@summerchic21 This is a pure Asian Leopard Cat. The Bengal cat breed was started 25 years or more ago by breeding a pure Asian Leopard Cat with a domestic feral cat. In original breeding they were hoping the ALC's resistance to feline leukemia would pass on to the new domestic Bengal cat. The breed was further refined by Jean Mill who bred ALC's to other domestic breeds. The Bengals of today are many generations removed from the ALC, except in the cases of those breeders breeding EG Bengals

You're welcome! They are amazing animals with a large repetoire of vocalizations! They will even mimic birds. They listen & will learn it very quickly! They have different calls for different things & what they want from me or other animals. That's interesting about your Bengals - that would be the correct response as the baby was calling for me to pick it back up.

@JlOlSlE No, not aggressive at all! He is shy & will hide from strangers. The shyness is a typical Asian Leopard Cat trait & they prefer to hide or flee than turn to aggression. They prefer calmer, quieter environments & people. They can stress easily. They have a very sweet nature & are very loving. They bond strongly to humans, but it needs to be continuous or they revert back to the shyness of their nature in the wild. They are playful & like to be up high. More low key than a Bengal.

When they are little you can try ground turkey or cut up chicken or turkey (they prefer the dark meat (legs, thighs) very small. You need to put supplements on it. A exotic cat vitamin mix with extra Taurine and a calcium supplement as the meat leaches the calcium from their bones. If she's older then you can give her chicken (or turkey) drumsticks. Remove the skin and cut lines lengthwise (continued)

Depending what you have access to, you can feed some pinkies from a pet store (baby mice). They can also eat quail. You can try commercial food for exotics but depending what she was used to and how old she is she may not eat it. They are also the foundation cat for the domestic Bengal cat breed that was first crossed with a domestic or feral cat creating the Bengal 25 plus years ago. They are very shy by nature though & require constant interaction not to revert to their shyness of humans.

@Fionaandshayla You are on the low end & I did say if you are patient you can find them for that. I only know one breeder, then you make two that sell for that price range. Several between that & 10,000 & a couple higher up to 20,000. I know one breeder charging 15,000 lbs which is more than 20,000 US. Alot of people who breed them don't sell them, plus they only have 1-3 cubs & most breeders I know only breed once a year at most not to overstress the female so all this adds to the price.

@hope4cats no my dear, you cant say they are domesticated, they are tamed by being bottle fed. They will never be domesticated. Only tamed if you spend a lot of time with them and don't go to work! They can eat Zupreem if you wean them from the bottle to it.

You can go to work & they will remain "tame" as you say. You just can't go for periods with no contact. I have one that sleeps with me & sits on my lap when I'm on the computer & is more "tame" than my so called domestic cats. Also they don't have to be taken from their mother & bottle fed to be that way! I have both..

It depends on the relationship you have with the mother & if you can handle the babies every day. As for Zupreem I haven't fed it as I tend to prefer foods that don't use by-products (just my preference) however other exotics I can feed ground food but I've found ALC's to be more picky where food is concerned. Of course what you start when they are weaned makes a difference that's correct.
