Sorry but I prefer VGA and other graphics over this sort of thing. I'm surprised people are happy about it just because it's nostalgic for them....if I had had to play this game with no colors or in CGA version I'd be mad and probably hate the game. But since I got to play with color VGA or whatever....much love for the game.
Are the graphics on a real "white" screen that dark? I've mostly seen pictures and videos from green screens, which suggest that the graphics were normally brighter. There was some discussion about this in the dosbox forum, and someone made patch, that made some games look more accurate, at least it looked like it for some specific games and with "green" settings.
@PuristRealist the screen is black/gray, not black/white. but this could be to make the image easier on the eye or to match the brightness setting of the guy's old monitor.
Anyway, the higher resolution doesn't give any more detail. The original graphics were done in 320x200, and the extra resolution is used for dithering (to give the illusion of more than two colours), which makes it look less clear IMO.
It's actually looking much better than monochrome CGA, much better contrast and palette. Just compare to my Video of monkey island on the mono CGA display of a 1992 Highscreen handy Organizer - in mono CGA the characters looks much worse than on hercules.

Also this game was to think and use logic game there was no violence was healthy.
Thanks for uploading remember who had the xt and had to put two 5.1 to prosess the information and then demanded the game floppy diskettes were 5.1 / 4 or something haha greetings.

@LaukkuTheGreit Yeah! tried it. you have to push f11 and it swithes between black and white, green and amber!! and with the speakers emulation it´s like having back mi old 80286 with prince of persia
It's like Monkey Island on Game Boy.

This looks like it had been stitched, one can barely make out what's on the screen! I did love the orange/black monitors in my dormitory though :D

actually, this was better than the CGA version.. sure it's only monochrome but its at 720×348! CGA was only 320x240

A pity they don't make games with PC speaker musics and sounds anymore, just recorded wave...
Well, there is hardly any PC speaker in todays computers. But my older PC has one that is so loud we get deaf when it beeps, yeah!

do you know of you can put in dosbox hecules with ambar graphics? I had this monitor in that time and I would like to revive it again :)
