That must have been great having his Son come out. Marty is very soulful and it must have been a genuine time for he and the crowd! We are going to his Tupelo show in Londonderry in Sept. Can't wait.
I was also in the front row at the Blue Ocean, and he really was in fine form. I was the person who requested "Where it Begins" and didn't record it myself. I'm up to 3 MS concerts myself, and think the Salisbury concert was his best voice. Rochester Opera House was as cool as it gets because his son Shane came on stage to see his Dad. I was at the Hampton show too which was my first time seeing Martin.
speechless, as usual. i have never heard an artist span such a wide spectrum of human emotion with such truth, honesty, and humility in his/her music as this dude does. if you haven't seen him live yet, do yourself a huge favor and do so. there are no others like him on the planet.
This song changed my life at the Founders Title bluegrass festival in Deer Valley Utah in 1999. Although I had never seen or heard of him, after Martin finished his set, with this song no less, I stood up, grabbed my new wife's hand and even though there were acts left we made our way down the mountain. When she asked why I said, "shows over, we just saw the best guy here." To this day we are sure we had.
My absolute *favorite* Marty song and I missed it! Arrgh! I've seen him 5 times in the last 9 months praying he'd play this one. Thanks for the upload and glad you captured it on tape.
@MassTwingles So glad you liked it! My wife and I have seen him 6 times in a year and a half. Love him! My daughter turned me on to him. We met him in Lake Placid. He is the most personable guy we have ever met!
@barefoot612 I was at that Lake Placid show too in the second row! Fantastic show, don't know if I'm bold enough to go up and say hi but I do love the guy! My favorite Marty show was last January at Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, MA. We were sitting in the front row and it was an incredible show! The version he played that night of 'Gypsy Woman' was simply brilliant and it's on YouTube. Check out LaurieBarrett's YT Channel for a lot of great Marty live performance vids.
@MassTwingles Wow, my wife and I were in the front row at Lake Placid. I stole the playlist off the stage and that's why we stayed to see him, to see if he'd sign it. He did. I loved when he sat on the stage and did "Way I Am." The show in Salisbury was good and I commented to my friends, when he started Gypsy Woman, that it was a 13 minute song. He did a great job with it. We were on the floor, but about three tables back.
I agree with ya, Fee...reminisent of Martin's 1st apartment on W. Onondaga Street in Syracuse...the new songs are great .. but I just love the songs from the early '90's! Thanks for the memories, Martin...peace and love, Sandy C., Syracuse
does anyone know how to get hold of the chords to this!?? beautiful song, though it is sad;)
