  • RORRING STAAAAAAAA

  • ROARING START :p

  • You guys are faggots. Composition matters more than the technology of the sound chip.

  • @VVonchop Hallelujah! Finally someone who's talking sense here. That's exactly how I feel about the soundtrack mixes, too.

  • @VVonchop That's more about the nostalgic feeling here. The same tune with a sort of "videogame" finish can be more entertaining than a cleaner remix. Daytona is a good example ; see also Earthworm Jim, Dune and other early CD games which have both a chiptune and an orchestral soundtrack.

  • you can take him! try to go easy on the car! your burning the tyres!

  • @binnieb20 YOU CAN TAKE HIM

  • this really reminds of the classic sonic games. Stardust Speedway anyone?

  • I like the saturn version a little better

  • i used to always think it said groooowwwing SAAAAAAAAAAAND

  • between this and the saturn remix sega must have told him to brush up on his pronounciation, as here its "rorring start" compared to the saturns remix clearly sung as "rolling start" still fuckin awesome though.

  • ROERING STARRRR

Gotta love the Japanese inability to pronounce the letter "L" :D

  • Hey WAAAIT A MINUTE.... This is where the 2P START LIVE theme song came from!

  • "3... 2... 1... GO!!"

    "And they're underway!"

  • This sounds primitive yes, it's done on Model 2's sound chip (which was unchanged from Model 1). The Saturn version had the advantage of streaming studio-quality music from the CD. That said, this sounds MUCH MUCH cooler, I mean listen to the 20 or so Takenobus during the "aaaaahhhh"s! The arcade versions of "Let's Go Away", "Sky High" and "Pounding Pavement" just blow the home versions away. They sound like ultra-high-quality Genesis music with great synthetic vocal effects.

  • Rorring start!

  • in all honesty this isnt bad, however i expected the arcade version to sound much better than the saturn/dreamcast/pc versions. idk what it is but im not feeling this one as much, its too primitive.

  • MGoffer:

The Saturn version's songs were re-recorded with real instruments (from what I've read). Also, by this time, home systems were pretty much superior to the arcade versions.

  • i understand where your coming from. idk its just already preset i guess for me to think that the sound, graphics are superior in the arcade versions. i mean older games like form the late 80s and early 90s... today the home systems are far better your right.

  • @abaddon5 yikes, gonna have to disagree there. Arcade hardware was generally an entire generation ahead of home consoles. When Sega Super GT came out in 1996 it featured graphics that even rivaled the PS2... and the N64 was released the same year. PS1 and Saturn could do 3D with texture quality similar to the arcade version of Daytona USA, but could come nowhere near matching its flawless frame rate.

  • Lol, the beginnnig is totally off tune

  • Three Seven Speedway needs to be in Sonic and Sega All-Stars racing.

  • gotta love the arcade version though, "Wolling staaaaaaaaart!"

  • I disagree. The Saturn version is nice, but sounds a little too muddy. This has a crisper sound to it. I do like that the bass drum in the Saturn version has a little more kick though.

  • ROLLLING STAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ROLLLING STaaaaAAAARRRRRTTT!!

  • ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRTT!!!!!! ROLLING STAaaaaaAAART!! Du du Du Du Aaaaaaaaaaaahh....aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaaaaaah.....aaaaaaaaah du du du du aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.....aaaaahhhh aaaaaaaaaahhhhh.....aaaaaaahhhh aaaaaaaaaa..........aaaaaaaaaa (repeated several times).
  • Is there anyway to turn down just the sound effects on a Daytona machine? The sound of the car's engine is so loud you can't hear the music or the voices (at least on emulator). Maybe the speaker setup on the cabinets is better.

  • No, there is no way to tone down the engine's sounds, unfortunately.

  • Meh, the Saturn version is better. I'm just not feeling the song as much here.

  • Yeah, not only the vocals but the CD version sounded cleaner and had the kick of bass. But the other arcade songs kicked ass sooo much I would have danced all night listening to this.

  • I like this version as well as the other ones with their interesting variations of being a good set up of what's to come as the player continues on and steps up to the more challenging courses. The arcade ed. is pretty basic and with the tech they had at the time, it did it's job. With the main Saturn/ "CD" ed., it's much cleaner and had alot more "intruments" for it. The Champ ed, went a couple steps back, being old school gamey and the DC ed. REALLY remixed it that sounded pretty good.

  • I prefer the more traditional "video game" sound of this original, but the vocals on the second version are much better.

  • its weird how this song never get old

  • ROLLING STAAAAAAAAART!! ROLLING STAAAaaaaaaaaRT!!

  • very cool"!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol lol

  • Just every song from the arcade version of "Daytona USA" is better than the Saturn/PC versions. The home versions just sounded flat and didn't have that kick of bass. The songs are still good, but the arcade versions are better, almost by leaps and bounds.

  • There really should have been an option to choose which version of the audio you wanted to hear.

  • No, I disagree with that. Only the Sega Saturn version of "The King Of Speed" is better than the AC version. Other than that, the arcade songs sounded better than the Saturn/PC versions.

    ROLLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Arcade feeling all the way, man. ;P

  • Strange how the singer's pitch is slightly higher in this version. The instrumentals are still cool, though.

  • i like the chorus sound of the "aaa's"

but it's obvious the arcade track had to work with a certain audio. so it's good in its own way.

  • this is pretty good but i like the cd version better

  • This arcade machine was so gangsta back in its day. I remember seeing the HUGE TV screen variants in mini-golf/arcade locales as a kid and watched in awe as my dad and uncle raced one another through those huge arcade screens-- still one of the coolest things I remember as a kid to this day. As well as the infamous Rolling Start music intro!

  • Wow, I didn't believe people when they said that the music for this game was really good, but now I know!

  • me too!!!

  • And knowing is half the battle! lol

  • you should hear the saturn version, as its cd audio instead of being synthesized it sounds better!

  • Actually, what they did on the Sega Saturn was use the (slightly changed) synthesized music tracks for Takenobu Mitsuyoshi to sing on again, and they called the result "CD audio". The result was inferior to the original music.

  • nah this version sounds dry the cd audio version is blatently better

  • Yes, but Let's Go Away would sound better sythesized. So does Sky High.

  • ROOOOALING STAAAAAART!
