These wires are too thin, and the wire gets hot from too much power. The result — the wire gets too hot, smokes and maybe melts/fire/etc. NOT GOOD. If you're going to use that cable, crack it open on the XB PSU connector side and rewire to a normal ATX cable with Three 12V (yellow) and 3 GND (black) ... this way the wires don't overheat and melt ur PSU or catch fire etc.
oh, and the Atx to XB PSU cable adapter is totally not recommended. It runs the 12V line off of a single rail from your ATX PSU. That wire gets VERY HOT. You need THREE SEPARATE WIRES. This is why they make different gauge wires for electronics ~ is that they carry different loads of power.
Dunno if you got a reply for the reason your fan went out but if you ever used the Tallismoon or anything like it with the temperature probes and LCD, it draws too much power on the DVD drive and it actually shorted out and blew one of the Thermistors on my motherboard.
I've since had to run my fans and cooling system off a 2A molex source. Kinda crappy that they make something that does such a thing but oh well.
lol; my m8 saw this and thut fook that and just took the live feed from the dvd drive and done ,,,the fans turn off when you turn the xbox off and theres no fugly pc component sat next to the xbox you realy dont need to go thru all that trouble ha ha :P
ALSO YOU CAN USE THE 5.4V ON THE USB IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS BUT IT IS A GREAT IDEA FOR MINE HAS THE SAME THING WRONG WITH IT I USED THE USB FOR NOW
i put the auora light kit on mine with a talsimoon whisper fan and my fan power went out...So i seen the video and it helped but one question.Does the cable that connects the xbox 360 to the power supply come along with the pc etc.....One more thing to what kind of pc power supply do you got?
My fans no longer work.... I went out & bought a new power supply brick because my other had a red light on it, my xbox has 2 red lights. When using the BIG painting fan, (pointing it directly at the xbox) it seems to be fine, my red LEDS are not working either, they are just dim but not what they should be at before the 2rings.........ANY SOLUTIONS?!???!?!!??!!?
thats alot of work, i simply bought a used nyco intercooler for 5 bucks took the crappy little fans out of it and connected center ground and the 12v main power from the intercoooler to the connector to the xbox internal fan connector and its done. the fans run maxed out but the xbox will never overheat again.
hey ive got a problem with my xbox 360 ive got proper ventilation and everything but i keep getting 2/3 red rings and then i added an xbox 360 fan i bought from gamestation but when i try it it keeps making a loud kzzrring sound and i think its going to break my xbox if i keep it on,any ideas to fix this without having to send it to microsoft just to have them tell me i need a new one.
@techrated i didnt exactly do what he did i took a old charger and i spliced it to the fans and stuff and added a switch to the splice to turn it on and off when ever i want
i would find this cheaper to do and i used 10 volts makes it a lot cooler
the problem is the power voltage to the fans is set for exactly 5 volts. this is because they dont want the fans too loud and people complaining. but when yuo draw power from the fans not only do the fans slow down but the leds are dim. but if you leave it that way for too long the fan starts drawing more power then it allows and that blows out the the input. reason? because the fans minimum power intake is 5 volts.
on mine i installed 2 fans from the dvd power cause i took out the dvd drive. after i got the 2nd one in it turned off after starting for like 2 seconds and the power supply color was red.
Hello, I followed your video and I still have the 3 rings, when I turn on the console, the fan starts and stops then the 3 rings appear, also, the green light flashes on the power supply just as quick as the fan starts and stops, can you help me?
@tileguy888 the 3 rings, your thinking of is actually a different problem, you need to look in at the red ring of death, also known as (RROD), i do know how to fix it but i have not mate a tutorial for it as there are already many out there. one of the results of RROD is that your xbox just simply wont work...but it will turn off the power to the fan as it knows it's not working
oi keennnnt i'll fucken staunch you bruzzzzz come to feeeken redfern with meeee and me homies feeeken keeeentttt. Staunchays comign ups bruz goijg to fucken such atheg dick and tha puss and then going to smoke some fucken crack and then immas kill da predisent bruzzsiz
cool..but mine has a yellow light on the brick and no power to the gm..only when it want to..then it freezzz on me or shuts down..any clue..or do i just stick to ps2 and 3..
When I start up my xbox, I get the fan hyped up for a few seconds, and then it shuts off. I have the 2 red rings lit up, but no error message. Is it just my fan which has stopped working, or is it something worse?
No, I mean that the fan shuts off after a few seconds; not the xbox itself. I'm going to open it up this weekend and take a look, but if you have any suggestions for me, then that'd help
@Murcow could be a prob with the heat sinks not touching or something like that..could redo the the heat sink compound and should go back to the 3 red lights or back to working regular if it was b4 the 2 lights.
up to 12v, but depending on how much the xbox is heating up i believe the voltage will adjust from 5v, 9v, and 12v, but 12v is what it actually says on the stock fan label, so thats the recommended max

MrUguyssuk 1 year ago
dont do that because there is an MUCH more easier way doing this
just get a 5v or a 12v power supply cut it at the end bit then put it all togther and turn it on

i dont think there is a name for that cord. if you are missing that cord you would have better luck just buying a whole new power supply.
