Come on guys, it is all so obvious. If a link is useful for what you are doing it will be good. If it helps the user because it extends the value of the page it is good. At some point, Google will recognise this fact. In that scheme, just ignore the PR crap while you are doing.

It would be so nice if there was a pre-existing network for niche's.. otherwise it's just random blasting. Having knowledgeable, friendly, respectful networks who appreciate good quality content. It's nearly impossible to get links for specific industries, especially regional topics in smaller towns.

I did not even realize this was the official Google Webmaster channel LOL! One good way to get backlinks is to basically own the internet. I think the perspective from the top of the food chain is different than the bottom where most of us are. Just writing good content is not enough in this noisy environement. It might have been 5 years ago. For someone to come from nothing they need an edge. I see plenty of very good content on lonely blogs and lightweight content on highly trafficked blogs.

Guys if you are looking for Best SEO. then just provide great content, And share them on social networking sites. People will like it or hate it and most of bloggers blog about the information on your site. You will gain a backlink too. But if you info is really usefull then you will get repeated visitors. Content is king.
