@cardona89 No problem! Since 0:36 is right at a transition, I'm not entirely positive which clip you're curious about so I'll tell you both, just in case. The one with the men & ladies in work attire (most likely the one you're talking about) is from "How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". The one right after that, with the women behind bars in front of a red background is from "Chicago". :)
@lexiconlover Here are my answers to your mini-interview! :D
1. I don't know if there's any specific "proof" of Fosse's influence on Michael other than what you see in the dances/costumes themselves (I would never call it copying). But, he was, clearly, influenced by Fosse & the other great dancers that came before him. His "Smooth Criminal" music video, in particular, features some classic Fosse moves but, is, also, a deliberate homage to Fred Astaire's Girl Hunt Ballet.
2. Once I figured out how Final Cut worked, this video took about 3 months to make. Most of that time was spent finding the movies I needed. I owned 3 of them before I started & had to track down the rest.
3. That is a scene from The Little Prince & the man in black is Bob Fosse, himself. ;)
4. Probably, the "competition dance" from My Sister Eileen. Just two dancers & pure talent. Plus, anytime you get to see Fosse dance his own choreography is awesome!
Brilliant work! I have watched this at least twice a day for the week that I have been aware of it. I am a huge fan of Bob Fosse's work and was awestruck by your appreciation for the subtle nature of his choreography. Thank you.
Wonderful, wonderful compilation! Fosse was pure genius. Find him as A Snake in the Grass in "The Little Prince". Best thing in a great, quirky little movie...
@erikcentric Very true that Fosse's original Chicago choreography was not used in the film however, much of the choreography and especially the directorial style of the film very consciously took elements from Fosse's other work. There are particularly strong influences from Sweet Charity, Cabaret, All That Jazz and even Dancin' that make it a very recognizable "Fosse-style" film even though he didn't actually direct/choreograph it himself. It simply would've been a shame to exclude it.
This is so awesome!! I love it!! I am an ex dancer and this made me want to take a class and just be part of a passion that runs deep is so many people!!
Is there a list of the movies you got this from!! I know some of them but I would like to see all of them!!!
@bigrobsalsa1 Thank you so much! I am so touched that my video may have helped reawaken your love for dance!! :)
Yes, I've listed all of the movies I used in the video at the top of the description (right under the song and artist). Be forewarned, "The Affairs of Dobie Gillis" is the most difficult to track down (it's not on DVD yet). Your best bet is to see it on TCM so, keep your eye on that channel (& their website, tcm.com) so you can catch it next time it plays. Happy movie watching!! :D
@rmjdelgado Sure, I can help you! :) Those are, actually, late '60's costumes you're seeing and the lovely ladies in the office wearing them are from the movie, "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying". The musical number they're dancing to is "A Secretary Is Not A Toy". ;)
What is the name of the movie at 0:36? thanks

Great Job. Here is an mini-interview:
1. Is there any proof that Micheal Jackson was influenced/copied Fosse?
2. How LONG did it take you to make this video? (did you have the clips before you started?)
3. What is the name of the movie with the man in black dancing int he desert?
4. Which Fosse dance, from the ones you featured here, is your favorite?

A first rate editing job that encompasses much of Fosse's work.
Major gripe however: The movie version of 'Chicago' did not
utilize any of Fosse's original choreography - which is made
all too obvious when you see it in the context of his other work.
