A camera I recommend for surfing is the GoPro Hero HD its $200, but I is worth it. I bought a surf board mount that I had to fiddle with that is on the front of my board.

oi when your out surfing how do you clean the screen of the camera to get rid of the water bubbles, so that your always filming with a clear screen and view!

hah sometimes I stuff it in the front part of my O'neil Mutant wetsuit which has " pull-over head" piece where the camera cumbersomely fits.  If there is a set coming or in between waves throughout the set I usually just hold it in my teeth...The camera is not bigger than my fist*

Aloha, for the price it's a great deal. I would only buy the WH1 for underwater use cause there are cameras which shoot 1080 ( Vixia) and have quality stills(Vixia) for around the same price. The Sanyo shoots 720 and stills are poor. The goods are, the battery last around three hours and it's waterproof!!!! ( be sure to check ebay for a great deal on the WH1 and try to get it in the USA!!!)

Great footage! I have been thinking about getting the Xacti WH1 for wet shots. Seems like you really like it. We only have a Canon Vixia so it pretty much stays far away from water.

I just turn it on when I'm on the wave...i found it's better to turn it on before you paddle,(hold the hand strap in your mouth to paddle), then edit out the paddle. This way you won't miss the drop as much. I have a home made rope strap from the camera to a tightened noose around my neck. Sounds like fun huh?!@#$%^&* J/K It's a blast and you'll find what works best for you... I give the camera a 5 of 5* Thanks for stoppin by and look for more vids to come from the Xacti WH1!!!
