@iceflame5 Probably because you didn't try to enter the way to the final boss fight without sufficient stars. You got enough to challenge Bowser, but you never tried to go after him, without enough. That staircase, if you didn't have enough you would run up them forever.

The first time I played this I wondered how they did it. I decided that because the paintings loop, it must actually be you moving backwards every once in a while. Messed with the camera for a while and eventually broke it enough to make it face down the stairs, and sure enough, after a few steps you just moved back down to the bottom.

This game made me into who I am today.
