Can you plz tell me how can i get the WAVEFORM in my CDJ SCREENS while playing music from the SERATO SL3? THANKS!
LOVE Pioneers, they utilize EVERYTHING u dont need to buy seperate things you just buy a PIONEER and it does what you need it to do.... no questions asked
Hey Guys! this video instruction is great! it was made 10 months ago and you said there would be another video with using Serato SL. I have the 900s using 3.00 firmware..Im waiting on this next video to see exactly how you have the 900s set up. right now, I have both 900s connected to the Laptop via USB cable. SSL does work very well, but freezes if something or someone bumps the usb cables, then the SSL Freezes and a reboot us required :(
that is great but ive been looking everywhere for someone to explain to me about HOT CUES, is it like the CDJ 1000 and you can only save 3 hotcues. Can you now set them per track? and what is there a button to refresh the hotcues when you change songs??
i have a problem with rekordbox 1.4.1 i've got a Sony Vaio intel core i7 laptop computer running windows 7 (64bit edition) when i double click it nothing happens but rekordbox 1.2.4 works fine any suggestions?
notice at the beginning standing the DJM 2000 between the CDJs, and then afterwards at mixing the DJM 800 which doesn't support direct linking to recordbox :D
I have the 900. To use rekord box with the 2 decks and 1 computer do I need to use a LAN hub? Is it possible to use 1 computer, rekord box and 2 CDJ 900's?
Currently I'm using a 500GB HDD and preparing playlists. It works fine, but of course, if it's possible to have less hassle I'll go with the LAN set up.
Hey pioneer guys, what about implementing a sync feature that will enable me to sync my flashdrives with my library automatically when I plug them in. This would be a very useful feature because I that way I wouldn't always have to transfer the files manually. Also it would be great if the library could by synced for example with one playlist in iTunes.
@ChannelRVB, The 850 does not have the link feature so you can't connect to rekordbox via LAN. The 850 is still rekordbox ready for pre prepared USB keys.
@pioneerdjsounds ... I just bougt a pair of cdj-900. I have serato ssl1 but i already tried everything to make it work like in this video. i even follow the instructions of minute 4:35 and nothing. can somebody help. Do i need to download the firmware in order to work?? Or can somebody send me a link to a video. Or can somebody make a video step by step serato with cdj900s.. thanks
I have just got my new cdj 350 with rekordbox but it seems to me that i can only use rekordbox to transfer tracks to a USB device and then play on the cdj.Why didnt they make this software to work directly with all compatible cdj.eg loading a track str8 from the laptop and control it from the cdj
okay if im not using serato and just want to use my pc and rekordbox as a database and dont have a djm 2000 i need a LAN hub? okay so once i get a LAN hub do i connect my pc by ethernet cable or by usb cable???
but how can i both link my 2 cdj 900s AND link my PC via LAN hub?? theres only only LAN hub per cdj 900.....is it possible to connect recordbox to my cdj VIA USB cable??
I'm still using Serato due to the decks in clubs, but I have used the link mode with my 2000's and it is great. Direct digital no analog lag time. I was going to sleep, but after seeing this I will have to flash my decks with 3.1, get a redbull and try them with serato!
Might even document...
Pioneer should keep working on rekordbox and it can become the new serato....
i prefer the CDJ2000's to flash RED when they are used as a midi controller is there anyway to change them from WHITE without downgrading them to version 3.00? BLUE would look nice but i dont suppose that the blue led's are included.
F**K Serato, must be annoying for pioneer to have to cater to it!! Not sure why they are even bothering! All you need is Rekordbox at home, suss ya loops, cues then copy to USB drive and go to the club...sorted
I think DJ's just have to make a choice, Midi Controller + Mac, CD's Or Vinyl.
Until these are in every club everyone's going to have issues.
I play out alot and most places have 1000's/800's, also no room or power supply's for your laptop and midi controllers, alot of place don't have 1210's if your using serato.
My advice is stick to CD's until your a well known DJ, where the clubs will bend over backwards to accommodate your gear.
All sounds great!!!! , but how are the tracks loaded from Rekordbox to the cdj's?. Are controlled via midi (djm 2000) or do you manually click and drag from your laptop?.
