  • Wow!!! Where can I get the MP3 download>>

  • This version is beautiful. A common interpretation of this song is that describes Shaka the Lion, a warrior Zulu king, who heroically resisted the armies of the European colonizers. He is supposed not to be dead but only sleeping and will one day awaken and return to lead his oppressed people to freedom.

  • Beautiful

  • Love this version of the song. Granted the group, Straight with No Chaser, has a good version, but there is just something about this one that is more moving.

  • Debbie Charles is the first soloist. Sandra the second.

  • Simply Beautiful.

  • maravilha!!!

  • Its a grat Musik I Love it !!!!!!!!

  • does any 1 now where i can get the National Anthem ladysmith black mambazo i cant find it anywhere socan some 1 help plz

  • I also remember the Spike Lee program on PBS. This version of "The Lion Sleeps" is simply shimmering.

  • damn... and here i was thinking this was a long lost dream... i was in elementary when the show aired on television... i been searchin' for this show or any songs from it for ages... friends thought i was making this show up lmao... thanks and much appreciation to the uploader from hawaii!!!

  • The 'lead soprano' is Sandra Charles of the Mint Juleps. Search under Mint Juleps and watch the Paul Poundstone show video; they go through all their first names. IIRC, they trade off the lead a bit in this song, but the main one is Sandra. This song is video'd under "Spike Lee & Co Do it A Capella 11" but when you click it, it says this video is no longer available. :(

  • @jonskerr this video is now available on youtube

  • This is so beautiful. Pure music with soul.

  • Okay - this is superb. Who is the soprano lead

on this song? Full name please? Also, I did not

find a live performance version of this song

at this site. Is there one? I like the soprano lead

and want to see the performance, visually in action.
