A gentleman offered to let me shoot his at the local shooting spot. first time i have ever shot a 1911, it was a very handsome looking pistol, and a pleasure to shoot.
i served 22 years in the military.i personally carried this taurus and it was a performer.i had no problems with this pistol in combat.believe me when i say this that this gun has taken a beating and it still performs top notch.i tusted my life with this pistol.
I really love my PT1911SSAR. Enough to have sent my entire upper off for the Tungsten Carbide plating to ensure it NEVER wears out! My ggggggggreat grand children will still be using that ancient device in the 2500's against the invaders from Beta TriEpsllon!
I looked at these compared to a Springfield, and bought this because of price. Looking at them, and taking them down I saw no real difference in quality. The Taurus was blued and the Sringfield stainless. Granted the Springfield was their entry level model. After firing this a few hundred times with no issues I am pleased with it. I might prefera 4000 dollar custom for some things, but for what I need it for ---why ??? Good gun at a good price IMHO
Right out of the box, I put 60 rounds of Magtech FMJ & JHP through the Taurus PT1911 with absolutely no feed or ejection problems. It groups well, but shoots a few inches low at 30 feet. I did have one problem. The thumb safety partially engaged (which locked the slide in battery) and I had trouble disengaging it. The white dot sights make target acquisition very easy and fast.
@GilligansIsle1 The thumb safety has relaxed a little with use and I'm no longer having a problem with it. I've discovered an issue with factory mags though. With eight rounds in the mag and the slide in forward position, the mag won't insert far enough to lock in place. So this isn't an 8+1 gun with the factory (8 round) mag. It's really a 7+1. I have a couple of Wilson Combat mags on order.
I have the Taurus. My shots are right in the 10 ring consistantly out to 15 yards. People have "pre-flinch" that's why you shoot low. Most shooters don't realize it until they see themselves in a slow motion video.
@Daynknight1001 The slide itself is considered the "biggest" slide release; if you're in a gun fight, are you really going to take the risk of not getting that thing with your thumb? OR just pull the slide back to release with your whole hand and take away ALL chance of missing?
Only reason Taurus has such a bad flow of hate is people don't like to see something good cost much less than their precious kinbers and so forth. Also Taurus had it's fair share of issues when they bought the factory that they did with old/used tooling, since then they have worked out most of their kinks.
love this gun I got the stainless version, My personally favorite and i own 2 kimbers (comander and full size) and gonna sell um to get another taurus. Like the way that new aluminum model looks.
@TheJmikesell yeah but what other gun could you kill some one with if you simply drop it on their head? Good gun.. no... excellent blunt people bashing object!
@TheJmikesell i hate when people rip on Hi Point..i have owned several in .40 .45 and 9mm....pistols and carbines..and after putting many many rounds through each i can say with confidence that as long as you don't buy the 9mm...you in good shape.the 9mm just doesn't have enough punch to cycle the gun reliably...i had many faliures with the 9mm HiPoints..but i never had the first problem with any of the larger calibers..the fired every time i pulled the trigger and actually where very accurate..
I own two kimbers, a remington R1, a colt black army WWI and a rock river and the pt is just as reliable if not more so than the others. I've had issues with all of them in one way or the other, no gun if perfect. If a kimber only cost 500 dollars people would talk bad about it as well. So get what you like and fix what you don't about it.
Stupid people, it's forged frame and rail and MIM metal parts, better than a plastic glock anyday and Kimber and colts and springfields have their fair share of issues too, Only thing is I feel better paying less for a quality firearm and having a problem than paying out the butt for a quality firearm and having the same dang problems. To each their own, if you hate it then why own one.
Dont forget to replace the extractor with a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof item. The MIM extractor that is supplied with guns in this price range will fail soon. Arm the homeless. Rape and pillage all who deserve it. Hail SATAN. Anarchy, panic and mayhem. Barbecue cats and dogs. :-)
I own a PT99, and I can truthfully say it is the finest (for the money) 9mm pistol I have ever shot. It's more accurate than should be legally possible, and it is 100% reliable after 5 thousand or so rounds. I have heard stories about other Taurus models, but mine is full of nothing but sunshine, lollipops, and happy days.
i own a Taurus PT 1911 and after about 5k rounds out of it i can honestly say that it is without a doubt the best value 1911 you can buy. It may not have quite as nice a fit or finish as some of the other 1911 makes but it has never jammed on me and performs just as well as any i've fired. Great gun.
