :S

  • now I know I wanted tubby to take a round

  • Remember, not everything can be band of brothers or saving private ryan in terms of budget but it can tell the same story. That`s all that matters sometimes y`know?

  • Merry Christmas to you too

  • two minutes and nobody dies...say it..u gat to say it...lol

  • alot of Garands but not to many Carbines, shame, it was proboly the best U.S. small arm in the War

  • @lookatthewholepictur Yes but the garand was issued 25- 50 to 1 carbine

  • @SoVObsidian Its actually not a red circle, it's the "bloody bucket" patch as worn by the 28th division infantry in WWII

  • what does the red circle emblem thing on Manning's shoulder mean?

  • Got to agree with the comment below. This is a great war movie. It was made for television, hence the low budget. I'm Aussie but how many Americans know that the Battle for the Hurtgen Forest was the longest battle in US Army history. It also contained a truce between the Yanks and Germans to clear out the dead and wounded. It was a tough fight because the Germans were in their natural element. 2000 years ago the Germans lured three Roman Legions to their destruction in the Teutoburg Forest.

  • 7:31

  • I like the music in the scene

  • who did the subtitles? they put "may day may day" at 7:12 instead of "medic medic"

  • Yes, the subtitles sometimes come out funny, I had the DVD from a 1998 original set( made in China) lying around in my living room, the first time I watched it was on a rainy day in 2007...

  • @NotesCollector there were dvd-s in 1998? O_O

  • Napalm was already in use by the time of this battle. The U.S. should have just burned this whole damned forest to the ground before sending all those guys into that meat grinder!

  • It irritates me a bit that most movies and shows tend to focus on Special Force units are crack outfits. We seem to remember the 101st Airborne and their achievements in Europe. We know all to well about the Army Rangers and the USMC.

But very few people know about the incredible sacrifices and heroic actions that regular units of the US Army made. The 28th Infantry suffered massively in the Death Factory. The 3rd, the 29th and the 30th are also other ordinary Army units that fought very hard.

  • War doesnt determin who is right, only whois left

  • Christ, look at the size of them fucking shells!

  • @WTF1920 88s were bad mfs.

  • ooh.. is that a trap or mine at 5.14?

  • that guy climbed up in 4 ranks over night...regular private to sergeant and he's leading a bunch of rookies on his first day, and then gettin sent in to get his squad shot up again like he lost his squad 2 days earlier would make me react like him for sure, no doubt about it

  • Sarge made his point, the LT hade his point and Medic made his point. Who's right? Only dead know the right one.

  • I am a WWII reenactor and would have loved to have been in this movie.

  • lol 3:39

  • Blut und Ehre!

  • was this a true story like the people like Manning and everyone or is it historical fiction

  • Sanderson is so brave and so inspiring this was when the Army Navy Air force and all our military branches were really strong and iron fisted

  • Fuck you you stupid laplander piece of shit.

  • @Partajehu uh, yeah. Sure you would have.....

  • this guy cant be serious right i mean theres never been a one man army kind of thing since the Lost Battalion those guys were heroes of WW1

  • its funny how some wannabe military experts are trying to discredit the movie. sure not everything is accurate. its a tv production but nevertheless it shows the real horror of war. saving private ryan is not at all accurate and its just hollywood nonsense though it had a huge budget.

when trumpets fade is a great movie

  • Seconded

  • amen.

  • @lokuzzz this was a tv production? wow! I think it's a great movie too.

  • @lokuzzz saving private ryan is a better movie than this, better acting, which the movie show in much more detail the horrors of war, everyone says so, it alos has a realistic story line, wow. why do you think it is talked about so mu8ch, because it is a great and touching movie.

  • it isnt, that movie is very surreal,300% patriotic, but a lot of budget, thats what fools the people and make them think it is a good one,see how many mistakes that movie has over 101 including historical mistakes

  • @luftwaffe91 yes and how would you now it has exactly 101. Obviously it has historical mistakes, but at least it is a good ,movie, if it was to real it would be boring!!! This movie is good, but in my and a lot of other peoples opiniions, SPR is better. And my grandfather was a WW2 Vet and he says the only noticable unrealistic part is the first sniper part, even the plot is a true story.

  • is better cause it had more budget nothing more than that,if you dont believe me about the mistakes read any movie mistakes article

  • @brickfilmproduction1 SPR also it has more stakes than this. And it's unrealistic.

