India is rapidly developing high technology and a resultant building up of their middle class. Because of the total population fo the country, there will always be large poverty figures in realtion to other countries, but these statisitncs will also lessen dramatically with an increae in theitr technology and time. Don't sell them short- their population makes them the largest deomocracy on the planet. Their strides in technology, especially space related, helps adds to the total knowledge base.

I am an Indian living in UK,its is quite common that the British and others will try to discourage us talking about our poverty.Here in UK they can't even manage 60 million people, a great majority are uneducated and living on government benefits and their children are under acheivers than our brilliant kids,there is no future for countries like this,we Indians are tommorrows leaders and poverty will be a matter of history in India ,You British and American loosers,get ready to be our slaves

space exploration and research on avionics and aeronautics can bring about new inventions and technological discoveries that may actually help people in different ways that one may image. did you know that more than 2000 inventions and gadgets that you took for granted came about from nasa researching them for space missions ? Space exploration is never a poor investment, even for a developing country with lots of poor people.

India is one of poorest country in the world with burgeoning population. These brainless scientists should open their eyes to look around them to see slums and hungers of their fellow citizens, and try to improve food harvests as well as business to improve their lives rather than trying to go to Mars.

thanks for your concern about poor peoples in india. but u and many peoples have to know that there will many goals for a country to achieve simultaneously, to have a stable growth of a country in every aspect. of course Indian government main objective is to remove poverty from the country, but u must keep in mind that its a big country so things won't change quickly.