@robs104 I've owned my Taurus PT 1911 for over 2 years and have fired a variety of and upwards of 7,000 rounds out of it and it has only jammed on me once. Also my ambi safety is still in perfect shape along with everything else. Seriously good gun for the money... if you take care of it that is.
@strainbrain777 Well i'm very happy for you, I don't like ambi's in the first place but i'm glad to hear yours hasn't taken a dirt nap. I always clean and inspect my weapons compulsively (half the fun of gun ownership to me). I've handled half a dozen PT's in the past couple of years and have never felt anything wrong with them but have heard stories... I've been looking into the STI spartan as I don't sleep right without at least 1 1911 around!
@robs104 amen brother! And yeah... there seems to be alot of bad rep on the PT1911 but for me so far its been so good. Keep mine at bedsied too. Some call it paranoia... i call it liking to be ready to protect my loved ones at property at a moments notice!
@GunWebsites I have one of these and after about 3000 rds all i can say is it works flawless. I dont understand all the bad reviews for such a great gun.And if you really want 100 percent reliable gun,get a glock, they smoke all 1911 designs.
How is the reliability on these things? If I was ever in a emergency mode, meaning I would be away from being able to clean my weapon for a while, how would this thing hold up, is it a go to war gun?
So save my $ for a Springfield or Kimber ? I like the modern looks of the PT 1911 (not the one in this vid) I have heard this is high value, but is it a no no reliability wise?
@RyanR3volution I put 950 rounds through my Taurus 1911 in a couple hours, when I first bought it. No cleaning and no jams that day or since. I put my life on this pistol.
@ike1371 my first time going to the range with mine, it had many fail to feeds. Put like 300 rounds through it. Wasn't limp wristing and did it with the 3 separate types of ammunition I brought. I havent' been back to the range yet, but the cycling i've done at the house hasn't failed since I lubricated the feed ramp. Probably going to have to get it polished.
@RyanR3volution 1911 by design was a go to war gun, it still is. Assuming Taurus stuck with the specs (which if they are to call it a 1911 they have to) it should be able to able to get a bit dirty, I don't know how dirty however, I have no experience with it, hope it helps eh?
You mean besides the Rock Island, right ? The Rock Island is actually a better made true to form GI 1911 A1 that cost less than the Taurus I have a Dan wesson, COLT Mark IV Gold Cup, a Rock Island and the Taurus. The Rock Island is the better weapon of them all..

I like the STI Spartan! You can get it for about the same price as the Taurus and it is a much higher quality gun and STI's customer service is rated #1!! I called Taurus a couple of times and was treated with disrespect and the woman that answered was very snotty and short with me when I asked her about the model with night sights. Crazy! I guess they sell a lot of these and people don't care about their poor service. Oh well...
Watch out mate. The fucking hammer-lock on that pistol locks up quite often during shooting, you had better get it switched out for a normal hammer and shear.
I agree with you but im a firm believer in running the gun strait out the box to see how it works without a clean and lube job. I always shoot atleast 500rds through my new guns before i take em down and do maintenance. But I always clean my guns after I shoot even if its only 1 or 2 clips
You're right. Some guns like glock actually require you to put about 500 rounds through the gun before cleaning it because they use a grease with a course mixture for smoothing down the moving parts. I found that out after I left my last comment.
taurus is solid man. It depends on what you want in the long run. If you buy a milspec and want to trick it out down the road than it would make more sense to just get the taurus.
@KC9MDO dude you do know that the dude fired off all the rounds an checked the gun when he was done fire to make sure there was nothing left i nthe gun.... also the mag was out of it. So in theory he did all the right steps so there shouldn't be a bullet left in the gun....
