In the manga apparently there is only Hell in the afterlife (the Vortex of souls), but the Idea of Evil said "this is just the surface of multiple layers" makes me believe that veeeeery underneath the vortex there are another 'places', where the souls of the dead can go, so not all of the souls end trapped in the vortex for eternity.
Hmm it sounds to me like god's way of being changes as time goes on. Since the humans are in a time of hate evil and war he became what they were evil.
When they reach the old witch in the forest she mentioned to schrike that the ocean s a lot like the world of magic. Might have ment of its nature of being very deep and mysterious but aswell of how its connected to everyone.
