  • i feel soo guilty right now...at the beginning of the video i thought they were supporting watching show s on the internet but by the end i was like "yeah,well..some of us don`t get paid by posting episodes online. Some of us just want to help people who have very busy schedules and can`t catch shows on tv"...Anyway,they should have posted other videos because Katherine is basically saying that it`s not fair because they don`t get paid.Well, neither do we,world`s an imperfect place.

  • I love Grey's anatomy but this is ridiculous, everyone knows that they have enough money and that they get paid very wel. There are people who earn the bare minimum and they are complaining about people who watch the shows online?! People who don't live in the USA have to wait months longer to watch the next episodes so it is normal that fans want to watch it as soon as possible.

  • cccooooooolllllll.......

    Some of my friend on

    RENTAFRIEND. COM

told me about this. Really nice.

  • ok now im from cyprus and i watched all 6 season of greys online. i cant stop that because its the only way to watch the show. the fair thing is to share the incomes of the net BUT they won't do it if they have nothing to loose by not doing it so in my oppinion i think we should stop for a period of time if we want greys to continue...

  • sandra oh was also there

  • Lol, I watch them online all the time! xD I won't stop either, I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH!!! <33

  • eeehhh, i agree with Ellen Pompeo, but actually I watched several en mutiple episode of Grey's Anatomy on the Internet for free, I live in the netherlands, and the series is shown once a week, so when you miss it, there is no way to see the episode anyway, In summer they repeat all the seasons, but I can't spend my whole holiday in front of the tv. I just watch the series on the internet.....

  • i think is wrong that the internet is riping them off but i think its wrong that there tell us not to watch it off the internet there fans are not only form america, we to want to watch the show & have no other way

  • I side with my friends from Grey's! Sorry guys. I have to.

  • shure its america...even though i dont live in america...but their are in fact limits to freedom, whether you like it or not people. what they did was true and very fair, gosh people its only a few dollars, its not like 50 bucks. in france our euros are worth alot, and its just as the same for us.....so dont think i shouldnt be talking, cuz in fact i can

  • Please im ganna keep doing what ever the hell i want to - this is America bitch - and i dont care how much i love grey's anatomy - shit is fucking exspencive today and if i watch my shows on the internet to gET THE ONLY HAPPIENESS i get in the week for free - than to fucking bad - im ganna keep doin it

  • "Do not download shows on the Internet"..easy to say, but back in France we have the show like a year after and dubbled in French which is really anoying. Who's to blame? Us, them?..

  • One night a storm came through and knocked out my satellite signal and I missed an episode of Despirate Housewives, so I tried to watch that episode on the internet. It was free... and it was an awful experience, bad quality and was not worth my time. so I don't understand how they can be losing that much money if any.

  • is good that they support themeven if we the fans suffers the thign is as an actress is not ncie to be used and see that other people's work is being used nthat they dont receive what they deserve, without them the show wouldnt be the same, here in my city a national show but was creative 4the work here and they changed him and the show beocme a total shit they shut it down after soemtiem so is rgeta having Grey's back and ina good way after fignthing for they rights

  • i love the rhyming chants hahaha

  • Grey's Anatomy Returns: Thursday, April 24, 9 p.m. ET (five episodes)

  • yay!!!

  • i download shows all the time, but I don't pay so i guess that's still supporting

  • One more thing not all the writer's make good money, many don't and this strike not only effects writers it effects everyone on set such as camera people, make up artist, etc, and many people have lost their jobs because of the companies.

  • I heard strike could end soon negotiations have resumed. Writers deserve the money, all they want is 2.5 percent for residuals and online media. The companies are cheap and greedy, the writers haven't had a new deal in many years. The companies need to stop being so greedy and give the writers a fair deal. Without writers the shows would be crap. The strike could been avoided if the companies weren't so greedy.

  • I agree with daneishababyd , i tink the writers need more money bt i do agree with watchin them online cause i live in Ireland and Season 4 of Grey's hasnt started yet so i watch them online! Plus there is absolutely no way they are goin to stop everyone watchin them!

  • i argee wit them they should get paid more but i dont think that they should say stop watchin them on the inter net.....i want 2 re-watch episodes and watch shows that i missed.....but do think there gettin under paid

  • lol... I love Gey's Anatomy... but i doubt the show get back on 'cause both writers and actors are being stupid... What would the actors say if they where told thay they're have to give a % of their money to support the WGA??? I bet they'd be right back at the studio

  • They're being stupids? They're fighting for their rights. The producers are taking all of the money and the profits, when without the writers they've got nothing. The actors support that. The cast is especially close to the Grey's writing staff. The point is, don't get all dramatic because you can't see your favorithe show... Support the writers who make it for all of you. When they win the strike, they're gonna be the ones makin' more episodes for the audience, not the producers.

