  • I love that Sam Ramey still has that hairdo

  • ¡maravillante!

  • Great singers, horrendous acoustics.

  • @bodiloto, si, si baritono de zarzuela¡ Pero se los comio crudos a todos, jajajajajajaja¡

  • Bodiloto, Porque no te callas¡¡ Pesao¡¡

  • Bodiloto, Porque no te callas¡¡ Pesao¡¡

  • Yeah Domingo is a Spinto tenor, you can hear it when he tried the dramatic roles from Wagner, it is different from the other dramatic tenors.

  • Heard Ramey as Faust at the Met and he seemed to be having such a fun evening wearing his RED devil suit, complete with a tail! But I love this duet. I think it was Ramey and Richad Leech (in his prime). I also have a CD set of this with Corellie and Giaurov iti is spiine tinngling and so much better than this video. Domingo is so lacking, though i don't know what year this is from.

  • Faust is one of my favorites..and I heard Ramey live at the Met. He was having so much fun and sounded fantastic, A performance to treasure,

But I have a recording of Corelli as Fasut....awesome!

  • yes Domingo is a spinto surely

  • Ramey is always so freaking spot on all the time, love Placido as well

  • due baritoni ,uno baritono Rossiniano l 'altro baritono di zarzuela ... che bello due mostri della musica leggera .

  • What fun watching these two together!

  • sam schooled placidito here... goddamn, ramey is a force of nature

  • Ramey's voice beauty and the extension of his vocal register are real miracles. I'm always impressed how Ramey goes from his fab low register to his beautiful (and beautiful!) upper register, and vice-versa, w such ease and in a seamless way, as he did it here again. I liked Domingo too, OC. Great singing! Many THx for this jewel, which registers such a meeting!

  • Great stuff. Ramey was the preeminent Mefistopheles of his era (which I'd describe as circa 1979 to about 1997 or '98). At this stage in his long, LONG career, Domingo lacks the lyricism of Gedda, Kraus or di Stefano/Carrerras at their best, not to mention Bjorling. But he still provides full, rich, exciting tone --

  • This isnt Placido's best

  • @alluvermin Well, this role isn't really one best suited for him. Faust is a lyric tenor, and Placido is more of a dramatic tenor. He probably still does this role because it's still a fantastic opera. The most interesting roles are really Mephistopheles and Marguerite, though. I'd say Faust is one case in which the lead character really isn't necessarily the most interesting part.

  • @mantiXcore

    Domingo dramatic...?

Spinto, maybe. Not lyric. Not a Giuseppe Giacomini or someone like that...