@laidbackchuck1 You can access your rekordbox Library on the CDJs, just as as you can browse and access music on a USB or SD-Card, or CD. Or you can use your laptop and drag and drop tracks onto numbered icons of the decks.
@reschla You can connect two CDJs directly together, but if you want to connect your laptop too, or more than two CDJs, then you need a LAN hub. Any standard hub will work, but we advise using a dedicated one for your system. Don't use your home internet router. Keep two separate systems.
@reschla I would recomend a switch instead of a hub. They essentially do the same thing, but switches have more bandwidth available to use as switches transfer information back and forth between destinc ports on the switch. Hubs on the other hand send all information to all addresses on the network at once. It's kind of like a crowded room of people talking. Everyone talks at once, and you can hear everyone at once. But a switch is like a phone conversation. Point to Point.
@reschla as pioneerjdsounds says DON'T connect directly to your home network. You need to have a separate network for the CDJs/Rekordbox as they do put through a lot of information, and it will bring your home network down to a crawl. If you have to have them on the network at home, get yourself a decent internet router, and install the WAN of the router onto your home network, and then the LAN sections of the router as a dedicated network for the Pioneers/Rekordbox setup.
Ok, so I have my external drive with my music collection that I use for DJing (all categorized in proper directories and with prepared .asd files and Numark Database as I use Numarks aswell). When I try to analyze content on the drive with Rekordbox it keeps creating copies of my music in x:\Contents\* - but I don't need that. I just want to have my files analized and ready to use with CDJ's - not copied to the same drive again. Why it does that?
When you import and analyze tracks it's not a feature that rekordbox copies the music. Rekordbox requires you to export the music and database to an external storage device for use on the players. We recommend using a dedicated external drive or SD-Card for this, or you will have duplicates on the same drive. Or if you use rekordbox Link, you can play the music stored on your existing drive, without needing to export and create copies.
@pioneerdjsounds OK, so let me get this straight, is it possible to use rekordbox as if it were serato, in that you can drag a song onto the left or right deck on your laptop, and it will appear on the CDJ as a playable track? But to do this you need the new firmware, and you need to usb link the laptop to the cdj, and link one cdj to the other cdj and you're ready to go right? is there anyting I missed?
@reschla Yes, that's correct, except your laptop connects with the CDJs via the LAN hub, so your USBs are free for use with controllers or hard drives, etc. rekordbox basically makes your computer appear as a Linked drive on the CDJ. You can also use rekordbox to find your tracks and drag and drop onto the players. You can even drag and drop straight from your iTunes library using the Bridge pane in rekordbox. No soundcards required and just one cable.
Thank you. That is exactly what I ment. So you can't really keep your own directory structure (apart from ID3) on an external drive, because rekordbox makes it's own structure /Contents/Artist/Album/* upon export. In that case using one drive for both CDJs and Ableton performances don't really make sense. Dedicated drive for Pioneer is only reasonable option. That's kind of shame because Numark managed to store waveforms and tracks database on an existing directory structure.
Can you use Ableton Live's .asd files with warp markers information to import beat grids into the Rekordbox (so I don't have to warp my collection all over again)? I don't use CDJ's but I will create rokordbox database just in case I need to use one. Great that this software is available for free.
Yes you can use rekordbox and prepare all of your cue points and loops and optimised waveforms, etc. and you can use your USB key on the CDJ-350, CDJ-900 and CDJ-2000.
@pioneerdjsounds is there any plans to have a converter program that converts traktor library into rekordbox? some people spent hours and hours preparing tracks in traktor (grids) already , it would be nice if theres some sort of tool to convert them all making the transition into rekordbox easier - so we dont have to bring our laptops anymore!
@pioneerdjsounds I like the fact you replied "Currently" hope to see it soon. I own Traktor at home, but some clubs are going towards CDJ2000's, I wanted to benefit all the work I put in to my collection, without having to redo everything in Rekord box. hopefully soon.
@djY2Kev It's not possible, or at least not a stable way of working to add new non-standard data to the MP3 file. ID3 tags are the standard for adding additional data to the file, but this doesn't include dedicated space for Beatgrids, Waveforms, etc. None of the major applications, like Ableton, Traktor, or Serato write data to the file. They nearly al create a database and store the additional information in a designated folder. rekordbox copies this data when you export to USB or SD.
