Why is it that if a child lives with their natural parents and the child dies as a result of abuse or neglect it usually takes hours for an investigation to be completed and people to be arrested...but if the child is in the Children's Aid Society and the child dies as a result of neglect or abuse it often takes YEARS until there is an investigation? (If any) Why? Did you also know that NO body can investigate CAS, including the Ombudsman of Ontario?

Only chronic alcoholics and life long drug addicts can be homeless in Toronto for more than a month, normal people get a job, work their asses off and get a house.

In Toronto being homeless is a choice not an obligation like in many countries where there are no jobs and the economy is in the gutter.

I like the fact that most people who are homeless fully admit to being chronic alcoholics and life long drug addicts (which means they choose to be on the streets). This means we have a substance abuse problem and not really a homeless problem...Treat the disease, don't treat the symptom!

The problem is psychology of these guys, it isn't problem in society or government. For him is "better to clean windshields than to wear a suit", what a retarded attitude... that's their choice and life decision., In my country average wages are 300$ on month and social assistance is 70$. Family need 600-700$ on month for living costs, unemployment is 20%, and people here would like to live in Canada with such a standard of living, some people just don't know to respect their opportunities.

Foster care and group homes in North America are nothing more than a money making racket for city and county. These kids are stolen from their natural homes and put into situations where they are provided the least amount of care and education. At 16 they get chucked out of "the system" with no marketable skills and trust issues toward those in that same system that could help them.

just one more thing. Mike Harris cut social assistance by 22% because of lazy asses like them living off of it. They were costing tax payers millions. As soon as welfare was cut. Thousands of people had to get a job and contribute.

But they could have atleast gotten a fast food job and built up there career from there instead of ditching life. Alot of homeless teens are runaways aswell. heyyy theres a toronto hydro truck! Man I want to work for them when I graduate college. Its sad there are soo many homeless in toronto, but I'm sure with alot of volunteers giving their time instead of money we can help these people and change their lives for the better! Thats what I plan to do when I live there. Everyone should follow suit.

hey if you want off the streets & want more for your life.. there is help & hope. Youth For Christ's "light patrol" brought me to a place where I could change my life Freedom Village U.S.A in NY... I lived on the streets as a self mutilating, homeless junkie for years in Toronto, slept on rooftops, fire-escapes, in grange park.. all over Toronto, Hamilton, etc...There is help for those who want it, your life is worth more!

@sunrizehag :good story,i have been homeless by myself for 1,5 years after my lost of my parents gamblingbut i never begged for money,kept myself clean(water and soap is free)nicked food from the fields(corn,vegables)nicked egs from chickenfarms charity shopsand churches for free warm meals..in one way i alwys thought it will be alright.i got a cleaning job for 20 hours a week and quick after it i got my room work now fulltime for myself (selling herbalife)get people from the str to help them
