Wow, maybe it's time to rip this LP and burn me a CD. Great album. We used to play it on KBEY radio in Kansas City. Where did all you folks that heard it on radio hear it? I'd like to know what stations played it.
im hopefully goin to get around to the alzo page this fall.....i just spent a year working on a music video for OOZE...sorry it took so long to write back...you willbe the first to know of any updates i promise.....i also am trying to get alzo placed in certain commercials or movie spots...it just takes so much time, and i have so little of it, but slowly i get around to it....drop a line anytime!
I'm pretty sure I still have the original 45 of this record somewhere in my stacks. We played it very little at the station where I was working, but I kept a copy since it was so unique.
I first heard Alzo on the radio in 1973. His songs are as fresh and beautiful now as they were then. I always play his songs, I was so pleased when all 3 albums were released on CD. He was so very talented as a songwriter and a singer. He will live on in spirit forevermore.
I was 14 when I first heard his voice. Now it is 2009 and foung this LP in my parent's attic. Luckily I still have a phonograph. I can't wait to return hom eand play his music loudly!
So, from what I have read ( which is scant) was he had one album and died posthumenously. What happened, why did he have just one great album, I look forward to the wiki as well.
thank you so much for posting this. alzo was my uncle. and all in our family loved his vibe and music. im selling 2 xtra copies of his looking for you albums on ebay. im not sure if he did work the mailroom or not. i was such a small child at the time. i will have to ask his wife yvonne (my aunt). but again thank you for posting this. im goin to be desiging a wikipedia for alzo and many of the hundreds of pictures i have on myspace. thanks again!...~Damion!
Thanks for your comment. I talked to your aunt over messages. Hope everything works out fine with the japanese reissue. More people really need to hear this fantastic album.
Always amused when I find someone who remembers an obscure tune/artist from my past... Alzo was the mailroom guy at Ampex Records, which was the place of my first employment in the music business. Such a nice guy, and obviously a talented singer/songwriter. I was very distressed when he passed.
love the beginning

Right around the same time (prodigiously talented) Todd Rundgren was at Ampex too...somehow or other I don't think he came from the mailroom though
