Is it wrong that I really want all civilians who carry to go through courses like this? I haven't been able to and it's irritating. Let's face it, unless you're a cop or in the military, your training will be limited at best and in the face of a situation where you need to use lethal force there is nothing you will be really prepared for. Am I wrong?
First and foremost...keep training hard and stay safe. Questions: What's with all the Jack Bauer bent elbows, and what's with the Charlies Angels straight down low ready? I think I saw one Sul position, and no combat tucks. Re-reading this, I see I sound critical, please know I'm not trying to be....the questions are sincere. Different agencies train differently after all.
In a situation with an Active Shooter, I totally agree that the first responders to the scene should tactically enter the location as soon as possible before the situation gets worst and take out the threat. The problem is, when their supervisors and higher up supervisors show up at the scene. They have no balls and try to orchestrate a plan of action that will take to long. By that time is too late and more fatalities could increase. They want no blame for any mistakes done by their officers
I really hope they have done a lot more practicing since this vid...criminals are getting smarter and using actual tactics. Heck I knew of a few hundred recruits at USMC basic that were discharged because they were found to have active gang ties and later admitted that they joined for the training. Shits getting tight…police, military and civilians alike really need to get proactive and take this crap seriously. Maybe I’m judging to harshly?
Watch a Pre-January 8th copy of Inception. Listen closely when the actors say imagine, reality, and safe, or point pistols. You'll hear the words, Loughner, offin' her, part of the word Giffords, and much more. Some say they hear, do it.
My comments are not a knock on the instructors by the way. This is why we train at drills like this. You will see that not all your officers are trained up appropriatly and that others just don't have the stomach for it.
Yes seriously, If you push to contact you MUST finish. In the LE world supressive fire is not blind. It is timed and aimed. If the push to contact and allow the bad guy to get away they are just going to encourage him to activate any devices he may be carrying or they may simply push him into fleeing victims and up his kill count. Rapid and Immidiate Deployment (RaID) is not for the soft of heart, and that's why it's the best chance we have. There was no patty-cake being played at Beslan.
I guess I'm a Debbie Downer but why was the right flank engaging a threat while the rest of the formation was just holding still? Three assault teams vs One Bandit? I hope they don't wait for that many officers if my kids in trouble? The coppers on the stairway are engagin the bandit and back off? Let's use our suppressive fire right and we'll have enough ammo to win the fight!
I'm sure the instructors addressed all that with the trainees, Good stuff!
@AJS0121 yeah wouldnt they have radios, that way you dont have all 3 teams standing in the same spot... if not radios, hand signals or use of voice to co-ordinate flanking movements?
i was actually a role player for homeland security. its a lot of fun being on the terrorist side haha. but police do learn a lot from this, WORTH IIIIIIIIIIIIIT!
Not a tactical officer, nor do I play one on TV (but I have been a police officer and worked security for several years). I think the basic concepts and techniques are sound. What bothers me is the lack of speed in most of the example videos I see. When the shooter is walking around executing people at will, I think a more dynamic tempo is called for. Just my opinion, but given the circumstances I think some safety and thoroughness can be sacrificed in the name of speed.
@ktphotog39 Slow is smooth, smooth is fast :) I guess that's why they're training though, to get good before they have to do it in real life. I think it's probably harder to slow yourself down and do it carefully than it is to do it fast and lose your cohesion. Another thought - I understand that bunching up keeps them together, but doesn't that make you a fat juicy target to get three at a time? Is that to maximize coverage?
@solozaur Dont group all cops and most of the time the people are resisting in the videos so the cop hits him so he'll cooperate with him, so what are you talking about?
What kind of training weapons do they use for exercises like this? Are these like small caliber paintball guns purpose made for training, or are they using normal firearms with some sort of paintball training round?
Just a suggestion here, I was unable to hear the audio very well(on my end) It appears that you are re-enacting a school shooting, probably the most likely active shooter scenario. Your "bad guys" appear to be 30 to 40 years old. In this case your bad guy will most likely be 12! NOBODY wants to shoot at a picture of a kid, much less an "actual" kid, but I would recommend training accordingly because if/when this happens....well, I'm sure you know the rest. Just my opinion
@coyotebaitone acually adults enter schools with firarms alot. we have had 2 in colorado where the shooter was 20 or older. one got in the school and one did not.
