@jamesrschultz ok if i reinstall my windows 7 disk .. do i have to wipe my computer clean to start from scratch like new computer... i just want to do a upgrade.. i dont want to do a clean install what are my options
The point that 64Bit use more ram IS: That less ram goes to the swap! That means, that less memory /RAM will be saved on HDD to swap! Thats better because RAM is always faster then HDD!!! So and 64 Bit can handle MORE AND BETTER Ram, up to 128 GB! Some processors have to 64 Bit pipelines which work together to gain more performance! So there are twice as fast in theory! But windows must be FULLY REDISIGNED IN 64 BIT TO HANDLE THIS POWER. AND I don´t think they get it to work...
Wow someone here trying to show how 64bit and 32bit compare and all you idiots chime in with nonsense. Not a one of your posts was worth the 30 secs of my life it took to read them. If you do not have anything really useful to add STFU. BTW you all owe me my 30secs of my life back! I accept paypal.
64 bit is faster if u knew anything about computers or math u would know that something at a speed of 32 is slower then a speed of 64 the processor will be able to handle stuff twice as fast. Bit stands for binary digit. You would always want more because then you can have a faster better system. And your pc is slow probabily because your using vista/7 those use up a lot of your ram becuse it's graphical interface looks better.
on anyy video i've ever seen with someone who posted there pc stats they never had more then 16gb. so i think it will be like 50 years till be use TB ram but by then Ram will be obsolete. we would have created some other type of chip to replace ram. or something.
24 you could use but i have no clue wat would need that much. and you said u had 12 4gb sticks which would men you have 6 random 4gb sticks that you cant use. why!? why would you buy 12 and only have room for 6. wats the point?
@maxamillion4536 PS: The point why I should use 24 GB is because I´m designer and i use many virtual machines! And a virtual machine USES MUCH OF RAM!
And thats why so many RAM could be good. Too if you create a 4048x4048 Picture, it uses around 188 MB of RAM. And then do a Fractal... OHH that use MUCH. Around 500 MB.
Too I´m a Game-Lover. And I need a PC where I could play some Games without my PC is fully BUSY! So I really need around 5 GB. And I Have 6 in ;D
well 64 bit windows is for computer with more gigs n rams then what u have cuz am run a 64 bit with 140 gigs n 4 core prossers n it work perfectly fine it runs great n to start up it take bout 10 second n it fast for me
wow, your really don't know wat your talking about. you have 140 gb of hard drive space (Secondary memory). primary memory is Ram which the fastest pc prob only supports 16gb that ive seen in my life. 4gb is a good amount. your looking at your hard drive space, not ram.
right click on desktop go to properties then go to settings and click the drop menu next to color quality and select 64. (that option may not be available though.)
@Fjerdue Thanks for the clarification. I now use a MacBook Pro 2.53 with 8GB of RAM, and Windows 7 x64 is still awful. Microsoft just can't produce anything that compares to Apple inc.
@jamesrschultz not really just ppl r to stupid n buy sucky computer dat would cost less then a mac or bout da same n run better then apples computer but dats wat i think i got nothin aganist apple cuz i have a mac n a pc but its costom made so i dont complan
i am on 32-bit Win7 and i have 4GB Ram, and im allowed to use 3327MB :S If im going to make a new comp with 4GB should i then get 64-bit? And btw can win7 64-bit be able to run 32-bit applications with some other programm or crap..?
You are totally loosers guys windows 32 bit is for lowset pc with 3gb ram max and 64bit can excepet more gb like 4,6,8 gb 64 is for fasteer pc and it has bonus:slow pc =32bit speed pc = 64bit its al
Unless you run older 16bit dependant applications get Windows 64bit. X86 is becoming old and is becoming phased out over time. OEMs are increasingly selling 64bit Laptops now. Ignore this video because this guy has no idea what he is on about. I switched to 64bit Windows 7 and its amazing. I have it in a dual boot with 32bit though just in case. OR you can just use Virtual XP Mode in Win7 Pro or higher and use 64bit permantely. The only machine thats still 32bit in my house is my netbook.
@jamesrschultz How is it not ready? It runs all my games including games from as early as 1995 Natively! My machine is a Quad Core AMD Phenom II 2.8Ghz, 4GB DDR3 1333mhz and a Nvidia 250GTS but with 32bit OS's it just seems slower. What are your machine specs? There has to be a good reason for it running 'slowly'. Ive never used an OS thats so quick that isnt 64bit on my machine. My old gaming PC 2.2Ghz intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 8800GT runs amazingly with 64bit! It was slower with 32bit!
