  • it's best to paint the whole section and end at a body line, the section you painted had great body lines to fade but I see youre a rookie, good job though, rust is a pain for alot of people with salt roads!

  • @Jx1x3 Absolutely agreed... but I wanted to preserve as much of the original paint as I could. Personal quirk - not necessarily the strategy I'd recommend for anyone else.

  • I'm not sure what it is about diesel Benz's and Vanagons but I love them both. I've been looking for an '84 two-tone blue hard top Vanagon for a while now. I almost went and looked at one a couple weeks ago but the dude didn't have the title for it so that would've been a major pain to resolve. Good to see you do your own work!

  • @82MB240D Oh boy, do I do my own work... Good luck on finding a Vanagon. Look for a new video on the Vanagon from me in the near future. I was out for a drive tonight, and the oil pressure warning light started wigging out. I think it's a minor electrical glitch.

  • I sold my 91 Vanagon....which was so stupid of me to do.

  • @Kbrusky15 They're going up in value. I suggest snapping one up while they're still the redheaded stepchild of classic VWs. I've had mine for 8 years and wouldn't sell it unless I really had to.

  • @MercedesDieselGuy

Did you see the videos of mine? my dad bought it for $1500 and I sold it for $2800 after doing a ton of work to it. Again.... I really miss mine haha, My 78 Transporter isn't fully filling the void.

  • @Kbrusky15 I haven't seen your Vanagon videos yet, but I LOVE your green '78. My wife's been bugging me for a '70s bay window, but we don't have the space or the money at the moment. Not to mention you can't find them around here in New England too easily.

  • @MercedesDieselGuy

They've all melted over there :/

  • @Kbrusky15 LOL - sorta. Snow and road salt dissolved most of them.

  • 51 minutes, holy cow :>

  • @Kbrusky15 Apologies on the length of this particular video. It kind of got away from me. I find that when I'm doing a DIY video, I can usually keep the length down.

When I'm free-forming the videos, they tend to run pretty long. I'm working on making these kind of things shorter.

  • nice job on it man i work at a body shop that like $2000 to $2500 repair u did

  • @hefty88 Thanks. Of course, in person, my work doesn't look as good as a professional job. But, the results are good enough for me to be happy with it.