  • @RareCandy999 ask me if i care

  • @brickfilmproduction1

You're full of shit. In SPR a squad of rangers goes through enemy lines, and kills about 30,000 germans to save one guy. Yea, that surely happened and is totally based on a true story....Are you nuts? hahahah

  • @SeppLainer

No. They went through hardship through fucking orders from higher ranks to save some private. Thats what the story's about.

  • @brickfilmproduction1 I don´t agree SPR is a typical Steven Spielberg Fairytale. SPR is unrealistic and dumb. Lots of historical mistakes.

  • @brickfilmproduction1 Saving Private Ryan just had a bigger budget, hence the realistic battle scenes. Other than that it's just Hollywood baloney. But hey, to each his own.

  • @lokuzzz your right give you a thumb up

  • are you crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!not accurate movie......saving private its the best ww2 movies dude

  • @Azeckwazion

Sure but it has inaccuracies like any movie. No movie is perfectly accurate.

  • @Azeckwazion that doesnt make it accurate....

  • @Azeckwazion wow saving private ryan? first scene on the beach verry accurate! the rest of the movie is hollywood bollocks of we are action dolly soldiers who saved the freaking day.

  • @lokuzzz this movie was so much more accurate that SPR

  • @lokuzzz This movie got greatly overshadowed by Saving Private Ryan. I like both this and SPR but oftimes the obvious flaws in Spielberg's film are glossed over by the Hollywood hype. The best part of SPR is the landing at Omaha Beach. Afterwards it goes down from there. When you watch a film just for that sequence and then switch it off afterwards then the movie has definent flaws! I've seen both movies several times. This film is extremely gritty and well made!

  • @gjohnsoningary ihated the omaha scene in spr the innaccuracies bothered me throughout. the rest of the ovie was great though

  • @lokuzzz spr just glorified everything

  • @lokuzzz Saving Private Ryan portraits the first moment the American soldier step on Normandy, that they were just happy with Paris and French, just as how the first part of this movie tells in the opening sequence.

  • @lokuzzz You said it.

  • This movie is terrible, the soldiers carry no ammo, they blow whistles and then walk in a huge standing straight line. Then they walk into a minefield with modern Italian Valmora 69 anti-personnel mines while taking explosions that could be made by a 3rd grader. Awesome

  • The clip thing i can explain, Cold temperatures like that sometimes ruined ammo, So the ammo is in there pockets or vests.

  • Just look at their uniforms, at most a cartridge belt. And its not the cold given how that makes no sense, its fouling from things getting into magazines or ice getting inside enbloc clips, bandoliers would be fine. And these guys are clearly not wearing the new fangled "assault vests" issue for the normandy landings, so once again, wrong.

  • I wasent trying to be a dick, I was just trying to help make sense to it.

  • First its a Landmine m43 but anyway, they got ammo in their pouches may be? AND YES THEY DID WALK IN A STRAGITH LINE AGAINST TH FRONT, EVER HEARD ABOUT THE BATTLE OF THE HURTGEN FOREST?

  • Sorry but that aint how it works. At one point they were on the road relaxing and eating chow, then suddenly thats a stone's throw from a minefield and the frontline? Doubt they would be sitting on top of a pillbox smoking withing pistol shot of the enemy. Not to mention that the Germans supposedly had artillery out there with the infantry a mile behind? Stupidest thing Ive ever seen, even some call of duty playing highschooler would know not to leave their artillery unguarded.

  • What "Therir Artillery"? You mean that the amercians did know that the germans had artillery? Yes sure but it is not sure if the germans even know their positions and the americans sure have some gurad posts in the foirest who would warn them if the germans would try to locate thier postion for artillery fire. And If the mines explode, the germans know where to put the artillery fire on. I dont know what your problem is dude.

  • The movie says that their infantry is a mile away from the artillery, no army would ever leave their artillery unguarded like that. You watch, they eat chow, smoke and brief about the 'attack' from the road, but the minefield and enemy lines are right in front of it, people arent so stupid as to stand on top of pillbox in middle of a road within 100yards of the enemy, or to have their command post and resupply be on the frontline, even in the Hurtgen forest this is absurd.