64 OS does take up a little more in terms of hard drive space.
The reason you lost 1 gig of RAM on 32 bit is because it's max RAM is 4.2 gig (2^32 = 4.2 billion) Including your video RAM. So if your running 4 gig and 1 gig video ram. u will have 3 gig of system ram. 1.5gig for kernel usage, and 1.5 gig for application
Those you think 4 gig is plenty, your wrong. 1.5gig for application use it pretty average.
@mrbarnes86 Actually the reason why he lost a gig on 32bit is because 32 bit windows buts a cap on ram at 3.4gbs Microsoft did this to prevent errors, and video ram is different to normal ram, its stored on the graphics card itself, however you might be confusing vram with shared video memory which uses ram but this shows up as available to windows
a processor with 32-bit memory addresses can directly access 4 GB of byte-addressable memory, doesn't matter where the memory is, the CPU can only access 4g. The usable amount will depend on a number of things like video card, and mothboard (chipset and bios in particular)
Try changing your graphics card. Windows 7 32bit with 512m graphics will say (give or take) 4gig (3.5gig usable) if u have a 768m graphics it will say 4 gig (3.25g usable) etc.
ehh.. you know that the 32 bit version uses about the same right? i had visata home pro on my pc end used between 1,3 and 1,4 gb.. without anything running in the background.. but baught windows 7 ultimate a couple of weeks ago and i currently use about 700 mb with antivirus, and all :) and it is the 64 bit :)
the just under 1 gig was taken up by vista (memory hog)
and if your hard drive is filling up from programs YOU installed, that's your own fault. and you said you normally use less, then its not a problem then? you don't need more then? and you are complaining about it eating ram while you are uploading & recording...
well if you upgrade to a 64bit system type, I recommend you over clock your CPU frequency as much as you think your CPU can handle, but I would recommend a little at a time of testing if your computer will except it.
64bit is goooood....it depands on which os you're using. which you are using thw worst version of 64bit os...beside i have vista business x86 and it does eat ram!! it s no different from vista x64 which consume as much(mine is 1.35gb at idle!!!!) hard drive space? you got a freaking vista ultimate which include many feature which that taken space and general people wont even touch it!! my vista business has already taken almost 32gb in clean install. which it is simply vista sucks....
epic fail! i install quake 2, daikatana, unreal classic and slave zero on my xp x64 pro that the file location are not in inside the programfile x86 and they ran just fucking fine. the only difference is the driver. 32bit driver(physx, directx, hd desk..etc) has to be install inside the programfile x86 but most of application can be random install inside anywhere the hard drive.
I have a dual boot 64bit/32bit windows setup. It is amazing how many high profile softwarehouses refuse to touch 64bit. systems. 64bit is the way to go, are you listening NIKON?
you realize the 64 bit system is supposed to eat ram so it'll be able to give you better performance (like gaming and such) and vista was made to eat ram for some reason but...if you're not happy with the 64 bit system being awesome with it's uber power then go back to the dying breed a.k.a 32 bit system :P (no offence :O)
thats because you need to have at least 8gb ram to run it normaly, but if you have that much of memory or even more, you will never want to go to the 32-bit structure.
So wait, x64 is slower than x32? On my Win 7 x64, all the x32 programs run at amazing speeds and all the other stuff I use have x64 bit support and I don't think I could go back to my x32 Win 7, it is noticeably faster for me given that you have a decent amount of ram.
Dude I think its your PC that is making 64bit run slower than 32bit, I used to have 32bit but then upgraded to 64bit and 64bit is much smoother & quicker.
Wait, so if I had 64 bit Windows Vista, and there was a 32 bit program I wanted to run, 64 bit can run compatibility wizard, so the programs with with 32 bit?
dude 32 and 64 bit is not like vista XP and windows 7....when 128 bit comes ur going 2 look at ur kids and say ''Holy shit!!".....maby not that long but it is going to take at least 4-6 yrs
Kong is correct, we've basically just moved to 64bit architecture, those of us who remember 16bit, know this transistion has been much much smoother (especialyl hardware), but really, if you have any decent gaming machine, 64bit is the way, I want to use all of my RAM (I have 6gb), so I run Win7 64bit, if I ran 32bit, I wouldn't get any more compatibility, and I'd lose 2.Xgbs
32 bit has to run in compatibility mode? thats the biggest piece of rubbish ever. 64 bit processors can process 32 bit programs aswell. Hence why the architecture is called x64-x86.

