I saw this about 7 years ago when it traveled to my city. It was my first seeing a live musical. And it blew my mind. I now love shows like Cats, the Phantom of the Opera, Hair, Hairspray, and for funny slightly adult humor, Avenue Q.
We baba zingela siyo zingela baba Zingela siyo, zingela baba [Hunting, we are going hunting] Hi ba la qhubekeni siyo zingela [Let us go and hunt] Ta ta Mama wele le hay Ta ta mama wele tata Zingela baba Ta ta Mama wele le hay Ta ta mama wele tata Zingela baba Oo yay ye nibo (Repeat)
I was touring with my high school choir a few years ago and this was one of the songs we had to perform. One day when we were walking back to where we were all staying we just started performing this song for no other reason than we felt like. It was the most pure fun I've ever had singing anything.
Omygod. I remember watching Broadway in Toronto when I was around 6. Just by hearing this song I can remember the graceful dances of the masked lionesses, how much they amazed a child's eyes. Truly wonderful music, African Choirs have to be my favourite. <3. TLK forever, friends.
@swordmaster39 yeah it is! thats pretty cool! i bet your choir sings it better than us... it also pisses me off the way they arranged it and how some things are in the wrong key!!!!
@swordmaster39 INO!!! i dont get why the songs that contain themes that carry through the entire play arent in it. The songs in it are meant to be said like lines!! Im so glad im not the only one who thinks this! :)
I have loved the Lion King, the movie version, since I was born. (No exaggeration) I have only just discovered the musical, and I think it's safe to say that the musical puts the movie to shame.
Even though I have never seen the Lion King Broadway musical from the TV performances I have on computer and all the clips I've seen on Youtube I must say I love it I would have to say it's my all time favourite musical.
African tribal chant is some of the best and most beautiful music in the world. Really any type of tribal chant really...how do i describe it? cleanses your soul. South American, Native American, African, Na'vi (XD) they are jut all wonderful!
@MissGryffindor07 I think the reason why you don't undestand any of the lyricsa is because it's Zulu which is one of the many languages spoken in Africa.
This is officially my favorite song on the soundtrack. Lion King on broadway deserves a bunch of Tony awards...and i haven't even seen it live yet! HAHA
Saw this at the westend. totally amazing. I can;t find a song though... sung by older nala and the lionesses. when she goes off to find simba. if anyone can drop me a vine (teehee... xD) i'll appreciate it muchly :D
i agreeee so much i saw this like not to long ago it blew eyes away and they were going on the huant....i just feel inspired when i hear it actaully all the songs
Saw it on Broadway and oh my goodness, it was so amazing. I was singing along like a little kid. Im not ashamed to say The Lion King is my favorite movie ever...alongside The Lord of The Rings xD
This is such a cool song :) when I had to audition for a dance company at a local dance studio, my teacher used this song for the try-out dance... sooo fun! I wish I could've seen the play :) Thanks for posting this!
lyrics:Beginning of song 4 times then Zingela siyo, zingela baba Zingela siyo, zingela baba Zingela siyo, zingela baba Hi bah la su bay bay siyo zingela Ta ta ta *4 times** Ta ta wele la hey ahh ta Wele la hey ahh ta Wele zingela baba Oo yay ye(hold for 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8) nibo Oo yay yee (hold for 1-2-3-4) nibo yay ye nibo Ta ta wele **wait** Ta ta Ta ta wele zingela ba ba Ta ta wele *wait* ninbo yay ye nibo
Tpday I saw this magnific show! I will return to see again! This along with Spamalot and Walking with Dinosaurs Arena are my 3 favourite !

This was a fantastic scene on Broadway. If you havent seen it, you really, truly should.
I had goosebumps the whole time. I almost cried right from the beginning.
I bear no shame in saying it!

@triciakitty they're probably hyenas that have been kicked out of the pridelands and are jealous of the lionesses who have a wider choice of prey. :)
