  • cool. video. cool guy. annoying song.

  • was there a portapotty in the plane? and some snack bar i'd imagine for hunger

  • Better to die having lived than to die of old age never having lived at all! However, obviously, living life to the full until old age is the best of all!

  • yes man you are right , nice machine , i envy the pilot and machine both , i dont have one but only devoted people do extraordinary jobs like this .

  • Well Done Steve !! I believe your still flying, Aye ??

  • what is the gas mileage

  • I watched it land at SLN

  • way to go Steve! too bad your not here anymore buddy

  • Great video about the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer... what is the name ofthe song in the video?

  • I'm with the jerk - unlimited resources, been done before, solo or not. golf clap.

  • hey show some respect for the man.GOD..

  • that took off where i live!!! i saw it

  • this isn't the first time the voyager was flown around the world. I grew up in the town were the voyager was built and I can remember them being the first to fly around the world a long time ago.

  • its the "global flyer"

  • I understand the name is Global flyer, but it's a remake of another plane. That other plane "the voyager" already flew non stop around the world so who care what this new plane did.

  • wow.. kind of a jerk arnt you?

Yes, the Voyager did fly around the world, but there are big differences between the two.

1.) Voyager had 2 pilots, GF had 1

2.) Voyager was a piston engine (2 i think), GF was a single jet.

Sure its not as big of a leap as Voyager was, but its still a jump. And remember the GF and Voyager were both designed by Burt, so of course they look similar. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

  • Actually it's a completely new design. The same designer, Burt Rutan did it so there are a lot of similarities. Overall it's got less drag and is a more reliable design than Voyager so he outdid himself.

Let's not forget that this was a SOLO flight as well.

  • I have posted a $10,000 reward to find him by viewing satellite photos - at YouChoose dot net.

  • are those two side things on the wings gas tanks?

  • yes. they're called 'booms' and they hold a lot of the fuel. The rest is in the wings, and in a small tank in the middle section.

When the globalflyer took off, 87% of its overall weight was fuel... that's a lot!

  • yes there is fuel in

  • in such a small space and knowing I'm not landing anytime soon i'd have a panic attak

  • Do a google search and type in: "help find steve fossett by searching new satellite"

Click the first link, download Google Earth and download the KML file on that page to make sure you're looking at recent sat fotos.

  • Steve Fossett, Has Been Reported Missing After Taking Off In A Small Aircraft, Flight Plan Not Filed And No Radar Contact. Aircraft Scanning Many Miles To Find Him.

  • Thanks for the news. I hope he's ok.

  • No Problem.
