Samsung HD Omnia Vs iPhone - Review

The TV-out comes out from the 3.5 mm jack ;) After a 2-year time, battery is still doing its job (lasts about 3 days of normal activity). Camera (8mpx) is working fine though you have to stand still a few seconds after the shooting click. After i've used this phone I can say: This was a good investment and it made the difference between other phones at the time Omnia HD was born. SAMSUNG Touchscreens are the best phones on the market with the best price-quality rating. I'll buy me Galaxy S2 now!

the phone cannot play back hd video, as it's resolution is only 640x360 all u get is standard video quality. we'll not be seeing phones able to play 1280x720 (hd 720p) anytime soon

@TheSkizsus You need good optics too and just because it is high res doesn't mean it will be sharp, it depends on the lence too. And if the camera is physically too small the number of megapixels will make the picture worse.

@2silvertv That's so true! I have this phone and the problem is here that the quality is not that good (like Blunty said, a bit grainy in movies). The picture quality is pretty good though. I could do with 5 megapixels and better optics. With the iPhone 4 the Samsung Omnia will bite the dust when it comes to software and image quality, but hey...this phone is a couple of years older as well :P

I still use the Samsung Omnia HD, didn't find an equal phone till today (non- Android). Also the stereo sound on it is truly incredible. Can't probably outperform the 2010 - 2011 phones like iPhone 4 but it's still good enough to compete with a lot of new phones outthere.

I've had the first Omnia 900 for almost four years and after having dropped it (on concrete) a million times it is still working fine. The camera takes great photos and is good enough for the family album. Unfortunately it chews the battery while on navigation, so looking for the newer Samsung to take me to 2015 or more.

The i8910 is almost 2 years old now, yet it's still the best mobile phone by miles when it comes to sound quality and loudness both via headphones and speakers. the galaxy s was such a let down due to it's standard speakers and no DNSe 2.0 (Digital Natural Sound Engine). i hope samsung sort this out for the galaxy S2

yo dude, I own this phone, bought it about 3 months ago but it sucks as to what I have experienced, internet is super slow, the pictures I take are just fucked up, no good quality and very small eventhough it's set on 1600*900 or more and 8MP everytime.

nice review but even with a great hardware the os killed this phone.lack of apps lack of games lack of samsung support and no multitouch.and yes it can record hd videos but the sound is mono and horrible specially when you try to record at concert.the image quality is good but pics are kinda blurry sometimes and the only good thing is the display and the screen.this could be a great phone if it had the right support from the start but it didnt.so iphone still wins sorry

The MAJOR downside to ALL the smartphones I've seen up until now is the eye candy...I don't need my mobile phone to have a 50 MP camera with 3 flashes on it's back, I want it to look nice when it rotates the screen for example, or do a fade thing with it opens something, something pleasant for the eye.

Apple iPhone seems to have that rotation thing, while others just blank the screen for a moment and then you're in landscape, I can't have a phone like that.

That's why I'll stick to apple for now

The iphone 4 is the best retina display is sweet, the glass is 7 times stronger then plastic with a stainless steal band and internal, 3.03 ghz of speed fast then an some laptops. Apps, what some phones have and try to beat but fail the iphone play movie games better then a psp,

I decided to go with the Omnia last time as opposed to the old iPhone. I definitely felt let down at the reliability of the old Omnia. The reception would always cut out, it would lag like hell and heck sometimes i couldn't even receive a call. Not sure which way i'll sway when i buy my next phone but this review has definitely made the new Omnia more attractive and makes me forget of its past indiscretions.. Good job!

I have an idea for a smartphone it has a full touchscreen on one side which curves all the way around to the other side! the idea is that if you want to do something like play a game, unlike other touchscreen phones, you have the advantage of peripheral buttons on the back to make game play less cluttered. another advantage is that if you want to show your friends something you took a photo of you don't have to turn the thing around to show them, rather the image be displayed on opposite side.

I have the Samsung Jet, but plan on getting this phone. At the bottom right hand corner of the Omnia Hd's display I noticed the small lock icon. Does this remain on the phone, or can it be removed so that you don't see the lock icon all the time?

I've had this phone for a few months now and the only problem I had with it was the battery that comes with the phone. First week was just great, never dies but as soon as you recharge it goes flat in hours. I got two new batteries now from Momax and they are just great. I suggest others should get them. They got stand alone charger as well that you can buy separate so you don’t have to use you’re phone to charge the battery every time..

And by the way... I HATE APPLE :-)
