  • Sluice CANNOT be used in the water in BC. Check Gov. Regs. Although, smokin weed is illegal, and everyone seems to be enjoying that! What the hell, sluice away!

  • ok this vid is better than the previous one I saw. I now know at what angle to place the box in the river. But how submerged does it need to be? Where in the river or creek is the best place? How much material can you put into the box before you need to clean out?

  • false vid nothing about finding big nuggets..

  • you are using music that is not yours, with no recognition to the artist

  • @jaysunzz Not to mention that using a sluicebox specifically like this in BC (Canada) is illegal. You cant just discharge suspended particles into the stream like that. I'm a noob and never sluiced or mined, but even in my beginner research I found this out from the Gov. websites...

  • @mikesmegabits Thats why I live in the land of the free!

  • @cauby43 not to free in California though.

  • 1 day at the river behnd my home and only found gold nugget big as a corn

  • what is the song you played at the intro and at the end of the video, my daughter is going crazy trying to figure out what it is!!

  • @01Woof The name of the Song is "Seven Nation Army" Its cool!!!

  • @MERCURHILLMANIAC That is a sun hat. You got to keep your melon cool out there!

  • Aw man! You're supposed to show us what you got!!! That's the exciting part!

  • Does the classified material have to be ran through a sluice box before using a gold wheel? Does a gold bowl and gold wheel do the same thing?

  • @smartstuff2buy How to use a gold pan is almost ready to come out. Stay tuned for further updates.

  • Wouldn't it be easier to use a metal detector or is the sluice needed for the tiny specks?

  • This is one method of gold mining. You may not have a metal dector that can go under water. Most metal detectors can't pick up the tiny flakes of gold so this is a good tried and true method to finding gold.

  • @cauby43 Thanks I will be going prospecting this summer full time. After reviewing many videos I think I have figured out what all I need. Thanks for the help.

  • @NowLifeStarts I have found that a metal detector isnt very accurate. A lot of the gold you are going to actually get is pretty small/fine, and it is usually under a lot of material. Also i have found that gold is usually accompanied by other metals. I have never had any luck finding gold with a metal detector and I have done lots of prospecting.

  • @vonkiser I won't waste money on an expensive metal detector then. Thanks so much!

  • I would enjoy the movie without loud rockin roll, rather hear the water dribble or rushing waters, there you are...I was hoping this wasn't a bad audio, like so many.

Gold is where you find it, 4 sure. Happy Trails, you are a good speaker, might try a wireless remote mike so you don't compete with the water. thankyou.

  • @HHammerHeadD If you didn't like the music in the intro of this short clip, please check out my other video on sluice boxes. It might be more to your liking. "How to use a sluice box" Hit the subscribe button.

  • great music at the beggining

  • great music

  • Whats the song?

  • @TestSubjectNameHere seven nation army..

  • @TestSubjectNameHere Thanks and sorry for my ignorance.

  • Would it help to run a metal detector over your material in your sluice box to save lots of time looking for something that might not be there? If you dont detect anything then you can always redo the process or is this just for demonstration purposes to show how the pioneers did this? Thanks!

  • @charronfamilyconnect The metal detector would pick up the aluminum and steel that is in the sluice box and be dificult to read. Good thought though.

  • @cauby43 Oh you meant the aluminum and stell that the sluice is made of? What about if you use a sluice box composed of a combination of plastic and wood(glued together not nailed)? Would that help? Are there any metal detectors that will detect only Gold by itself or silver? IF not then wouldn't these detectors detect iron as well? I have yet to buy one but I plan to buy a medium range detector to take with me to South America. I wonder if I would be allowed to bring one in my luggage? Thanks!

  • @cauby43 You scan the plastic gold pan with metal detector, also they have water proof Gold detectors that only detect gold.

  • @cauby43 not if ya sluice box was made from plasic, say PVC pipeing and rubber matting with plastic riffles!!!

  • great advice

  • This is the video I have been looking for, Thanks

  • Thanks for uploading this Video - Thumbs up

  • oh forgot to mention, Great Vid! I really like those old pics too, and the song. Thanks!

  • at 1:53 is that a gold nugget to the right of your hand?

  • @Nukedeuce thats two pieces of quartz, and another to the left of his hand. Looks like some chopped up bedrock in there too lol

  • Nice work

  • great presentation for the beginning prospector. very well thought out and put together. excellent job guys.

  • Great video!

You might want to rinse your bucket at pour it back into the pan. That way, you could get any residual gold left behind.

  • @DSurfer2007 yea I saw that too, a lot of times, there is a few good pieces in there on the bucket wall....

Also, I use the 5gal bucket for emptying because that same bucket is used for many other purposes (carrying extra supplies/food, gathering a water supply, banging real loud to scare bears, portable ice chest when friends "drop" by), but a much easier thing to use, if you can haul it your spot, is a larger tub. Getting the material into the bucket when slipping on the rocks is a b***h!
