  • Lasse Viren my sporting hero!

  • Ihme että taustalla soi Vangeliksen Conquest of Paradise eikä Vangeliksen Charriot of Fire, biisi joka synomyymi juoksumusiikille.

  • Mikähän tuo musiikki vois olla?

  • hyyyyvä lasse viren

  • 3:16 is one of the most motivational things ive ever seen. Not only did Lasse Viren motivate himself to get gold, he motivated someone else to run RIGHT behind him to the silver medal. wow. epic.

  • 4 ihmistä ei osaa juossa tunteella. :)

  • Mikä hymni taustalla soi?

  • @morbidpeki Vangelis - Conquest of Paradise

  • @korbendallas66. Listasi on virheellinen; siihen kuuluisi Anders Gärderud.

    -

SUOMI <3

  • Pre would of kicked this guy ass

  • @NFLmarco the "Pre" as you like to call him, was WAY overrated. the PRE would have got his ASS kicked against Kenesia Bekele , the "PRE" would have lost by 1 minute in ANY race.

the "PRE" did have American records, but everyone SUCKED at that time. I would have loved to seen more of the "PRE" getting his ASS kicked with the runners of today.

  • @Velvet4U Pre wasn't overrated, but he was only great on a world level at 5km. Against today's runners, there's no comparison to any runners from back then. Pre was only 21 years old when he ran the 1972 Olympics, and he had a very good chance at taking gold in 1976, if not for his death the previous year. Also, track was in addition to having a job. He was the most dominant middle dist. runner in USA at his time&one of the world's best. But, it was his heart and determination that ppl loved.

  • @dkperry21 I'm just curious. Who paid for his housing? Who paid for his food? Who paid for his travel? Who paid for his gear?

  • Lasse Viren on kaikkien aikojen paras juoksija!!!

  • IRONWILL

  • Onko noilla vaipat jalassa?

  • who is the guy who is watching the race and almost looks traumatized?? is that an older viren??

  • @heresjohnnnyy1 yes

  • @heresjohnnnyy1 I think that is Lasse Viren but after the run?

  • Comment removed

  • @JPYoshi8 Yes he beated Prefontaine in 5000 meters in 1972 olympics.

  • Puttemans without doping!

  • tästä saa reilusti motivaatioo juoksuharrastukseen. :)

  • Ihan menee kananlihalle tos lopus..)

  • Toinen jää makaa siihen ku Lasse lähtee pinkomaan HYVÄ LASSE!!!!

  • Hyvä Lasse ! =)) Ei oo enää Suomalaisista tollaseen ..

  • @crazyspeed10 who gives a fuck?

  • v"#¤%"#¤u näitä videoita vois kattoo vaikka vuoden putkeen!

  • mikä biisi alussa?

  • @smuliiful Vangelis - conquest of paradise

  • @was5ser Say what???

  • @ProudToBeAFinn Best stayer ))))

  • prefontaine!

  • Viren!

  • And this is not to mention that blood doping's effects last less than a month; six weeks before the games, Viren ran a 13:19, and this is not to mention over 20 races at the highest stages in 1972, spread throughout a period far longer than the effects of blood doping lasts.

  • @YiftertheShifter1 It is now meaning to talk about blood dope or something. It´s about 30- 40 years ago. The world was different. No one talked about these things in 1972. I think the long distant runners need a perfect mental train. When the men are equal the result is : What is your attitude ? You run 27.00 or 29.00.

The Soviet and the Eastern Block used so much dope those days, it´s no use to

    write the history again !

  • @YiftertheShifter1 Though Viren was the best I feel pity for Dave Bedford. He was absolutely better than his sixth position in 10000 metres.

  • In the months leading to the Munich games, Viren and his coach did a test to show how fit he was: Viren would run 20 repetitions of 200m and after each interval they would record his heartrate. In June, he averaged 30 seconds, 190 BPM. In July, he averaged 29.3 and 186. In August, after setting a world record over two miles, he averaged 27.2 and 172. So, not only was he getting faster, but his heart was much more at ease.

  • One of blood doping's negative side effects is that the increased red blood cell content causes blood to become thicker, leading to atherosclerosis and eventual heart attacks. One can conclude that the heart would be working harder. If Viren was blood doping at the Olympics as people say he was, why was his heart getting more relaxed coming close to the games? All the more proof that people who make this accusation have no clue of what they're talking about.

  • @YiftertheShifter1 I think the result in both 5000 and 10000 metres in Munich

in a real life. The condition they really had !

    10000 metres : 1. Viren 2. Bedford 3. Puttemans 4. Gammoudi 5. Yifter

    5000 metres 1. Viren 2. Prefonataine 3. Puttemans 4. Stewart 5. Gammoudi

  • @YiftertheShifter1 atherosclerosis? that is just nonsense. blood doping has nothing to do with atherosclerosis. blood can become too thick, but if that happens then the blood doper is doing it wrong.

  • No, it's not nonsense. Many times blood dopers suffer heart attacks as a result of their blood becoming very thick from repeated RBC insertions.

  • @YiftertheShifter1 yes, but it has nothing to do with atherosclerosis.

  • Is that Lasse viren in the video clip watching his race?