@papasmurftw yah i do to when the gun has been out of my sight. Other wise once i check to ensure that theres no bullets left in the gun then its fine. I still dont point it at anyone else.
i own same gun plus acc. rail and even same grips, never shot a 9 mm so couldnt help there, but i only wiegh 150 and the kick is no big deal even to me. this is my first gun owned, great quality for the price but i am now looking for something a little cheaper to shoot.
well consider this, you can fit a 9mm shell in a .45 shell and it will have a little bit of play, the .45 has alot more ft lb of force than a 9mm. but! most of the recoil depends on the weight of the gun and the caliber. so if its a heavy gun and a big caliber it would be semi equivalent to shooting a light gun to a small caliber
it has a little bit more but not a lot im 15 and i shoot a 45cal 1911 in uspsa and i can shoot just as fast with it than the other guys with glock 9mms
I believe that "assuming" a weapon is unloaded is the easiest way to find someone shot. Have you seen the video of the DEA guy shooting his foot with his "unloaded" pistol? My practices come from training in the military and continued on as a Police Officer. It's more than what I "think".
If there is one possitive side on Taurus is that they have a life time greentee on their guns. There was such a case this person I know bought a used Taurus and it had problems and he send it to Taurus and gave him a brand new one. Taurus may not be the best but for them to give you a life time greentee thats a great deal.
a glock 17 has WAY more muzzle flip than a steel 5" 1911. I can quickly deliver 8 EFFCTIVE rounds with it. If you need more rounds then you shoulda hada long gun or you shoulda ran away!
had mine for about a month now fired it alot with jus one jam... i have too say i am impressed with it. pretty damn accurate as well and its just as good as my sprinfield1911.
im thinking bout getting a 1911 model pistol the gun shop i go was telling me taurus semi autos are crap they break alot the life time warranty sucks cuz itll cost 30 to ship it then 30 to have it shipped back can anyone enlighten me on any truth behind this
the gun shop just wants you to spend more money i own 2 taurus guns now a pt845 and pt92 great guns i owned the pt92 for 6yrs and put thousands of rounds never jammed nothing ever broke i prefer it over berretta thats y i sold my berretta and the pt845 is my ccw and put around 2000 rounds with no jams and nothing brakeing also sold my glock 21 and my glock 37 g.a.p i hear people talk about taurus but only cause they rather have a top brand but i prefer taurus great quailty and never let me down
well i'm brazilian and the ipsc guys around here always say to not buy a taurus for competition, but that's because this guys shoot 2000 round per day, every weekend... they say buy a imbel (it's a 1911, but in .380), much stronger and reliable... Of course, if you're buying for self defense or carry they are great guns...
One guy once told me that the taurus is about the same as a glock in maintance and resistance, but here the repair parts for the glock costs almost 5x more than the taurus...
I talked to a lot of old head 1911 snobs at a few gun shops and they all said that the PT 1911 is the best starter 1911 and you get the most bang for your buck. Plus Taurus has a life time warranty and great service.
good luck trying to get a replacement part from them. all i needed was a spring for the block pin and they gave me a hard time. since it was only a dollar i just bought it myself.
i know and thats what sucks cuz as soon as the finish starts to wear it goes from a duotone to a triple tone and no one likes a triple tone gun lol. i mean wear and tear from proper use and holster wear on the finish is kinda a kool factor to me. but at the same time it can make a pretty gun not look as good. how did you like firing it?
i only wish they would come out with a forged frame. Dont know how long it will last till it splits i think sprinfield armory is a far better gun for almost the same price now
local shop in WV....about 1 yr ago... no problems with mine..shoots good for me..just killin paper and cans and stuff...i just wanted a 1911 just to have one...and for 1/2 the price of a high dollar name.
TAURUS makes an excellent product at a good price.
As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with a TAURUS product. The PT-1911 is an excellent firearm that comes standard with features you would have to pay EXTRA for in other 1911s.
But many people don't require ultimate quality, so they trade off a little for accessories and can end up with a tricked out 1911 for less cost than a stripped down Colt..
I bought mine over a year ago, fired over 1000 rounds threw it, loved it! Started have problems ejecting shells yesterday. During cleaning and inspection i found a big chunk missing from the rim of the barrel on the breach side. I guess i'm going to find out how well Taurus honors their life time warranty?
