HAHAH if its so simple then DAMN there must be some STUPID people out there since I seem to get offers all the time for jobs since I am a rare breed of installer! I want to see your "local parts store" put one in HAHAHAHA! Clearly knows nothing about what he was talking about! DUCH BAG ALERT!!!!!!!!
Its a small computer that sends a signal to your ECM? LOL dude really, why post a video on something that you clearly know nothing about?
This is exactly what gives remote starters a bad name in the industry, especially when we tell the customer that install will be a few hours on some cars.
its not as simple as he states, especially on new cars, it basically duplicates what your key does only without turning the key, it powers up the ignition circuit(to turn on fuel pump, injectors, computers etc, powers up the accessory circuit for heat/ac power, and send signal to the starter circuit, but its a lot more complex then this "certified mechanic" states, also ant good brand runs 10-20 minutes depending on how your installer programs it, ive never seen one onlt work 5-6 minutes
Anyone can recommend a good 2-way remote starter that has a nice LCD screen and has good range? This is for the 2010 4Runner. Can I install that one myself?
@nya13 really the kind you get depends on what you want/need in the remote start unit. yes you can do it yourself just make sure you understand everything before jumping into it. let me know if you need more info.
Thanks for your reply, I can think of many practical uses for a remote controlled operation on my own vehicle.. but not on the starter mechanism.....not sure whether it is legal in the UK.
I saw one of these remote ignition starters whilst in America but could not imagine why in the world would you need one, especially for domestic use. Quite novel nonetheless.... useful when you are in a hurry i suppose.

So you won't need your ignition key when you use a remote car starter. What happens if you have lojack?