  • @Sichotic yes it is.

  • Yes.

  • Finnish talk show.

  • Tough man. One of Finland"s finest.

  • Just amazing how he trips in the middle of a race, and yet he still won in a WR time. I tripped at the start of a mile race, and tried to get back and win, but couldn't. Lasse Viren is my hero.

  • Kyllä jos keneisa bekele tonne laitettas ni ois ollu kierroksen ennen lassea maalissa :)

  • Viren näytti mitä on suomalainen sisu!HYVÄ VIREN!

  • Fell down...got up...and broke the world record. That's a true badass.

  • lasse oli toiminnan mies, perkele. siinä oli/on kunnon mies. Ei mikään turha äijä.

  • starck...........

  • Sisu!

  • suomipoika osaa :D:D

  • Poor Gammoudi.

He was the victim of circumstance, although i am not sure if he would have won, seeing as how Viren got up to quickly.

    But he might have placed.

  • only finns have that kind of power to start running in a situation like that your man just started to cry on the ground

  • wtf?

  • @lallijorma On niitä.

  • täsätkin juoksusta saunalahti on vääntäny ihan sairaan mainoksen xDDDD

  • "hyvä lasse" :D , jos jotain tollasta tapahtuisi nykyään niin räjähtäisin kyllä aivan totaalisesti tuolla selostuskopissa. No hyvinhän tääkin selostaja veti.

  • mä pyörtyisin koska melkee nytki pyörryin ku näin ton :O

  • On tää jumalauta niin säväyttävä video. Ei helevetti. Kun tällästä pääsis vielä todistamaan omana elinaikana.

  • Mikä musa??

  • iha kylmät väreet tuli :D

  • That's sisu!

  • One of the greatest athletes of all time. Of course, we shouldn't forget the great Nurmi...

  • I think we can all make a strong case for Viren being the greatest Olympic runner in history. Though you mention Nurmi, let us not forget that five of his nine gold medals were won in events that are now defunct; as for Emil Zapotek... well, first of all you have to qualify for the Olympic Marathon, so your first Marathon can't come in the Olympic games, and second his winning time was 10 minutes slower than Viren's fifth place finish. Viren and his double double: unparalleled.

  • Thanks for your good points, perhaps though different eras and epochs cannot be compared. For example, the food and preparation work in Nurmi-Zatopek era was very different from Viren era, not to mention the "modern" runners...but there was definitely some CHARISMA or something that most contemporary runners, even if they are faster than the ancients, simply lack. I mean all of these guys had some huge charisma, Viren, Abebe Bikila, Nurmi, Zatopek...

  • Yeah, I do agree, especially after going to the Paavo Nurmi website yesterday that this guy's charisma is... well, hard to explain for those who simply haven't lived in his era (myself included). Still I believe that Viren, given that he peaks exactly at the Olympic games and runs the most spectacular races there, takes the crown.

  • Concurred. Thanks.

  • I like the background music too.

Viva viren. Thanks for the video.

  • how is the background musik called???

  • wie heißt die musik im hintergrund???

  • One and a half lap kick... I'm going to try that someday...

  • Tried it... I couldn't really catch up to the guy in front of me, but I got close between 500 and 400, but my finishing speed isn't the greatest. Try again, I guess...

  • he's my hero ;)

  • well, if he used blood dope, we can say he used blood dope better than other athleticsin the field..

  • every athlete in the field was blood doping so the best athlete still won.

  • Well, at least you don't accuse only Viren, which is a healthy apptoach. HOW on earth is ONLY ONE man accused for doping. I guess he was simply so GOOD!

  • sisu

  • Vangelis - Conquest of paradise

  • Muutokset koskevat vaihtelevin vastuin teollisuuden koko prosessia.

  • Viren olisi voittanut, vaikka olisi kaatunut

kolme kertaa ja juossut vähän aikaa takaperin.

    Ehtii siinä välillä solmia piikkarien

    kengännauhatkin.

  • suomen suurimpia voittoja kautta aikojen.

  • Viren is the best. Prefontaine wasn't even in his league.

  • Yes, Prefontane did blood dope, but that is no reason to trample on his grave. His 4th place was outstanding, even if he was taking illegal performance enhancing drugs.

  • fucking ignorant liar

  • fagot

  • truth ? HA !

  • Thats not the truth!

  • it is and there is more...as always most people prefer living in denial.

  • Think what you want. You know he was clean.

  • they say always that the winners used

    blood dope

why the losers aren´t ever using blood dope ??????

I think those bad jokes of blood dope are

just rubbish, bad loser is always a bad loser

  • well i am not 'they'. lots of people who dont win dope too.

  • Any fucking proof? NO. Asshole.

  • Woot :O! That was something.

  • yes after viren

  • The best? No, but certainly one of the best ever. He was only one of two distance runners I never beat. I was in shape to beat the world one year, and he beat me like a redheaded step child. I have tremendous respect for him. Nice guy, too.

  • Who was the other one? I would guess Carlos Lopes

  • Emiel Puttemans of Belgium

  • SISU

  • Don't you think the second of the race (Emile Puttemans - Belgium) is great too? Congrats to these men.
