Obviously you do not understand the word compromise. Compromise means both parties give some and take some. Grassley refuses to allow a government takeover of healthcare, good for him! That does not mean that he is not willing to work with democrats who are willing to drop the "government option" for other reforms of the healthcare system. Remember, he never said he is not for reform, he said he is not for a government takeover of the healthcare system.
Perhaps Grassley is willing to support reforms that don't include the creation of nationalized health care. But no one seems to have brought up any alternatives to nationalizing health care.
In essence, you either support the nationalizing of health care or you are labeled an obstacle to reform.
There can be no compromise between the republicans and democrats: their positions are black and white. Conservatives believe that this bill will lead to a government takeover of health care and , therefor cannot support a "public option". The problem is that Obama is too rational, logical, nice and a good man. We need an asshole as a President (with Obama's agenda to get things done :)) What am I saying? we had one...but he brought to us deficit, debth, and death, uneployment, collapse of free market capitalism, Iraq disaster, politicized justice, injustice, torture, destruction of privacy and personal freedoms, etc and turned this beautiful country into a third rate banana republic with nukes. I will absolutely LAUGH MY ASS OFF if Healthcare Reform passes and Republican's had their chance to be apart of it and didnt!!! It will be VERY interesting to see if Grassley keeps his seat in 2010. If anyone's falling apart it's the GOP...getting a wee bit panicky....,making more and more mistakes...can't keep their stories straight...scattering around like RATS in the dark....LOVE IT!!!!
