Clifford and Max are amazing, but check out the brilliance and imagination Sonny Rollins and his sense of humor (his love of quoting some very familiar motifs
This is some amazing work. I think of how young he was when he died to (@bable) and it breaks my heart 28 or 30? this guy was a monster at that young age - if only the world could have experienced what all he was capable of. But that's for another lifetime, I guess. I just love Clifford and I get all goosybumpy listening to him.
thanks for the post. (I too would love to hear 'Brownie's version of Tenderly'
No wonder the word among jazz musicians was "Never take a trumpet to Philadelphia!" Meaning, with Clifford Brown there in Philly, there was no one better that you could bring....
dnt read this(cuz it really wrks). u will gt kissd on the nearest frieday by the love of ur life. 2mara wll b the bst day of ur life hwever if you dnt post ths comment 2 at least 3 vids u will die withn 2 days nw uv startd readn this dnt stp this is so scary snd ths ovr 2 5 vids in 143 mins when ur done press f6 nd ur crush's name wll appear on the screen n big letters ths is so scary cuz it actully wrks ths really wrks
@CSERIOS It's available on 'Clifford Brown At the Cotton Club 1956' which is a 3 CD set wRollins,Powell, Morrow & Roach. I got it @blowitoutahere bout six months ago (around $14.00) & it is AMAZING, well worth finding & ordering. Most of the tunes are well over 10 mins in length. It's a must have for anyone who's interested in both C. Brown & S Rollins & Roach. It's a very good recording considering Clifford recorded it on his personal recorder.
Jazz Video Guy: Just great too hear this group in a club setting cutting loose and flowing you can tell their enjoying the setting.They are cooking.I know it's a group setting and they are playing as a group but it's as if they aren't going let each other out do the other!Your best post ever.Answer too Lazarus4200 this either late 1955 or 1956 just after Harold Land left the group.

Brownie died at the ripe old age of 26... His solos stand the test of time and are some of the greatest ever recorded.
usagooch 2 years ago
He was actually 25. He was born 30 Oct, 1930 and died 26 June, 1956, 4 months shy of his 26th birthday.

Thanks Logalogalog... I was confusing June 26th with his age.
It is an incredible legacy of work at any age!

@logalogalog
Correct but let's hear something from him!
