  • Most the time it is not attention seeking. But if it is it is stiill pretty serious that someone goes to that extent to get the attention they desire. Stay strong (:

  • Self Harm is definitly not for attension seeking. Yes some people do it for attension but with those kind of people they don't continously do it. I think it is a terrible way to get attemsion

  • attention seeking is a thing of the mind and it's difficult because it can be a real problem like it is for me I personally don't want it but theirs like a voice (sort of) that say what to do to get attention. Attention seeking is two thing you HAVE to be the best & you HAVE to have the most tragic story just like any other disease or depression It hurt a lot to know what is happening and that you hurt the people around you yet you can't do nothing about it :'(

  • All your videos are true. It's taken a LOT of courage, but I talked to my friend about my self harming. I would trust my life with her and she hasn't said a word. She's amazing. xx

  • I only told one person because I felt guilty and that one person knows everything about me. I cover up my scratches and I wear bracelets up to my elbow in the summer. It's not for attention, it to cope

  • do u consider this attention seeking:the first time i cut i was rlly depressed and suicidal and i herd about cutting and i tred itand it made me feel better and i was addicted after that and only 4 ppl now about it (mom sister gf and bff) and only 2 have seen the scars well ive talked enugh bye -ben

  • @PEPPEPPEP100 don't ask silly questions, if you did it because you were depressed, then you did it because you were depressed.

if you did it for attention then you did it for attentiom.

i don't understand why you would even ask that...

  • Till after my friend they thought I was doing it for attention and copying her which was sooo hard to cope with, so yea I know how u feel - sorry to drag on so long and do this in two comments =S xx

  • I know how you feel. I'm only 12, I've only been self harming for 5 months (long story why) once I was on webcam with my friend and her boyfriend and she got out a razor and cut herself in front of us smiling about it. I go into school the next day and EVERYBODY knows, even teachers - turns out she had posted a picture of her arm on Facebook -_- Only two of my friends know about me doing it because the three of us went swimming and I didn't know how to hide it and because they didn't find out

  • I hid my cuts from everybody but my best friends,I actually begged one friend to take a look.I only did it because I wanted her to tell me to stop and that she cares. But it's 31°C outside now and I'm wearing long sleeves and long pants...So,I guess I was seeking for attention, but only from my best friend.I don't anymore,I actually told them I stopped but I haven't,just so they can lead their normal lives.

Our friendship kinda died, because she laughed at me and told me I'm gross because I cut.

  • .... ok ill be honest, i only clicked on this video cus it looked like u were topless xD lol :P

  • omg you look so different compare to this now :')))

not that im looking at all your old videos that i've watched like 4 times before cause i have nothing better to do D: xx

  • @weehollydolly HAHAHAHAA omg i know! and my hair is rather short on here D: fun life you have there holly :')

  • @Downtownpatrol oh i know..this is how every teenage girl spends their weekends looks at videos they've seen so many times before i could probably say it word for word WITH THE GEORDIE ACCENT! :D<3 haaahahaa:L<3

  • @Izzytheferret grrr I meant at most 6...

  • I've been selfharming as a whole since I was at least 6... The cutting and burning didn't start till I was 8 or 9... But I'm 14 now, close to 15. Mine was not attention seeking, no one had a clue until a lil after my 13th bday... Then I gave up on hiding it... Even though at this point almost everyone in school knows, I didn't do it for attention. A rumor started and in March I just grew fed-up with it and posted the truth on facebook... Not my finest moment...

  • Not for attention I do it

  • @georgiabulldog13 i'm aware :L

  • its deffinatley not for attention, i cut for real reasons, not for attention. if it was for attention everyone who self harms would have thier cuts and scars constantly on show.

  • covering up only brings more attention, like people wearing scarves trying to cover up hickeys.

if you're going to do it -- and well you said you were stopping -- but if you are, do it in a more concealed place, REALLY!!!! duh!

  • it depends ... My bestfriend Cut herself .. and I knew it was for attention , because she generally is a follower and copies people , and she heard about cutting and decided to try it to get her crush to feel sorry for her . That's just what I think . But it can be very serious for lots of people , But I knew it wasn't for her .