Cool, I have almost always heard good things about their service.. I've needed to use it once (long time ago) and they did MORE than I asked, I almost received a new gun so many old parts were replaced with new..
Good luck, let us know how it turns out
How well a warranty works is a big part of a firearm purchase IMO
Well I've shot this one and a few other PT1911s.. and while I didn't notice any more or less recoil, I wouldn't say it was noticeably less than other 1911 makes / models
yes, IMO this is true, the other .45acp's i'v shot had alot more recoil than my Taurus PT1911-BHW the 1911 is a really well balanced firearm and the recoil is very managable considering it is a .45 ... i'v shot .40s&w's and .10mm's that recoiled more than my 1911 .. well balanced, longer barrel, good griping area all equal up to a great shooting experience
The guy was shooting low because he was predicting the recoil can't blame the gun for that

what happened to yours for you to say that. I put 800 rds through mine out the box no oil or cleaning and didn't have any malfunctions.
I was disappointed that I cant put a conversion kit on it tho
twogunpacifist 2 years ago
@twogunpacifist
When you buy a new gun you should actually disassemble the gun and remove the packing grease. and then reoil with gun oil.
xXBallistic82Xx 2 years ago 2
I agree with you but im a firm believer in running the gun strait out the box to see how it works without a clean and lube job. I always shoot atleast 500rds through my new guns before i take em down and do maintenance. But I always clean my guns after I shoot even if its only 1 or 2 clips
twogunpacifist 2 years ago
You're right. Some guns like glock actually require you to put about 500 rounds through the gun before cleaning it because they use a grease with a course mixture for smoothing down the moving parts. I found that out after I left my last comment.
xXBallistic82Xx 2 years ago
"it works..."
but is it worth me passing on a Milspec?
im just not sure about Taurus Semi autos
drivepro 2 years ago
taurus is solid man. It depends on what you want in the long run. If you buy a milspec and want to trick it out down the road than it would make more sense to just get the taurus.
twogunpacifist 2 years ago
Good job putting your hand in front of the muzzle after trying to reload. BANG, oops no fingers.
KC9MDO 2 years ago
@KC9MDO dude you do know that the dude fired off all the rounds an checked the gun when he was done fire to make sure there was nothing left i nthe gun.... also the mag was out of it. So in theory he did all the right steps so there shouldn't be a bullet left in the gun....
Captmorgann 2 years ago 4
Sorry Captain Morgan, the first rule of gun safety is ALWAYS TREAT THE GUN AS IF ITS LOADED. =/
papasmurftw 2 years ago 4
@papasmurftw yah i do to when the gun has been out of my sight. Other wise once i check to ensure that theres no bullets left in the gun then its fine. I still dont point it at anyone else.
Captmorgann 2 years ago 4
@papasmurftw
Actually thats the second rule. the first rule is always make sure the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction.
xXBallistic82Xx 2 years ago 2
Correct sir.
papasmurftw 2 years ago
i own same gun plus acc. rail and even same grips, never shot a 9 mm so couldnt help there, but i only wiegh 150 and the kick is no big deal even to me. this is my first gun owned, great quality for the price but i am now looking for something a little cheaper to shoot.
hunting2414 2 years ago
How much more kick does a 1911 have over a 9mm? I just shot my first 9mm, and didnt think it had that much kick.. Ruger p89dc just so ya know.
Totenhosen17 2 years ago
the difference is considerable, but not going to knock you over or anything like that. Little more punch
1986GreatYear 2 years ago
Ive heard that the .45s have more of a push back than muzzle rise, is this true?
Totenhosen17 2 years ago 3
IMO yes, that is how I often describe it too
GunWebsites 2 years ago
@GunWebsites Some call it "kick".
isisncasey 1 year ago
Its a little of both, again, its noticible but not enough to turn you away from it
1986GreatYear 2 years ago
@Totenhosen17
On a full-size, steel semi-auto, yes. The heavy slide helps control the muzzle.
