@VVonchop That's more about the nostalgic feeling here. The same tune with a sort of "videogame" finish can be more entertaining than a cleaner remix. Daytona is a good example ; see also Earthworm Jim, Dune and other early CD games which have both a chiptune and an orchestral soundtrack.
between this and the saturn remix sega must have told him to brush up on his pronounciation, as here its "rorring start" compared to the saturns remix clearly sung as "rolling start" still fuckin awesome though.
This sounds primitive yes, it's done on Model 2's sound chip (which was unchanged from Model 1). The Saturn version had the advantage of streaming studio-quality music from the CD. That said, this sounds MUCH MUCH cooler, I mean listen to the 20 or so Takenobus during the "aaaaahhhh"s! The arcade versions of "Let's Go Away", "Sky High" and "Pounding Pavement" just blow the home versions away. They sound like ultra-high-quality Genesis music with great synthetic vocal effects.
in all honesty this isnt bad, however i expected the arcade version to sound much better than the saturn/dreamcast/pc versions. idk what it is but im not feeling this one as much, its too primitive.
The Saturn version's songs were re-recorded with real instruments (from what I've read). Also, by this time, home systems were pretty much superior to the arcade versions.
i understand where your coming from. idk its just already preset i guess for me to think that the sound, graphics are superior in the arcade versions. i mean older games like form the late 80s and early 90s... today the home systems are far better your right.
@abaddon5 yikes, gonna have to disagree there. Arcade hardware was generally an entire generation ahead of home consoles. When Sega Super GT came out in 1996 it featured graphics that even rivaled the PS2... and the N64 was released the same year. PS1 and Saturn could do 3D with texture quality similar to the arcade version of Daytona USA, but could come nowhere near matching its flawless frame rate.

What the living hell O_O. I've never heard this, usually the arcade versions of music are more elaborate or better arranged or produced, The Saturn was 100% better then this crap.
I disagree. The Saturn version is nice, but sounds a little too muddy. This has a crisper sound to it. I do like that the bass drum in the Saturn version has a little more kick though.
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRTT!!!!!! ROLLING STAaaaaaAAART!! Du du Du Du Aaaaaaaaaaaahh....aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaaaaaah.....aaaaaaaaah du du du du aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.....aaaaahhhh aaaaaaaaaahhhhh.....aaaaaaahhhh aaaaaaaaaa..........aaaaaaaaaa (repeated several times).
Is there anyway to turn down just the sound effects on a Daytona machine? The sound of the car's engine is so loud you can't hear the music or the voices (at least on emulator). Maybe the speaker setup on the cabinets is better.
Yeah, not only the vocals but the CD version sounded cleaner and had the kick of bass. But the other arcade songs kicked ass sooo much I would have danced all night listening to this.
I like this version as well as the other ones with their interesting variations of being a good set up of what's to come as the player continues on and steps up to the more challenging courses. The arcade ed. is pretty basic and with the tech they had at the time, it did it's job. With the main Saturn/ "CD" ed., it's much cleaner and had alot more "intruments" for it. The Champ ed, went a couple steps back, being old school gamey and the DC ed. REALLY remixed it that sounded pretty good.
Just every song from the arcade version of "Daytona USA" is better than the Saturn/PC versions. The home versions just sounded flat and didn't have that kick of bass. The songs are still good, but the arcade versions are better, almost by leaps and bounds.
No, I disagree with that. Only the Sega Saturn version of "The King Of Speed" is better than the AC version. Other than that, the arcade songs sounded better than the Saturn/PC versions.
This arcade machine was so gangsta back in its day. I remember seeing the HUGE TV screen variants in mini-golf/arcade locales as a kid and watched in awe as my dad and uncle raced one another through those huge arcade screens-- still one of the coolest things I remember as a kid to this day. As well as the infamous Rolling Start music intro!
Actually, what they did on the Sega Saturn was use the (slightly changed) synthesized music tracks for Takenobu Mitsuyoshi to sing on again, and they called the result "CD audio". The result was inferior to the original music.

but it's obvious the arcade track had to work with a certain audio. so it's good in its own way.