@GigantGatlingGun Upgrade to Windows 7 for sure, but the bit type has to remain the same.
jamesrschultz 1 year ago
The point that 64Bit use more ram IS: That less ram goes to the swap! That means, that less memory /RAM will be saved on HDD to swap! Thats better because RAM is always faster then HDD!!! So and 64 Bit can handle MORE AND BETTER Ram, up to 128 GB! Some processors have to 64 Bit pipelines which work together to gain more performance! So there are twice as fast in theory! But windows must be FULLY REDISIGNED IN 64 BIT TO HANDLE THIS POWER. AND I don´t think they get it to work...
MrGermanBratwurst 1 year ago
Wow someone here trying to show how 64bit and 32bit compare and all you idiots chime in with nonsense. Not a one of your posts was worth the 30 secs of my life it took to read them. If you do not have anything really useful to add STFU. BTW you all owe me my 30secs of my life back! I accept paypal.
stevenjamiesmith 1 year ago
64 bit is faster if u knew anything about computers or math u would know that something at a speed of 32 is slower then a speed of 64 the processor will be able to handle stuff twice as fast. Bit stands for binary digit. You would always want more because then you can have a faster better system. And your pc is slow probabily because your using vista/7 those use up a lot of your ram becuse it's graphical interface looks better.
maxamillion4536 1 year ago
@maxamillion4536 64 bit is faster on paper and in theory. I have had it be faster or slower depending on the computer it's running on.
jamesrschultz 1 year ago
@maxamillion4536 64 Bit stands for the MEMORY BANDWITH!!! Its nothing with more speed.
32 Bit was invented to hold memory arrays with a max amount of 32 bit. Now with 4 GB 32 bit is not enough to handle!!!
So they need to make the Bandwith higher!
Now they double it! And now you can have up to 128 GB RAM. Wait a few years and then there are 4 TB RAM :D
Too a 64 Bit processor can handle memory faster then 32 Bit. But only with better technology!
PS:Wikipedia is you friend!
MrGermanBratwurst 1 year ago
on anyy video i've ever seen with someone who posted there pc stats they never had more then 16gb. so i think it will be like 50 years till be use TB ram but by then Ram will be obsolete. we would have created some other type of chip to replace ram. or something.
maxamillion4536 1 year ago
@maxamillion4536 ... I have here at home a 6Slot PC and I have 12 4GB Ram Sticks. So that are 6x4=24 GB, which I could use :D
MrGermanBratwurst 1 year ago
24 you could use but i have no clue wat would need that much. and you said u had 12 4gb sticks which would men you have 6 random 4gb sticks that you cant use. why!? why would you buy 12 and only have room for 6. wats the point?
maxamillion4536 1 year ago
@maxamillion4536 I got many PCs and I have many things at home. I´m a really big electronic fan ;D
So I have some 4GB Sticks in my house... I use them for PCs !!Servers!! etc.
I don´t need all but if I have new one, I don´t smash this old ones into trash, so I have them in my Archive.
The point I don´t use 24 GB in my PC IS:
My CPU (i7 920) can handle 6GB WITHOUT DUALSLOT!!! on the cpu-chip itself, so no controller needed(which would make my pc slower!)
So I´m using 3x2 GB Ram Sticks ;D
MrGermanBratwurst 1 year ago
@maxamillion4536 PS: The point why I should use 24 GB is because I´m designer and i use many virtual machines! And a virtual machine USES MUCH OF RAM!
And thats why so many RAM could be good. Too if you create a 4048x4048 Picture, it uses around 188 MB of RAM. And then do a Fractal... OHH that use MUCH. Around 500 MB.
Too I´m a Game-Lover. And I need a PC where I could play some Games without my PC is fully BUSY! So I really need around 5 GB. And I Have 6 in ;D