  • PEOPLE SELF HARM IS NOT FOR ATTENTION please listen to laura (that is yer name rite?!!) seriously yeh some peeps do do it 4 attention but most really dont want any attention form it at tall as laura said you do any thing to skip P.E or what ever and yes self harm, its a bad thing no 1 is sayin its good but really dont judge every 1 just cause some idiots do it 4 attention like ive never showed any 1 my cuts or scars and i dont plan to any time soon but every 1 can have der own opinion. great vid

  • heya, i think its very good that u raise attention with this video. it makes my feelings good about self harming.

  • Well I Started In Secret But Now All Of My Close Friends Know, And Im Happy They Do.I Hid It From Everyone First, Then Told The People I Knew Best, Then It Spread Around. But Its Only People I Care About That Know =] Id Rather The Knew Me For Who I Am, And I Dont Cover Up, I Dont Care Who Knows, Its Me, If Someone Doesnt Like It, They Dont Have To Know Me, How Much Of A Difference Does It Make To Their Life?

  • I have told people about my SH easily but I'm very close with all of them and it is a common topic, but not like "ohhh cool scars" it's more trying to understand it... Which is actually why I started..ha.... Would you consider that attention seeking?

  • @cassidyteufel no not at all, i've done that. I only find it that way when people compare sizes of cuts etc. and act like it's a trend. i dont find you attention seeking at all.

  • I did it out of curiosity the first time.

  • are you from scotland and england? i love your hair i used to cut to, and its so great how brave you are to talk aboout it

  • @shira123l456 England :) you're American, right? only an american could muddle that one up, lol. Thankyou, means alot.

I'm glad you've stopped now btw, stay strong xxx

  • it's kind of become another trend in a way but

there are still the ones who don't do it for attention!

some people do it for attention, just so they can say

"look at me, feel bad for me"! other people who not

only hide it but don't share it with really anyone, they

really need help(please don't take that wrong)!

everyone who does it needs help, nobody should do

it, nmw! the people who do it just cause they like it

and for attention, its not a joke or a game! keep

    fighting love 8)

  • I dont self harm but i agree with everything you say :)

  • u speak if selfharming for attention is something bad ... u can only say per individual if they do it for a attention or not, not for an entire group of people. I have cut my face a few times (cos I wanted people to see it), I have gotten sexually aroused by cutting ... I dont believe in judging people for not understanding them. And I dont think people who self harm should feel bad about their reasons, however strange they might be.

  • @vervreemding self harming for attention is a bad thing, self harm is bad no matter what the reason behind it.

  • "Attention" can mean different things. Some people cut for sympathy because they like the negative attention, some people cut to ask for help when they can't find the words. People say "attention seeker" like they're calling somebody a bad name, when really all self-injury needs to be addressed. Just because somebody cuts for attention doesn't mean they don't need help or that they're a "fake".

  • @xxScarletSunrisexx You make a great point here, that while self-harm may seem attention seeking in some cases maybe the people are using it as a means to ask for help, i had a friend who only cut one time but told people right away and ended up getting some help, which was good for her, i have for a long time been angry at her about that and how she misused this serious issue for her own good, but what you say makes sense, she probably just needed help and didn't know how else to get it...

  • @TheEmmyR Thanks, glad you could see my point :]

  • i agree with u 100% but i cant like the video because my friends that dont no i self harm will see this video on my profile :( oh and i think it was really brave for you to show your scars :)

  • I think you speak so much truth, and sense in your videos. I wish I had the courage to do what you do. If you ever need a chat I'd be more then happy to listen :)

  • @xbornindiex i speak the truth and nothing but :) i shall get you to one day!! hope you do, you'd be surprised how much YouTube actually helps. (making vids i mean) I'm always always here to talk to if you ever need it xx

  • Omg, I agree so much with this video! I might make a video response to this. <3

  • @GaGaboy1997 aww, really? :D i'm truly flattered right now! tehe xx

  • @Downtownpatrol Hahaa! I aim to please<3 x
