@Himynameisricardo There is no such thing as a golden lab. Yellow labs are light creme to fox red and are always called "yellow" regardless of the shade. Look on the AKC site to confirm it if you don't believe a 20 year breeder.

abney, labs are the easiest dogs to train. Sounds like all you need to do is put some time into your pet lol...hes not going to know what you want from him, you need to show him. In fact...dogs can be as good or as bad as you handle them. most of the time its not the dog...

my yellow lab retriever is the worst dog imaginable. he doesn't listen for shit, he constantly pulls on his leash and just today; he pissed on another dog that was barking at him. i laughed so hard after i put him back in the play pen...

The only command he listens to is sit. I taught him to sit by holding a treat in my fist and holding my fist up and opening my fist up when i praise him...

I trained my 12 week old choco lab how to sit in two days and learned my stairs in one day. But he is a little tougher when it comes to other commands. It takes alot of work though!

(our floors are slippery) She'll be 9 weeks when I bring her home, when can I start training her this? How to sit? What should I start with? (I am getting books and such on how to train pups, I'd just like other opinions!)

We have a new chocolate lab puppy. We've had her for 5 days now (she's now 9 weeks old). We've already housebroke her. The key to success is diligence and having the time to keep a constant eye on her. As with all puppies, they're lives consist of 1. sleep 2. wake up and want to eliminate 3. eat 4. chew on things. Everytime she would wake up, I take her out and say "GO PEE, GO POO!" and she would sniff around and when she'd go, I'd praise her! If inside, a firm NO, then get her out now!

3 weeks old is too young. You want to make sure your private breeder (best option) has had dew claws removed and all 1st round vaccinations. 8 weeks is perfect because the pup will have been weaned by then and eating solid food. Personally, we went with a chocolate lab. We had a pick of all colors, but this little girl came running from the pack 1st to see what we were all about! I like that in a dog's personality. I don't want a timid animal. This is one reason private breeders are best.

Most pups will be ready from 6-8 weeks. You don't want them any earlier than that, as they should be with their mom still.

She's probably just using the dog as an example. Older dogs tend to be calmer and would be much easier to show on camera.
