This isn't so unusual...there are a shit load of videos on youtube with dogs chasing bears away...bears are usually non confrontational, so they just retreat.
@TheForwardGaze First of all, you are right about the word packs. It takes many wolves, 10 or more, depending on the bear, to drive it off. Secondly, you said wolves. Correct! But here there is only one Labrador and a Schnautzer, two breeds more then useless against a bear!
@SurfaceCollison It's natural for the dogs to chase him, even more so, they get bold when the bear is holdin back. BUT, the bear is afraid of us, people. That's why it ran away, not because there were 2 tiny dogs barking their ass off. Wild animals realize that where there are dogs, there are humans. They only fear humans. Leave your dogs unattended in a camp, while you go somewhere else and see if they are still alive when you get back.
@Sorvos A PERSON shot a gun and the bear still came back. The dogs chased it off and it didn't return, I don't usually agree with these Weird & True videos but that was pretty clear from the content.
@SurfaceCollison Free fish are too tempting for a bear to give up that easily. Although always wary, wild animals test a person's determination by trying. In this case, the people were rather interested in filming the bear, instead of gathering up and chasing after it. It the wild it takes about 10 wolves or more, depending on the case, to determine a bear to back down. So are you telling me that a Labrador and a chicken sized dog drove the bear back, which wasn't even paying attention at them?
@SurfaceCollison It takes special breeds of dogs to confront bears, like the Central Asian Shepherddog, Caucasian Shepherddog, Bucovina Shepherd dog and other powerful breeds, which also have to be in great numbers in order to determine a bear to think twice. My suggestion is to read more and go out there to meet some wild animals.
@Sorvos They definately would be, you see the problem is the dogs can easily out manuver bears. And they instinctively know how to deal with them. All my dogs have been like this and have chased numerous bears.
@drummerrb10 Its much more efficent to live life and learn from experience. Where I live we have bears visit my backyard and surrounding woods. My dogs have been dealing with the bears for well going on 8 years now. No bear can even come close to my dogs athletic prowless. They make light work of the bears and drive them off everytime. They have even been chased by a mother bear, she was hollin ass trust me, but it just wasnt enough. They just toyed with her.
I think its a good thing there was no fish actually lying there, otherwise the bears might have been bolder and taken out the dogs in a heartbeat. Obviously here the bears didnt see anything worth getting into a figh over.
@MK4YbestOf87 No, bears are afraid of dogss as they move to quick for the bear, the barking also annoys them so they will always run off, the smallest dogs are best for this.
sm idiots here fighting here dat lets see if dogs can chase dis or that... u saw they did chase away it n several others so u mean d documentary is not true... y sm dog hater doesnt want to accept that dog is a incredible fren of men... it surely knw what is it but dogs knw that its important to save their family... u can see in you tube that dog always hv other species friens and they go well with their frens... i knw i feel safe with my dog i dont knw bout others... cheers!!!
@GloomyBearEat that's total bullshit, my dog bullies dogs his size, but dogs bigger then him he respects lol. And bears just hate dogs, they're loud and annoying and hard for something so big to catch, they would rather just leave then deal with it.
2:11. "FEARLESS Protection from bear busting canine protection". Reminds me of a Line in Fearless (Jet Lee's Movie): Mastering others is called power, Mastering yourself makes you FEARLESS. Those 2 Dogs may know or understand those Chinese Philosophy:)
When you go into the wilderness like that, it's important that you remember you are in the bears territory. Dogs, especially young ones, tend to irritate or even attract bears. Not to mention having that fish out in the open like that; these people were just asking for trouble.
They are extremely lucky to have encountered such a docile grizzly.
Also, they are lucky to have survived this, and that their dogs were unharmed.
Do tell, a good bear dog is worth its weight in gold, but all the sourdoughs say never, never take anything less into bear country. The fool dog will run out and pick a fight with the first bruin it sees, then come running home to mamma, tail-between-legs.... with an enraged bear in hot pursuit.
@xRyxRyx oh yeah, good for you i bet you learned in a big city eh. I saw straight up my shit tzu/ mini poodle chase down a bear in front of me, don't learn that with a degree. You would also know that bears are not built to fight and only use intimidation tactics eh?
@xRyxRyx actually let me rephrase that last point, they try to only use intimidation tactics, and if you get scared your done. But dogs are loyal, and won't back down when their owner is in trouble. Trust me i've experienced it. Not read about it.
@xRyxRyx Bears aren't just afraid of dogs for no reason. Dogs especially LSGD like Kangals and Ovtcharkas can kill bears with ease, Wolves who can easily be killed by the aforementioned dogs kill bears in the wild over food alot. Bears are naturally afraid of things like spiders that is how they live so long but it is true when a mama bear feels her cubs are threatened or when a starving black bear hunts it is a very dangerous animal but it does not compare to the power to size ratio of a dog.
The bears didnt do anything wrong. The dogs werent heroes at all, it was anyone was in danger. He was inside his house taking a video. The dogs have balls tho
my friend had two malamutes, titan and cyclops (he had one good eye), both huge 150 pound males, he was camping and fishing in upper alaska with his two dogs and had been storing several fish in coolers next to his tent (bad idea)..a large grizzly paid a visit to his campsite and unlike the bear in the video which ran away, this one stayed for a fight, dogs can only injure a bear, not kill it,the bear was eventually driven off, but cyclops was killed defending his owner, titan was badly injured
@RedPyramid1000 I think the man meant that the dog was seeing it in that way. Quote: ' It was protecting it's territory...' was what he said, just before '...and there was this big old bear that shouldn't be there.' This implies that the dog, not the human, felt intruded upon. Since the dogs recognize that place as their home. (if your going by those set words. It was quite clear that the humans tried to shoo away the bear too.) Just wanted to put that out there.
I've readed about dogs that dogs wing their tail on left side when they are happy/exited but on right side when they have aggression situtations. Those both dogs definitely wings their tails on left side, which just tells that those dogs don't know that bear is dangerous, dogs are happy/exited from the bear and they more likely want's to play with it.
That's so funny because that bear could EFFORTLESSLY kill any one of those dogs with a single blow. Just goes to show how much psychology matters in these things.
the guy that said the bear would swing at the dog and lay it to pieces.. true. but did u know they did a test. They put a baby pupy, tiger and bear and let them grow up together and the dog grew up as the pack leader? They found out that the dog wasnt the strongest but just the "BARK" of a dog shows dominant and leadership over other animals. When the dog barked they came to attention and went after what the dog did. So maybe that had something to do with this video? idk
bear is very powerful without any doubt.it can kill a moose. you can see it on youtube. but the bear cannot catch the agile dogs and the incessant barking is obviously irritating.
these fool....they obviously dont know bear is not going to start fight with dogs which the bear was concern that the dog's barking may attract their human owner with guns that would give the bear an instant kill with just a blast on the skull. try to send couple of "muted" dog and i assure you these dog will not make it back alive...
Whoever mentioned that a dog can kill a brown bear of this size is out of his mind. There's no dog on the planet that could stand toe to toe with a powerful beast like this. Bears have a layer of fat under their skin that makes it very tough to hurt. On top of that it's skull is strong enough to whack with a ball bat and it won't even phase it. The bear is the ultimate killing machine and that goes for black bears as well.
