Absolutely stunning rendition..the Songbook album, for me, has the best versions of these songs..One man and his guitar, emphasising the loneliness in each song far more than the versions with Garfunkel. One of my all time favourite albums.
@MissErinLizybeth you are saying that Paul Simon, one of the greatest songwriters of all time, is nothing without Garfunkel? There's a reason why nobody cared about Grandmaster G-Funk when he did solo.Because Art Garfunkel can't play instruments and can't write music. He's only good with harmonies but there is no harmonies without the songrwiting. that's why it's S&G, they both complement each other so well. Sorry if I sound harsh and disrespectful, I'm not trying to. ^,.,^
Such a beautifully sad song ... full of sorrow for those who don't have a relationship with Yeshua... they don't know where they are going, and why they are who they are... praying Paul Simon meets the LORD ... the God of his ancestors, and the God I worship and love.
It's a shame Simon and his song-writing partner during this time in England never put anything down on tape together. I bet Bruce Woodley's picking style would enhance this cut immensely. Great tune..
Way better than the S&G version. This one is a folk-pop masterpiece.

Simon is nothing without G-funk. There's a reason harmony makes life better.

The reframe brings to mind somebody shrugging off death's foreshadowing simply because that's all they know.
I like it and it something about it resonates with me.
