@ants4209 right, when you sign up for Google Voice you pick a local number (any US number actually) and when that number calls your cell and you connect or use that line to dial out, you are using cell minutes. What's free is calling from my laptop to my home wherever I am in the US. Another thing I use it for is I give out my local Google number because my cell phone is from out of state, so local friends can call me from that area code from their homes.

the way to get free calls is you have to add the google voice number to your contact list then add that number to your faves list, then when google calls you to make your free call the incoming call will be free, then when it makes the call for you it will be a free call because your using google to make the call and there on your free faves list

I hope people do understand this still uses your minutes. It has to call out to route your call. Its not a voip service that uses data. The only way it saves your minutes is if you add your GV number as one of your Fav. 5's or pick 5. Depending on what your carrier offers. That way calls through that number don't affect your minutes.

In my opinion it is the best - why make such a great device capable with many possibilites and then limit it to crap?I'm guessing you've seen what the Ipod touch/Iphone or even the PSP can do that the developers for the device did'nt either think of or even want to put in.Maybe if Apple allowed developers to make homebrew or some sort of utilities that utilize the device fully we would'nt need Jay Freeman(creator of cydia)and Dark Alex(Creator of psp custom firmware).

Have you heard of the OSX86 project - to run OS X leopard on normal PC's. The guy who made the patch got sued by Apple. This will soon happen to the group of people who made jailbreaking possible. It may take a while but it is extremely likely to happen. Say your iPod/iPhone froze - and you couldn't reset or restore it. Not even via the device - and the screen showed a jailbroken home screen? Then you'd be preety screwed...

i know, GC was the old GV, i signed up for GC, and i cannot send invites, Google promised, that soon that GV users can send invites to Friends and familys. My advice it, just sign up for the invitation list, and just wait. If you signed up for the GC invite list BEFORE GV (I guess before march 11th, 2009) you will soon get your invite.
