  • The singer reminds me of the powerpop years Stiv Bators

  • GOD THIS BRISBANE 1979

  • I had never heard of this band until right now. They remind me of the Undertones or the Moondogs or the Purple Hearts. Thanks so much for posting!

  • Hands down, shouldve been bigger than buzzcocks. is there any magic castle videos? or spelling mistakes?

  • the singer is mark callaghan who later sung with Gangajang

  • Haha funny to see them so young, I just saw them live this weekend....

  • fazia muitos anos q procurava éssa banda valeu eu adoro estes cara!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent song/band. Oh, and I couldn't help but notice the comments about the Canadian Riptides below... I'm actually Canadian but The Canadian Riptides are pretty bad... I mean, I've heard worse, but the Aussies pretty much kick their asses.

  • BAWLLIIIINNNN

  • BALLINNN

  • HOLY HELL LOVE THIS 4 ZZZ Classic Great Brisbane Post Punk

  • the canadian riptides are complete shit

  • there's something messed up about the Canadian version. Uninteresting, unoriginal, unintelligent, non-entity of the big pool of shit that nu-skool punk seems to be. They're shallow as shit; probably don't wash; expect girls to fuck them no matter how stupid and dirty they are.... drink beer, get drunk, collect money, go home, play warcraft....

Yeah, big deal... old school punk had a lot more to offer.

  • @nzoz1979 in which cave do you live ?

  • @deichbeat look... skater-boy/man/child... this isn't the place for you. you don't belong here. just go away and do your non-thinking moshing with other sweaty little boys. we're not interested in your ilk.

  • @nzoz1979 if this is your real age -i am older then you ,yoda .

there is still a shitload of good band out there ,worth to go out and see them live -

but i don't want to disturb your graveyard peace .

  • @deichbeat like i don't know this and no, none of my channels reveal my real age. The digits shown in age indicates how many years ago each channel of mine was based in. Just because I stated something you don't agree with doesn't mean I am out of touch with what has and is going on, in art, cinema, music, global events, etc. If you took offense to my comment about the Canadian Riptides then move on? Why ask me a stupid question. Get off your high horse and let the rest of us enjoy.. peace

  • @nzoz1979 nonono .i was in defence of new(er) punk generally (who are the can. riptides?) .

my high horse is a fat pony .

  • @deichbeat now you're insulting your horse!

  • gahhh brings back old summer memories! :D any one know where i can find the lyrics to this?

  • these arent the faggots that sing five buck fuck are they? i hope not. these guys got talent

  • Hell NO! These guys are the legendary Brisbane band The Riptides - not the Canadian ('Five Buck Fuck' song).

Riptides were excellent - from their early punk singles to their perfect new wave-indi pop of the early 80's - they were truly a wonderful band and the singer went on to write one of Australia's great national anthems 'Sounds Of Then'.

    Fuck the Canadian band!

  • yeah that's what i thought. Did they release return to blood beach though? or was that the canadians

  • I think that may have been the Canadian band... I certainly hope they returned to blood beach and got sucked up by the sand never to be seen again.

  • That's the Canadian Band. Honestly, the Canadian Riptides are fantastic, you just have to be into that type of music. I stumbled upon THIS video while looking for Canadian Riptides songs and I can honestly say I love both of these bands.

I'm 23, by the way, this song is obviously timeless.

  • Maybe you're right.. we're probably being a bit harsh on the Canadian band. However, this band were VERY good for more reasons then just being a punk band. They were a very capable band and didn't just stick to punk. I uploaded more of their stuff.

  • oh yeah, joint efforts at the uni st lucia in Bris >/( happpy times Riptides ruled

  • God this makes me feel 18 again. they were great fun this band. A golden era for Aussie pop

  • Such an under-rated song

  • @tomr825, such an under-rated band - but if you're a sydney person you might remember Basia Bonkowski on the early SBS show "rock around the world" was a big fan and their clips used to end up on that show on a pretty high rotation.

  • so gooood!

  • How cool is this! I LOVED this band. This brings back memories of schoolies, summer & the refec club at QIT. What's with Mark's glasses though?

  • Killer song! I'm glad i bought the reissue on 1977 records!

  • A dream come true! Thanks again nzoz for posting yet another excellent rare classic.

  • Ohhh yeahhh!! :D

  • Oh yeah!!
