Hi Liz The two you mention, also buckwheat which apparently contains fagopyrin which in sufficient quantity can have phototoxic effects. There's a bit by gilles arbour on the website of the same name. Also be aware that some sprouts such as alfalfa can have alergic response in some people (allegedy from what I've heard). Hope that helps. As I discover any I'll note it down and maybe do a vid on the subject. Cheers.
2 questions Dave, co you have to use a greenhouse, and the other question is do you know what soil you kneed for lavender, as we do not have a lot of luck growing lavender. or gorse flowers.
I have grown lavender in some standard potting compost. It did take almost a year before the seeds decided they would spring into life. I have not tried it but I wonder if a spell in the fridge might help the seeds think they have been through winter.
I don't have a green house. Sprouting is done indoors and needs no light.
just a Quick one for you Dave. If you use garden soil to plant your seeds just pop the soil in the micro wave for a few minuets. Kills off any white fly black fly or other things lying in your soil.
Cheers for that info, most enlightening, I wonder if using a mobile phone on some soil would do the same thing? I saw a vid where microwaved water and non microwaved water was used to water two plants. The one that got the microwaved water died. Cheers Dave
never seen that video sounds interesting as you know our police force are now using micro wave frequencies to transmit on with there new phone type systems, of course, Dave most things are ok in small doses. But I do know some one who has been micro waving there soil for some time with good results. I Am looking at filtering my own rain water or digging a bore hole to get better drinking water.
Sprouting trays are certainly good if you are doing a lot of regular sprouting. Because of the stacking system they are also good on saving space. This vid was really to help those who might want to just try a little. However like most things if you have good kit, it is more enjoyable and you tend to do it more. Cheers
Can anyone actually understand what this Limey is saying? Jayzis, woman, have another bisquit and Bass.

Hi Dave, are there any seeds we should avoid? I know soy and kideny beans are to be avoided raw- but it looks to me like most veg seeds can be eaten?

Looks easy, looks cheap; but I've got my heart set on a sprouting tray now. :-)