5810Samuel 1 year ago
wow, your really don't know wat your talking about. you have 140 gb of hard drive space (Secondary memory). primary memory is Ram which the fastest pc prob only supports 16gb that ive seen in my life. 4gb is a good amount. your looking at your hard drive space, not ram.

if you knew something about what you talk about you would know why 64 bit uses more ram....
64 bit have more ram available so it saves the processes in the ram. And since ram is faster than the harddisk 64 bit works faster...
And if 64 bit is slower than 32 bit for you, your hardware sucks

Unless you run older 16bit dependant applications get Windows 64bit. X86 is becoming old and is becoming phased out over time. OEMs are increasingly selling 64bit Laptops now. Ignore this video because this guy has no idea what he is on about. I switched to 64bit Windows 7 and its amazing. I have it in a dual boot with 32bit though just in case. OR you can just use Virtual XP Mode in Win7 Pro or higher and use 64bit permantely. The only machine thats still 32bit in my house is my netbook.
jdcresswell 1 year ago
Ew 64bit Windows is just slow with me, unless you're on a quad core with more than 6GB of DDR3 RAM. 64bit Windows just isnt ready yet.
jamesrschultz 1 year ago

@jamesrschultz hey my 64bit switched to 32 bit and i think my 64 bit internet wireless thing doesnt work with 32 bit. how do i fix it?
ChaosBakaZ 1 year ago
64 OS does take up a little more in terms of hard drive space.
The reason you lost 1 gig of RAM on 32 bit is because it's max RAM is 4.2 gig (2^32 = 4.2 billion) Including your video RAM. So if your running 4 gig and 1 gig video ram. u will have 3 gig of system ram. 1.5gig for kernel usage, and 1.5 gig for application
Those you think 4 gig is plenty, your wrong. 1.5gig for application use it pretty average.
64 bit is simply better.
mrbarnes86 1 year ago
@mrbarnes86 Actually the reason why he lost a gig on 32bit is because 32 bit windows buts a cap on ram at 3.4gbs Microsoft did this to prevent errors, and video ram is different to normal ram, its stored on the graphics card itself, however you might be confusing vram with shared video memory which uses ram but this shows up as available to windows
olie440 1 year ago
@olie440
a processor with 32-bit memory addresses can directly access 4 GB of byte-addressable memory, doesn't matter where the memory is, the CPU can only access 4g.
Lots of misinformation out there.

the just under 1 gig was taken up by vista (memory hog)
and if your hard drive is filling up from programs YOU installed, that's your own fault. and you said you normally use less, then its not a problem then? you don't need more then? and you are complaining about it eating ram while you are uploading & recording...
this video is full of shit.
skierplaterandy 2 years ago
well if you upgrade to a 64bit system type, I recommend you over clock your CPU frequency as much as you think your CPU can handle, but I would recommend a little at a time of testing if your computer will except it.

32bit driver(physx, directx, hd desk..etc) has to be install inside the programfile x86 but most of application can be random install inside anywhere the hard drive.

you realize the 64 bit system is supposed to eat ram so it'll be able to give you better performance (like gaming and such) and vista was made to eat ram for some reason but...if you're not happy with the 64 bit system being awesome with it's uber power then go back to the dying breed a.k.a 32 bit system :P (no offence :O)
tabbiepsu 2 years ago
if you have more than 4gb ram then do 64 bit else its almost the same shlt as in 32-bit
neogaiden 2 years ago
thats because you need to have at least 8gb ram to run it normaly, but if you have that much of memory or even more, you will never want to go to the 32-bit structure.

So wait, x64 is slower than x32? On my Win 7 x64, all the x32 programs run at amazing speeds and all the other stuff I use have x64 bit support and I don't think I could go back to my x32 Win 7, it is noticeably faster for me given that you have a decent amount of ram.

kong288 2 years ago
Kong is correct, we've basically just moved to 64bit architecture, those of us who remember 16bit, know this transistion has been much much smoother (especialyl hardware), but really, if you have any decent gaming machine, 64bit is the way, I want to use all of my RAM (I have 6gb), so I run Win7 64bit, if I ran 32bit, I wouldn't get any more compatibility, and I'd lose 2.Xgbs
conza1989 2 years ago

32 bit has to run in compatibility mode? thats the biggest piece of rubbish ever. 64 bit processors can process 32 bit programs aswell. Hence why the architecture is called x64-x86.
