Being bright light it is harmful for your eyes in the long run - especially because you cannot see it's intensity. Don't look inside the light source!
I love seeing the world through infra-red.. notice there is no shadow blur. all shadows are infinitely sharp across infinite distances. If the sun was only infra-red and we could see in infra-red, you could see a shadow of a helicopter and it'd be as if it's hovering 1 meter behind you - even closer :P
@super6plx the only reason that is true here is because the kinect uses a laser. any wavelength of light coming from a laser would do the same thing, the fact that it's IR has nothing to do with it.
@super6plx it's not about infrared, it's due to having a monochromatic lightsource and thus there is not different diffraction angle. If you filter 632 nm and look what is left, you'll only see red without blurring ie diffraction.

thats amazing, but tbh if it measures all those points on you, the games should enable far more specificity like finger motion etc

@NeoSlayerX5 It does! look at the related video's. Kinect - fingertip detection.

@NeoSlayerX5 It probably comes down to hardware/software limitations.