  • pfff... it makes my eyes roll when these actors act all tough, especially the greys cast. I mean, their only there because their jobs arn't being threatened. As soon as the director/producers get a script, all they have to do is shout; all right you actors, get your self-important asses back in the fucking studio! The actors will then run back, doing as they've been told because god-forbid they lose their steady paycheck for staring in a shitty show about over sexed doctors.

  • I get the fact that they want to get their fare share, but why the hell is Ellen saying the downloading should stop? That is the future, and even the present. The money should just be fairly divided. Right?

  • She means that downloading anything currently will mean that the writers don't get thier residual (sp?) You watch something downloaded, you scam th writers.

  • I'd like to see the tax returns of the "poor" writer/producers of hit shows released to the public. The outrage would be immediate that these greedy writers want more money.

  • I totally agree, there stupid to keep letting this go on.

  • man they better start paying these writers, I WANT GREY'S BACK!!!!

  • 1 thing about what pompeo said tho: I am pro downloading purely shows I am against watching it on the networks websites WITH ADS. If anything, people downloading your shows without ads will broaden your fanbase (especially internationally). By the time versions with ads from networks are of good enough quality (which shouldn't take much time, only some effort from the side of the networks) these new fans will watch your shows on websites from which you will at that point get residuals

  • great vid!

  • Its not the fact that you can get it online- its because they get a percentage off of episodes on tv and when its on the internet only the studio gets paid. Its their craft- they should be getting paid when its played. How is it pathetic????

  • It's not about getting more money, it's about the shift from television to the internet; if that happens as is being predicted, and the rules stay as they are, the writers will get ZERO money for what they produce. I think that's a pretty good reason to strike, don't you?

  • This is unfortunate because I want to support these people but the only way I can watch their shows is threw the internet.

  • Me too.I live in Bilgaria and i can't watch their shows.

  • you can say that obviously the writers can afford not to work for two weeks but that is so not true. Just like everyone else in the world writers are at risk of loosing everything, including their jobs. That should show you how important the principals are that they are fighting for!

  • unionized workers aren't the entire show. this strike is costing the REAL poor people, the key grips, the cameramen, etc their entire livelihoods. i agree that everyone should make more from dvd sales and internet media which is the future, but the strike is costing real workers their livelihoods. While the unionized are OBVIOUSLY able to not work for 2 weeks or more on this strike, the other 80-90% of the crew that make up shows can not afford this strike and the later strikes in 2008.

  • Well, that's sad but what should I care? I don't really watch these shows anyway. I'm informing myself on things like how Mercedes-Benz's Pre-Safe works, or it's Active Body Control. Or how Two-Mode Hybrid cars works. Or what's going on with the Subprime Mortgage Crisis.

  • All of you people are so uninformed! My cousin is a member for the WGA, and is not RICH like you all seem to assume! Writers do not make money unless their screenplay is purchased. These writers are asking for 2.5 percent of the residuals! Without their words and creativity the t.v. shows would never even exist! You might want to become informed before you write uninformed ignorant comments!

  • I support the WGA 100%! It's great that actors are coming out to support them as well. Stay strong and kick some network ass!

  • Rock on WGA. Out of curiousity and of ferverent support do you get a percentage of iTunes downloads?

    Keep at stay strong!

  • The support of well-known faces is invaluable. Good on these guys for picketing.

  • I support them!

Grey`s Anatomy is my favorite show..

  • "It's alright it's okay, we got all our friends from grey's" lol

    I support!

  • Without the writers there is no show(s). The actors and writers have evry right to demand their far share of anything that has their name and or face on it. As far as the "average Joe's", they would not have a job to being with without the creative forces behind it.

  • omg ! i couldnt agree more ! i cant believe people have thumb marked this down ! yes there picketing but why cant they part with a thousand /what ever a month ?! !

  • "yes there picketing but why cant they part with a thousand /what ever a month ?! ! "

    What do you mean?

  • there picketing for the actors to get paid more money, but why cant they give like 1000...w/e to the cause. lol, get it now ??

  • Not exactly. Are you saying the actors should give to the cause since they make a lot? Sorry, but I just don't understand what you're writing.

  • yeah thats what im saying lol. im describing what i mean stupidly sorry =[

  • oh shut up the actors are members of WGA SAG ect

they are in full support of the strike they don't want ppl to lose jobs ect they are all fighting the same fight

if u don't have all the facts then keep ya mouth shut !!

  • i'm supposed to take a comment from mcdreamyslover seriously? come on people.

  • sorry ellen .... we can't we have to downlode the shows ,,,,, we wait for a whole week and we are about to stop watching them soon , we will support but in another way :)

  • I support this!!! Gooo ù___ù

  • i love being able to watch shows on the internet i cant afford dvr when im at school and it allows me to catch up on my fave shows that i missed..i hope they dont start charging us on the internet

  • I think everyone likes watching shows on the Internet, but the problem is that the writers of these shows are not getting paid residuals at all when the shows are broadcast on the net, and they're only getting 4 cents per unit DVD of their shows. That sucks, especially because most writers are not millionaires and may live off of those residuals between working.

