So i am totally that guy and help prolong the bruin walk stereotype lol... And i dont care if your faking being on the phone, your hands are full, or your blasting your music rocking the aviators... you'll take my flier and like it lol . Its my ability to talk a million miles an hour with my immunity to rejection that allows me to talk to EVERY single person that walks by.
... This is not just UCLA. This is totally reminiscent of Berkeley's Sproul Plaza. One person actually opened someone's backpack after stopping them and tossed in a flyer.
LMAO! this is soo true. If I have to go down bruin walk I hold my bag with one hand, cell phone in the other...hahah and the handshake guy...I walk away fast when I see him...LMAO.
Awesome. I still remember the dude on Bruin walk who would just shout up rhetoric in broken English... "Bill Crinton! Liar! Mickey Mouse! Liar! Happy happy happy!"
From someone who started at UCLA in 1989...plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
Reminds me of a Bruin-grad comedian I saw perform one night in Kerckhoff who proudly talked of having founded his own religion while a UCLA student, one in which he and his apostles stood at the top of Bruin Walk and collected the fliers from people that they'd had foisted on them over the prior 100 yards. Hysterical.
Oh the handshake guy... I was walking out of Ackerman the other day, I saw him trying to shake the hand of one prospective victim (who ignored him and escaped very quickly). Then there was me... I walked away from him, and the handshake guys was like "young man, you dropped something!" I turned around, glared at him, and moved on.
Funnier, I am one of "those people" handing out fliers sometimes. MTV stuff, and promoting Local Music. Google Rayzing Sons, a Local LA act that I am trying to get a gig to play at UCLA.
SOOOO TRUEEEEE!!!

ROFL...This is so disturbingly true.
I manage to avoid the flyers by combining sunglasses, an mp3 player, and occasionally also a cell phone on bad days.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention about the Black guy.
Love it.
But... Who THE HELL is he?
I have seen the real Black guy for my 4th year now, and I have never figured out what is it that he does.
