I remember going to school back then, in 1998, and it was the first time I halfway seriously learned some facts about football and the teams, because everybody was talking about the World Cup.

When it came to the quarter-finals, a classmate of mine said, Brasil will be kicked out by Denmark, and I could hardly believe that because Brasil was the odds-on favorite and Denmark was such a small country.

And then they went and really almost beat Brasil. That was great!

@AnderssenVP I remember being at Idrætsparken just before Denmark entered the 1984 EC. We met Bulgaria and Michael Laudrup aged 18 scored one of his first goals for Denmark in the 1-0 victory. That was my first national football experience and I have followed the team ever since. 1998 was only the fourth best championship experience in my opinion after 1992 (shocking), 1984 (Danish Dynamite was ignited) and 1986 (most of the world had Denmark as favourites after the group stage in WC Mexico).

what the referees allowed the opponents of Ronaldo to do to him in this game (1:52) was criminal. The referees should have been punished. We all lost as a result when Ronaldo was injured later on due to this kind of despicable refereeing (see the Holland Semifinal) None of his Brazilian teamates stand up for him either which is infuriating. Ronaldo never really recovered his form all the way although still unbelievably talented from his injury to this day. Imagine.

when the whistle doesn't blow, they are trained to play on, else if the brazilians argued with the ref, the danes could easely run through less players, which ment for the danes a greater chance from to score on. thats why they let the game go on.