  • I SUPPORT THEE TOO! The only thing that suks w the net in CANADA we do not have access/privileges of FULL EPISODES as I discovered today, so with this strike could you guys fight for the rights to have full episodes shown across the border....so win this fight get your % of royalties and make sure everyone in NORTHAMERICA is able to watch repeats on the internet. THANKS

  • Pls make sure everyone in the whole WORLD is able to watch repeats on the internet. Than nobody does need to download shows anymore. Europe dubbs a lot and then you have two wait for almost a year to finally see the new episodes. WAY too long!

  • I agree!!! In Europe we are so far behind. I hate wait for see a show dubbed (especially when dub sucks). Let us download them legally! (but not before the writers won their battle!!!!)

    GO WRITERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Irony

  • I think writers should get paid about the same as actors and actresses. I think idea is the most important part of anything. Of course the people put it into action are equally important, but without the idea, they are nothing and vise versa.

  • I had the idea of saying this before you... I think anyone can do it...

  • Krista Vernof, head writer said that most writer's make only 30,000 a year.

If that figure is true then they should all be fighting/striking for a raise.

  • Wow, that's a pretty crappy wage for the type of ideas they are able to come up with. Actors just act... but you know.. I don't think they should get paid as much as they should compared to who allows them to keep their job (writers). The writers should at least have the same pay and solid rights to their works.

  • I realize something. You can make a whole lot of money but still be broke. I also realize that the less you make, the more you use it EFFICIENTLY. It's more of a matter of spending it, not earning it to be financially successful. So, Vernof better be careful or she'll lose her job (and not be able to make money for a period of time) only because the company can't AFFORD her.

  • Wow before the strike started I didn't even know that the writers don't get paied for the internet episode on websides like CBS oder ABC... I think their reason to strike is comprehensible.. I hope the TV Channels will give in and pay the writers... I would be striking, too. I love the Grey's Anatomy cast. The fact that they're striking, too is really great. Keep on fighting for your rights guys...

  • No wonder there was no blog posted online after the telecast, like they used to every after episode. Keep fighting the good fight, I guess! However, these are Emmy nominated writers, they could have written better strike chants!

  • i LIKE THIS ALOT!

it goes to show you that celebrities can protest too and THIS makes all the difference a person without status can do...

they just want more money...so stop downloading shows!

  • Of course the actors are majority supporting the writers for their own reasons but is that really a bad thing? New Media should be shared just as it has been on TV, That includes everyone who gets residuals.

  • "It's alright, it's okay, we have all our friends from Grey's!"

Support what you believe in!!! If I were there I would be striking too!

  • you should definetly ork on some better chants

  • they would write some better chants...but they're on strike lol

  • i dont understand how u can be so fucking dumb??

how old are u five??? or ur brain just stopped growing!?!??

you obviously DO NOT know what the REAL issue is here

writers dont get paid enough considering their importance in the media industry

    .....

ur dumb as fuck..not to mention an asswipe

u shud just shut the fuck up

  • "it's alright, it's ok, we've got all our friends from grey's"

seriously they're writers, they could have done better.

and let me just ask, is it possible that the reason the writers are supporting the strike is because the SAG contracts are up next year and they're going to be looking for the same thing.

don't get me wrong, i think the writers should get the money, they deserve it, but are the actors being entirely selfless?

  • i meant to say actors there not writers.

  • It's great to see the cast participating in this as well. I think it's important for actors to support the writers, because without them they wouldn't have their jobs and vice versa. I think showing tv shows on the net is a good outlet however, Writers should get a piece of what already should be given to them. Writers don't get paid much as it is and I think people forget what a talent writing is in and of itself.

  • That's so great that they're going and supporting the writers. As T.R. said, the writers make all of this up. Without them, shows like Grey's wouldn't exist.

  • i actually prefer watching shows on the internet...less commercials. I have a computer hooked up to my tv so there's no loss of quality.

And if advertisers were wise, knowing how banner ads and streaming ads can be tailored to the individual household, they'd prefer spending their dollars to direct the right ad to the right person so PAY ALL ARTISTS ACCORDINGLY.

  • That's right! Don't give up! You are doing right thing. It's for future generations of writters aswell! Fight for it. I completely supporting you!

  • what?... okay... i understand that their is a strike...but when will they stop sending grey's?...

  • They're stopping production after Episode 11 :(

  • Online episodes are NOT "promo" material. Writers need to be compensated!

  • I'm so going to miss Grey's, but I definitely support the WGA. Take Ellen's heed everybody.

  • I love how they were all in their scrubs. Hopefully a new contract is reached and the writers and actors get a share of what's theirs so all my favorite shows can go back.
