This isn't bricked... This is frozen you idiots... A hard reset always fixes frozen iPods, and has since the original iPod... BRICKED is when you can't even turn the iPod on (From my experience). It doesn't turn on and isn't recognized by iTunes.

i did this exactly as stated (ive tried lots of ways ive been told) it all works up until the open itunes part & then nothing. itunes opens & works fine but doesnt detect the phone (iphone 3g) at all. all was fine until i jailbroke my ios 4.1 with redsn0w. after that my computer wont ecknowledge the phone at all, it wont even charge from the usb lead when its plugged into the pc (or any other pc). i fear its dead but do you know of anything else to try?

if you are able to do anything with your iphone, like enter recovery or even get a response by pressing any button this is not a bricked iphone or touch. A bricked iphone/touch is where you can do nothing with it hence the term bricked. IF ITS BRICKED YOUR SCREWED!!
