The HFV6 was designed by Holden and Cadillac, all HFV6 engines in cars sold in Australia are manufactured in Melbourne. All of the V6 engines in Pontiac G8s were also manufactured in Melbourne.
GM is not Chevrolet. Chevrolet is only a part of GM, just like Opel, Vauxhall and Holden.

Hey, I'm American but I don't care what badge is on it. I'm grateful that the Holden peeps brought a couple over as Pontiac. I love the Commodore (G8) and the Monaro (GTO). They almost brought the Holden Ute as the Pontiac G8 ST but it was canceled once the brand fell and now it's being considered to still come over to the States as the Chevrolet El Camino. That ute is smexy. I will buy one if it does come over. No doubt. Now if Ford can bring over the Falcons. Keep up the good work Australia!

A lot of Americans (even those that acknowledge that these cars are imports) fail to understand the significance of Holden as an Australian automaker prior to 2004, sort of believing Holden was created just to build GTOs for the American market.
Holden had been building good cars for 56 years before the Monaro was exported to the USA. That was all I was trying to say.

@MrSnow042 PS.. VE SS are heaps of shit that only output about 150HP per tonne.. my piss ant little GTI swift has 300BHP per tonne and easily twice as cheap to A: RUN and B: Maintain. A Unique and very accurate description of how most of us all feel. And also, love the Melbourne flavour to the video, and i also love the unique aussie sense of humour, that allows most of us to laugh at each other. Hey, I'm American but I don't care what badge is on it. I'm grateful that the Holden peeps brought a couple over as Pontiac. I love the Commodore (G8) and the Monaro (GTO). They almost brought the Holden Ute as the Pontiac G8 ST but it was canceled once the brand fell and now it's being considered to still come over to the States as the Chevrolet El Camino. That ute is smexy. I will buy one if it does come over. No doubt. Now if Ford can bring over the Falcons. Keep up the good work Australia!

I made the comment because you said that you liked the GTO and the G8 and said "keep up the good work".
A lot of Americans (even those that acknowledge that these cars are imports) fail to understand the significance of Holden as an Australian automaker prior to 2004, sort of believing Holden was created just to build GTOs for the American market.
Holden had been building good cars for 56 years before the Monaro was exported to the USA. That was all I was trying to say.

We aren't that stupid some maybe just never heard of you guys and the GTO was a platform to get noticed in the States but true enthusiasts always knew you guys have existed. Hence, we kept bitching to GM to bring Holdens up here. We moaned to Ford to bring up the Falcon and Falcon Ute they're both excellent.