Now, if you're talking a 3" barrel concealable polymer, good luck getting that second shot as accurate, as fast as the 1911 in this video.
mchenj 1 year ago
its a little bit more, but if you shoot a few boxes of ammo out of it you wont even notice the difference between the two anymore.
1cme1 2 years ago
well consider this, you can fit a 9mm shell in a .45 shell and it will have a little bit of play, the .45 has alot more ft lb of force than a 9mm. but! most of the recoil depends on the weight of the gun and the caliber. so if its a heavy gun and a big caliber it would be semi equivalent to shooting a light gun to a small caliber
Eisenheim1234 2 years ago 2
it has a little bit more but not a lot im 15 and i shoot a 45cal 1911 in uspsa and i can shoot just as fast with it than the other guys with glock 9mms
dirtbike1911 2 years ago
.45 has more of a push but its not as snappy as a 9mm. i like .45 more than 9mm. if you hold it well recoil isnt bad.
baconator490 2 years ago 3
hey i like that Taurus you got there i got one black but the damn safety broke off i getting a wilson combat for it
WaltsTorino 2 years ago
tell me coz i want to buy my first pistol, in your opinion PT 1911 or 92fs berretta?
verdugofilms 2 years ago
How many times should you put any body part in front of your weapon? Check the video, the shooter is quite unsafe with weapon handling principals.
101pathfinder 2 years ago
think what you'd like, we don't agree..
checking the slide on an empty 1911 with no magazine is NOT the same as being irresponsible with a loaded firearm
GunWebsites 2 years ago 6
I believe that "assuming" a weapon is unloaded is the easiest way to find someone shot. Have you seen the video of the DEA guy shooting his foot with his "unloaded" pistol? My practices come from training in the military and continued on as a Police Officer. It's more than what I "think".
101pathfinder 2 years ago
OK well
I'm not going to defend unsafe gun handling obviously
I will defend his attempt to wiggle the frame on a pistol he was asked to evaluate
He unloaded the pistol, that is obvious, not assumption
You are attempting to find fault with something that I will not agree with you on.

@101pathfinder Good thought,, 101RECON

When I get a Tauras 1911 I am going to replace the firing pin and firing sping and put in a after market Wilson Combat firing pin and fring sping.
Captb55806 2 years ago
If there is one possitive side on Taurus is that they have a life time greentee on their guns. There was such a case this person I know bought a used Taurus and it had problems and he send it to Taurus and gave him a brand new one. Taurus may not be the best but for them to give you a life time greentee thats a great deal.
Captb55806 2 years ago
i would agree, but isn't it worth a few extra bucks to not need to use the warranty so much?
GunWebsites 2 years ago
You have a good point however, If I bought a Taures I would buy one used and if it had any problems I would get a new one at no cost.
Captb55806 2 years ago
is it as awesome as i think it is?
drivepro 2 years ago
it does offer a lot of features for low price
There are obviously much better pistols, but these can work well for the range, target shooting, etc
GunWebsites 2 years ago
brazilian gun hate the taurus if u wanna buy a good gun advice u a SIG sauer best german gun ever

or, just get a glock. grats.

glocks are gay.
ryan97303 2 years ago
a glock 17 has WAY more muzzle flip than a steel 5" 1911. I can quickly deliver 8 EFFCTIVE rounds with it. If you need more rounds then you shoulda hada long gun or you shoulda ran away!
yadidimeanmaine 2 years ago 14
had mine for about a month now fired it alot with jus one jam... i have too say i am impressed with it. pretty damn accurate as well and its just as good as my sprinfield1911.

im thinking bout getting a 1911 model pistol the gun shop i go was telling me taurus semi autos are crap they break alot the life time warranty sucks cuz itll cost 30 to ship it then 30 to have it shipped back can anyone enlighten me on any truth behind this
MADLOVEPRODUCTIONS 2 years ago
the gun shop just wants you to spend more money i own 2 taurus guns now a pt845 and pt92 great guns i owned the pt92 for 6yrs and put thousands of rounds never jammed nothing ever broke i prefer it over berretta thats y i sold my berretta and the pt845 is my ccw and put around 2000 rounds with no jams and nothing brakeing also sold my glock 21 and my glock 37 g.a.p i hear people talk about taurus but only cause they rather have a top brand but i prefer taurus great quailty and never let me down
oakcliffak47 2 years ago
thanks for the info i kind of figured that

you will get different opinions from different people..
