Edith was being so crazy in this scene in the kitchen. I guess she just lost it knowing what was going to come out of Gloria's mouth next, even a rational person would lose it over hearing this.
mike is such a douche bag telling archie to stay out of it. thats his god damn daughter, i would be extremely pissed off if someone told me to stay out of it and that was my kid
I wanted to cry... I know what it's like when you have a sofa that just doesn't fit the tone of the room, it sticks out like a sore thumb and you know that there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
Upon reflection, this may have been the most sociologically significant episode of the show. The episode first ran on March 17, 1973 (per IMDB). At the time what the detective described was the courtroom norm.
Rape shield laws did not exist anywhere until one year later when Michigan enacted the first law to protect victims from courtroom abuse.
We may never know but this show may have shed light on the problem and some change came about as a result.
ArrogantCancerian-SO true... and somehow All In The Family manages to use humor in the most unlikely situations that would otherwise be FAR too heavy for the show.
my dad is predicting I'll merry a "meathead" because my dad is kinda like Archie

poor gloria & edith :( that's the problem with some men they think it's okay to do whatever they want, even terrorizing innocent women.

I had more sympathy for Edith when she was attacked. Gloria is too much of a mouthy bitch to feel sorry for.

Edith said Mabel Hefner bought a new sofa. I thought Barney Hefner's wife's name was Blanche.