I helped my county police department, and a local county, with Active shooter a few weeks ago. All the bad guys got glocks, and the cops got AR15's, which was bull crap because rifle beat glock every time.
But it was a lot of fun, and they learned some serious lessons. My favorite part was when the squad's rear guard was holed up next to a door across the hall from a dark closet I was hiding in. I came crawling out of the darkness at him and he shouted "WHO THE F@#$ IS THAT!?" Good times.
White people are invading the homes of innocent people all over the planet and raping and killing the inhabitants - prepare yourself for their invasion of your home - don't let them take you to their death / torture camps!
If they are torturing the Saints (Muslims), then you know that whites have no morals nor the spirit of God!
Im sorry to say this but alot of this stuff is unsound. You guys are bunched up together and would be easy to kill. One pie slice with an SKS or AK and you're all dead. You really need to rethink this. Someone with any amount of MOUT training will eat you up. If you can't go into a building safer than this you don't need to be going into the building.
@mos13foxtrot - Point made. However, responding as a police unit is much different than kicking doors in Iraq! It's not an issue of going in "safer" when a gunman is killing unarmed civilians, which is what this excercise is portraying. I think the unarmed kid huddled under a desk would rather we go in with a swift show of force, regardless of how safe it may be for us, rather than wait for a tactical team to show up, stack up, and enter more "safely". Thanks for your input! Go Army!
@kotro88 You guys know better than I do the risk you're putting yourselves in. I also imagine theres more to this training than whats shown in these small videos. I admire the way you put your mission in focus and admit i hadn't considered it the way you have. Salute. Hope you guys never have to use these skills and God's speed if you. BTW I am now a rookie LEO in Texas. I'll try to be more of a learner from now on and less of a preacher. Keep up the good work, Sir.
so videos like this that are cut and edited do not reveal a whole lot... now if you do want to learn something that does Google tactical or other terms like and you might be surprised (or not surprised) at how much you find. I just look to get better at paintball and air soft and i found tons of law enforcement notes that showed pictures and diagrams. They were easy to find. They were easy to learn...
Stop the bullshit, even SWAT gets killed by average shooters... it's called go to the range, don't pay these fat cunts anything for advice... train on your own system and go to blackwate (Xe) where US Army Delta force fights, if these fools ain't delta, buy bullets and hit the range. Peace--
They're smarter than that. They don't show even 15% of what they do during training, or tactical movement or anything like that. You're not going to learn enough off a youtube video without experience. I'm going for ARMY MP. Hooah!
I think at some point the Law enforcement community has to say...Lets stop giving away the little bit of tactical advantage we gain by training on a method.. and then showing that method on YOUTUBE.........Wake up assholes! Theres gonna be no more need for active shooter training when the next gen of bad guys learns from this
I am one of the trainers that conducted this training. Let me assure you that in no way did we give up any "tactical advantage" by showing what was aired in this video. There is A LOT more behind this training that we DON'T share with the public. There is nothing shown here that a person couldn't figure out on their own in about a day on a paintball course or from a video game. Thank you for your concern over our safety, but I can assure you we are ok with what was presented here.
@kotro88 its all about who knows the terrain better. a kid who has gone to a highschool and walked the corridors everyday will have a built in advantage over responding LOE. I think it has been a huge step for with the engage active shooter policies but if kids go off the deep end its pretty much a loose loose. Even if a unit can respond in 2-3-4 minutes a semi trained shooter can mt a few hundred rounds by that time. Spend this training money to be proactive not reactive.
@kotro88 put a few resource officers in schools. get with the PTA and school board to end bullying put added responsiblity in the hands of parents and if they are capable of rearing stable children remove the kids from the home.
@kotro88 only in America lol looks like fun but its teaching kids and the police how to deal in a situation like that so it dose not end end up like columbine
I agree with dpc1569. What could you possibly gain from posting this on YOUTUBE other than showing all these DB's out there what the police do. I typed in Active shooter to find schools to go to and I get all these YOUTUBE videos of cops training. NOT SMART on the Agencies that did that.
