  • these bein' full size ships for the sailin' of the waters o' the Carribean, are somewhat dwarfed by the giant natives in the background,O the rum O the rum ! Me poor old Mami told me never to partake of it,Othe rum!!

  • awsome

  • I said I'm The Pirate King....We'll settle this at sea!...ready the gun! YAAAARRRGH!

  • No, I am the Pirate King!

  • Well done good job Matee!

  • i am a pirate king

  • a wonderfull ship and a verry nice video ;o) thanks from germany ;o)) all time good drive ;o)))

  • but but... how could it sink, its awesome and you have a keel right? Que mala suerte... que lastima...

  • nice boat!!! but stupid ass crappy pirate music!!!

  • Just thinking about it...Someday, you need to build a scale model of the most beautiful warship ever to sail the seas. The Swedish ship named the Vasa

  • @TheJamesDun

That ship looks nice but it sank so I would have to modify it by cheating on its wieght ballast proportions, add a modern type ballast keel and sailing this type of ship is not automatic like a schooner rigg, changing the angle of the sails must be manually commanded, also wished I could get all the sails to angle up to 30 degrees but the rigg is complicated, need to switch over and use winch servos!

  • @sanddragon99 could it shoot its cannons? o btw can you make the flying Dutchman to it doesnt have to be accurate just make it LOOK like the Dutchman and then FIRE FIRE FIRE!

  • @TheJamesDun hope a scale model of the Vasa don't inheritage her scale seagoing capability:P but indeed a lovely ship. I have seen her Stockholm.

  • Hey Victor, I figured out a new method that I could use to build some pretty elaborate ships with a bit of ease (Since i'm still a novice, only had a few years of attempts) I figured that I could make the ribs out of basically anything, straws, plywood, etc. Then use Paper Mache to cover the hull, put a coat of epoxy on the inside and outside, then it's waterproof!

  • Hello. What height at a ship from a keel to the top of mainmast. I am sorry if here are errors.

  • @sovietkid96

Thanx! I will later post a video of the sail layout and it's current servo set up, wasn't able to figure out how to use rods!

  • Great work,looks beautiful!

Wish I could build ships like this one :)

  • Wow...You obviously put alot time into that! It looks glorious, and in my opinion thats the best of your works!

    Subscribing.

  • @TheJamesDun

I hopind to get the sail rigg to become more responsive to the sail servo but maybe I will switch it out for a powered winch... will need to save up some more money so for now she will be a little clumsy and will require more tacking to get up wind, hope my crew doen't mutiny!

  • @sanddragon99 You know, I'm thinking about making a Confederate Ironclad!(I admire the Confederacy, family history, thats all.) Think it's possible to build 2 - 3 foot long one wil real sheet metal, and STILL float?

Oh yeah, sending you one of my videos in PM's. (I'm not the guy in it)

  • An Iron clad kit is available in kit form and they can be made into remote controlled powered models, unless you wish to super size it, it still should not be technically hard, You don't have to use real metal at all.

  • @TheJamesDun

If you actually use real metal , choose some kind of tin like the ones used for soda cans, you can either try to weild them or better yet use loctite super glue and rubber cement plated parts to the wooden hull. If you are really good at it then you can even try making paddle wheels in metal too. 2-3 foot long vessels usually float well and is a forgiving size.

  • @sanddragon99 Cool, it might actually work. I'll forget about trying to install any RC motors though, if it floats it'll be a miracle.

  • If you are making a model that will float then you must try and go for RC operational controls! My ships may leak but I always pump floatation foam or place a lot of styrofoam blocks inside so sinking is very impossible! You can start off by building the whole vessel around a carved styrofoam hull even and then run the propeller shaft and other items / steering servo and throttle controlls tucked inside CSS VIRGINIA gun roof, maybe even add smoke generator!

  • @sanddragon99 Maybe, and by the way..EXCELLENT idea with the coke cans. That's GENIUS! I never would have thought of that. Also, for now I'm aiming for floatation. If it floats well, I'll make room for some type of RC servo. As for a smoke generator, that sounds expensive...maybe I'll make a chamber, buy a couple hundred smoke bombs, tie them together and see how long they last! Hahah, just joking.

  • @TheJamesDun

Smoke generator devices could be found on e-bay and are usually for RC tanks or model trains....Oh and that smoke bomb idea will suck if the ship catches fire!

  • @sanddragon99 Yeah, the smoke bombs were just a joke. I'll think about it, but not sure--knowing me I may not even start the project, and if I do I might now finish it. Although thanks for the support, really appreciate it.

  • great job. The wood finish looks amazing.

  • @RhinoKlox Oh yeah... The Black Pear is not painted Black! and I did not even use black sails either!

I couldnt have the heart to paint over that glorious finish and I already have another Black Pearl so I will leave it alone and barnacle free!

  • @RhinoKlox

May not paint over that Glorious finish and I didn't even bother to use Black sails either....I was looking for Black silk but had run out... these will have to do for now.

  • @sanddragon99 just leave it the ''wicked wench version'' before the british sunk it and sparrow makes the deal with davy jones to get it back

  • @elefantboys

    Briliant Idea! Pure Genius!

because It will be hell making new sails anyways!... I will Inform Cutler Bechet of the status of Wicked wench!

  • This is the ship you dream of ?

  • I really like that model. :)

Extremely well done. Fun video too. :)

    Thanks.

  • I am still tweeking the ship model, I was hoping for more wind in the video so I will shoot more video...Thanks for viewing.

  • Actually, I thought the ship was moving along at a near perfect scale speed for it's size. Can't wait to see it completed.

Oh, nice onboard shots too. :)

  • I usually like to sail close hauled into the wind and see it s tacking abilitys but I was having trouble getting the sail servo to transmit the necessary angle of attack to all the sails at the same time. Maybe I will add another helper servo on deck or use servo rods instead of rigging and pulleys! I think I can trick it out to sail like the Bluenose Schooner and make it sail just as fast .

  • Ah, yeh, one common push-pull rod connected to all would possibly work.

    Good luck with it. :)

  • thanks for the advice- I am actually experimenting on placing a rod to help the existing gear!
