i've been trying my best to figure our how to record in stereo through garageband. But the only stereo recording option only records in the left channel (hence my "once upon a time tag"). One day soon i shall figure it out.
You are not supposed to *record* in stereo - usually you record each track in mono.
Afterwards you can distribute the voices with your audio software. I don't know how to do that in Garageband, but you have to adjust panning parameter for each track - for instance setting the tenor track 45% to the left, the lead track 15% to the left, the bass 15% to the right and the bari 45% to the right.

It sounds nice, but it would be much nicer with a stereo distribution of all these tracks.