  • Well about how stupid people are in war cenarios, we bother dont know becuase we have never been in one. But I guess, if you got a whole battlaion of 300men preparing for a attack, you got a 0.33 chance that you are the unlucky cow who gets hit if the germans would make a surpirse attack =)

  • Well I have both been in similar situations and am a student of military history; nothing about this movie is very accurate. The artillery pieces and tanks have no recoil, the shooting sounds are terrible, this is just an all around terrible movie.

  • Guess what, how lucky you are to find a guy who does the same =)

And the only thing you need to mess it up in war is a bad oficer giving the troops a bad order. as easy as that.

  • at this point in the war, germany did not have old men and kids on the front but seasoned veterans. problem is that there werent many left and were needed elsewhere along the front. artillery was unguarded because they simply didnt have enough man power to guard it, and there was no barrage so they didnt know an attack was coming

  • This was just before the Battle of the Bulge and some of the units that got hammered in the Hurtgen Forest were sent to the Ardennes for R & R and refitting. Ended up being the first to smacked around by the Germans when they launched their offensive. How's that for damned unlucky??

  • look nato has good equipment ok u think what? is easy to get money? nato is great ok and they have a cause of fite ok. in my coutry our army now has some equipment wich use it bets than much coutries we learn much thing in first day cus u find friends and good comanders they make us work a lot so thats a good C O. even way nato is greta and has good equipment united states isnt everything i like states great country but think about others ok good luck for all enjoy the movie
  • I'm so suprised that even though this is a movie no one stepped on a Bouncing Betty till quite awhile. But I'm sure that was just to build suspence during the movie.

  • Sanderson kind of looks like the medic from Saving Private Ryan

  • no way. Giovanni Ribisi is the medic in saving private Ryan. I know because he is in a couple of good movies.

  • this movie is pretty cool...it's sort of different from other war movies, and band of brothers, etc...

  • LOL...join the Marines. SEMPER FI

  • Lol. It doesn't matter how weak the country is I'm never joining the army EVER. I'd rather get slaughtered then join that deathtrap.

  • Pretty much the same thing, man.

  • you can get slaughtered in the army, so what difference is it going to make?

  • you'd rather get slaughtered than defend yourself... how honourable

  • Joining the US Armed Forces is like selling your soul for 5 years, and mostly poor criminals seem to join.

I had 11 month draft in Sweden in 2008. It was intensive, good training, no Iraq bullshit. The US soldiers get less combat training in their 5 years on average than the Swedish soldier gets in 11-15 months, and we have no NATO standardised equipment which is all crap because it should be universal.

  • what did you in the army?

  • Check my Channel.

  • war is scary im sure most of you would have the same reactions as those replacements. scared and screaming your head off because everyone around you is being blown up and you cant fight back all you can do is run forward and hope you dont get blown up

  • yes bah everybody would be afraid its just that i dont like him

  • that sanderson buddy is such a fag

  • no, I like the way he acts. Not everybody is heroes, hes just scared...I think you would be that too...

  • and Im sure youd be the exact same as you are whilst sitting at a computer screen as you would be in world war 2. fucking moron.

  • @ ScarsOfTheCrucifix

If you're commenting on what Merroppp has said... Doesn't that mean you're watching and doing the exact same thing? Just a guess.

  • no. and it wasnt to merrop. it was to a guy below who said 'the fat guy is an idiot'. implying that he (who to comment would be sitting at a pc screen) would be fearless in war.

  • Just making sure, sorry about that

  • Maybe he has been. I know you haven't.

  • hahahaha he did fall

  • :D :D :D

  • 3:38 LOL!! One fells down the hill and screams!?!?`!!!!

  • @JSLegoMaster Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha That was hilarious. He was like Dooh!

  • They gotta change the music

  • @ AltarRS What did you have in mind?

  • A BEAUTY

  • lmao at 3:38 some guy in the background falls down the hill and yells

  • 7:00 it's "medic" "medic" not "may day may day"...where's the rest of the film anyway? May Day?..hey everyone bombs are blowing us apart everywhere it must be may day

  • hey its Hitman

  • yea timothy olephant also jeffery donovan is in this too

  • "Spread out, spread out, don't bunch!" ...and after 5 seconds, "stay together, stay together!". What gives?

  • Cant wait ti see the rest of this film! Thank you!

  • awesome! keep posting.
