OH NO!!!! They stopped at the WORST possible place - right at the climax of the tortured chaotic anguish that then heaves into a sigh of utter despair......so beautiful and so heartwrenching...WHERE IS THE SECOND HALF??????
One thing is certain: only a tormented, possibly schizphrenic mind, could have created such a dynamic, colorful chaos that is No. 6. Elation, depression, soaring, plummetting, this piece encompasses the emotional spectrum. It is quite beautifully exhausting.

just because you don't understand creativity you choose to explain it with things you also don't understand like madness. and you haven't even spelt schizophrenic correctly.
sorry i missed the "o," my friend. as a schizOphrenic and as someone who has been playing the cello for 37 years, I might have a small clue. it was just a theory. sorry to have offended. i also think many would who are "mad" would take issue with your use of the word "madness."
This is Tchaikovsky Symphony #6 "Pathetique" finale (part one). Is part two here anywhere? I hope it is so that this awesome work and performance will be complete.
we will know more hard facts about Tchaikovsky's death if they were ever to exhume his body and do an autopsy to see the true cause of his untimely death.I think he drank sips of unboiled water over a slow period of time and chased it with some arscenic,so it would look like he died soley of cholera. I wonder if his brother, Modest helped him with his death. If he did kill himself, we may still never know what specifically drove him over the edge. Remember he tried suicide once before.
oh god, sorry i posted at the wrong place and i found what i was looking for. still, this music is the best composing ever. its sick really. well have a good day and think of the master's pain when he wrote this.
Did you know that Tchaikovsky wrote this and conducted it once.. then i think either the night or day after he committed suicide... i did a research paper on him.. it was really interesting...
tchaikovsky died nine days after this symphony's premiere.

the conductors face shows such passion into the music. One can't help but find something within your heart to show such a beautiful story.
powerbird101 1 year ago
... placing it as a finale gives it a manly assertiveness which only rounds up a beautifully told story - just guessing:)

Although there have been many brilliant composers over time, it is hard to outshine Tchaikovsky...as far as symphonies are concerned!

I don't think Modest would have helped him to commit suicde since he was the one who saved him from it after his first failed marriage.

But that's the reason for the quality of the music. You cannot separate your personal emotions and your art. That's an inseparable unit.

The suicide is a theory. Cholera is the other possibility. And 9 days after he conducted it was when he died.
ItzhakRoxMySox 3 years ago
from what i've heard the cholera theory has been refuted because his coffin was open so that the public could kiss him farewell...
had he died from cholera, they wouldn;t have allowed his casket to be open
arihornet 3 years ago
Hmm...but this was 115 years ago, are you certain that things may not have been different in those times??

i am not certain for many things :-)
i just watched the theory about cholera on a documentary by bbc/nvc arts on great composers and wanted to share it with you.
