I was just there today and met this dude. What is a GriGri and why is it dangerous what he's doing? I loved climbing and want to learn from people that know what they are talking about :)
Wouldn't it be more helpful to show how to belay someone using an ATC? Most new climbers aren't sporting gri gri's. Heck, I don't even have a gri gri.
You shall all know this guy is not doing it right if you are using you gri gri this way you have to stop using it. Go to Petzl and a read the instructions for the gri gri and also go to a gym and learn it the right way. This video shod not even be on you tube.
Spero che quella troia di tua moglie almeno sappia fare i pompini, se no stai messo veramente male!!!Scala su roccia coglionazzo da V0 e smettila di dispensare consigli inutili per gente inutile...
I AM a beginnner climber...so what I'm watching looks a lot like what i learned today. in fact, i just looked at a dozen tutorials on line and they are all different. where can i find one for grigri technique i can trust, because i didn't think my live instruction was very good.
there are videos that show you the basics (including the classic and new technique)
But this is not an instructional video on the website... there should be Petzl dealers close to you that are authorized from Petzl... they might have training locations for you where certified trainers help you learn how to handle the grigri the right way
Okay dude ---> No beginner climber is going to know you are using a grigri! And NEVER let go of the brake hand! Stop with these stupid videos please they arent helping anyone!!
Lol, I use a basic belay device.. with just the two holes and a karabiner to my harness. I always use two hands to lower someone down, so that one acts as a stopper if they suddenly swing and u lose control of the rope
@Chloilas This is not relevant beaus this is a gri gri. This you maybe know now after 7 months but anyhow. With the gri gri you release the brake with one hand and have the other hand on the rope for extra braking if needed.
@Andakar First you shall not have the gri gri in a tilt as this guy have, you shall have it straight out from your body or the gri gri may fail to brake in a fall. For the second you have a piece of metal on the right side on the gri gri that is rounded. When you are descending the rope shall be over this part.
If you don’t properly know how you use it don't. And go to a gym and learn it the right way
@Andakar It is basic. If you have the Gri Gri twisted as this dude have the locking operation on the Gri Gri may fail due to its not pulling the brake strait up, And if you look closer on the petzl site you se that in the video the dude have the Gri Gri strait up in 90 degrees from his body never twisted all the time as this dude have in this youtube video.
@SaschaKarilampi If you are a climber using the GriGri you might have seen that he is using a climbing belt that has not the typical ring attachment point as many other climbing belts have... this one has a horizontal one... and he is using a combined anchor point at the ground togehter with a daisy-chain... but most important for the propper function of the GriGri is that the rope is leaving the device in a straight line... and that the device is not being blocked by any other piece of gear
Sascha, please recheck on both videos by watching them in full screen (the one on Petzl-site and this one) and have an eye on both types of harness... and believe me... I know how to use a GriGri because I had training together with certified trainers in the gym I am training at... the belt decides how the device is being placed
This is wrong in so many ways it hurts my eyes...
