  • I love how that cat is just randomly there.

  • Hello, i have some questions. why do you do such a small movement i thought russian swings was up to 90° with your arms.

Then to the next one, at my crossfit gym they teached me the american swings and that it was better to do a full movement without using your arms?

What do you think about the american swings?

  • This is the best honest presentation of the swing I've seen on the internet. It even feels different, people try it.

  • I'm a Jillian fan, I love her workouts. However I'm not getting the kettlebell vid due to this and multiple bad reviews everywhere else. I'm following Lauren Brooks' videos on the KB and it's done wonders for my core.

  • Dude, you should call this "how to do a half kettlebell swing" and seriously, that took WAY TOO LONG!

  • @gregdudak I have heard that this is bad for you, so i wouldn't do such a swing at all. You should do a full swing thats what the body is used to. When you sit you don't go half way down... and yes i think it's way to long as well...

  • I was taught to exhale on way down...it seems as though you are exhaling on way down? What is correct?

  • @fiddlehead333 I'm inhaling on the back swing through the nose and exhaling sharply through the teeth. This is correct.

    '

  • @fiddlehead333 Inhale on the descent to construct a pneumatic girdle.

  • I'm not RKC certified or anything but I've bought Pavels "Enter the Kettlebell" and have seen other techniques such as Steve Cotters and Steve Maxwells technique and I instantly knew that that $#!T she was teaching was absolute nonesense! Her people need to be injured by being forced to do that $#!T herself for 36hrs straight! Her whole business is based on how many people she can take advantage of at one time. Thanks!

  • I'm not qualified to talk "american swing" as I am not CF certified. I do prefer to get the KB overhead using other modes though.

  • What about the "american swing"?

    That's still eligable, right?

  • It seems like you have to lock your knees with your technique, and this concerns me as I would like to use them next month :)

Seriously, though, do you find that this causes later knee pain? I try NOT to lock my knees when I do my swingsand I am curious about long term effects.

...But I do like your video overall.

  • @aslmyk I understand your concern. Think pulling the knee up and into the quadriceps rather than hyper extension of the knee. We really want to make sure we fully engage the glutes in order to protect the low back and that is very hard to do without a straight let. I've been lucky enough to never have had a knee injury from kettlebell training, or anything else for that matter. I did used to experience lower back pain and KB training has solved that ill.

  • Thanks:)

  • Thumbs up for the cat randomly chillin out

  • cute kitty

  • We have to be open minded with these kettlebells. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH!!!!!! you can certainly add a squatting component to it, if you would like. As long as it does not violate any biomechanical laws!!!!!!!

    Open your minds.... people!!!!!

  • why are so many commenting on correcting form for videos(notice it here and others) that have RKC trainers. i get some styles are different but they are all better then jillians and all these kettlebell "lite" workouts that seem to be hitting the market. i am for RKC all the way! and seeing i am far from a master i won't tout form to the experts trained in it. and pavel always said look to the horizon when doing the swings ;)

  • You should be closer to "following the bell" with a swing then looking forward. You should always keep a neutral spine. Ask any Z-Health trainer. So you don't follow the bell, but you are incorrect in your form to look forward. Once you break a neutral spine, you instantly make yourself weaker.

  • Excellent Demonstration! Bonus points for the random cat wandering in and out of the shot.

  • Fine video instruction here, honestly the instructor looks a bit like retired soccer great Zinedine Zidane with possibly the exception of more definition in the legs. I'd think kettlebells would do that for a person. The quality of the video is fine and very instructive.

  • very helpfull. i just started and was doing more of a squat. don't go to high with the ball and don't dip the knees? concentrate on the glutes and hips moving foreword?

  • Thanks jacisparrow for your comment. I did perhaps post this in haste but showing better technique in response to Jillian Michaels was more important to me. Have a great day and I appreciate you stopping by.

  • Next time you post an instructional video, I would try organizing the information and having an easy to follow format. The video is a bit long and all over the place. It came off as somewhat unprofessional and disorganized.

  • Nice demo Sandy. Remember the 3 pries. ;)

  • Thanks so much for the great informative video! I first saw the use of kettle bells in the UK Biggest Loser and their technique was exactly like yours. Seeing Jillians way confused me.