GunWebsites 2 years ago
yea i know but i just want facts
MADLOVEPRODUCTIONS 2 years ago
well i'm brazilian and the ipsc guys around here always say to not buy a taurus for competition, but that's because this guys shoot 2000 round per day, every weekend... they say buy a imbel (it's a 1911, but in .380), much stronger and reliable... Of course, if you're buying for self defense or carry they are great guns...
One guy once told me that the taurus is about the same as a glock in maintance and resistance, but here the repair parts for the glock costs almost 5x more than the taurus...
ciroporra 2 years ago
i don't know also this is a 1911, so it can't be crap...

i like the new version they came out with. they widened the handle and double stacked the rounds kinda like the kimbers.
ambergerftriley 2 years ago
I talked to a lot of old head 1911 snobs at a few gun shops and they all said that the PT 1911 is the best starter 1911 and you get the most bang for your buck. Plus Taurus has a life time warranty and great service.
billyjackson0311 2 years ago
I would agree, but their service is .. well let's say a bit less impressive as it was in past years
GunWebsites 2 years ago
good luck trying to get a replacement part from them. all i needed was a spring for the block pin and they gave me a hard time. since it was only a dollar i just bought it myself.
ambergerftriley 2 years ago
gotta lotta kick huh mate!
0111100111 2 years ago
well a 9mm pistol might weigh 20-30 ounces, where a Tommy Gun weighs 10 pounds so that makes it hard to compare
A 9mm will feel like more recoil when compared to the Tommy Gun
GunWebsites 2 years ago
if people are comparing 10mm's to .45's, than does a 9mm have more kick than a tommy .45 (9mm bieng pistol)
BSA305 2 years ago
i am getting one of these next payday but cant decide between the duotone or the stainless. duotone looks nice but stainless is less matainence.
dp665 2 years ago
going to be holstering it a lot?
The blue won't stand up as long to holster wear
GunWebsites 2 years ago
i know and thats what sucks cuz as soon as the finish starts to wear it goes from a duotone to a triple tone and no one likes a triple tone gun lol. i mean wear and tear from proper use and holster wear on the finish is kinda a kool factor to me. but at the same time it can make a pretty gun not look as good. how did you like firing it?
dp665 2 years ago
guide rods just dont look right on 1911's to me :[
criticaboutvids 2 years ago
I don't know where you heard that but the slide, barrel, and frame are all forged.
roachtron 2 years ago 3
why didnt mine come with a nice case like that?
0Anynamewilldo0 2 years ago 2
maybe the early ones didn't ?
I'm not sure
GunWebsites 2 years ago
yeah that's weird
0Anynamewilldo0 2 years ago
i only wish they would come out with a forged frame. Dont know how long it will last till it splits i think sprinfield armory is a far better gun for almost the same price now
inkhustler 2 years ago
As roachtron said, the Taurus 1911 has a forged steel slide, barrel, and frame. The new 1911AL is the lighter aluminum frame sku.
You should research a bit before you attempt to compare guns.

beautifal weapon. i love mine.
i got a breakdown vid on this bad boy if anyones interested.
ambergerftriley 2 years ago
damn, those clips look soooo easy to load! unlike my glock 22. really tiiiight. maybe it just hasn't been worked in yet? any thoughts on this ?
fcarabat 2 years ago
Well these are single stack .45 (fatter) so only 7 or 8 will fit in there, so the spring only has to push so hard
On a Glock 22 the spring needs to push 15 rounds up all the time, so it has to be a fairly major spring.
So if the Glock mag was easier to load, it usually means the spring is not as strong as it needs to be..
So take a look at our video on the upLULA loader, it works really well and most people I know who have used it end up buying one
Hope that helps
GunWebsites 2 years ago
you can always get a polishing grade grinding compound and put it in the magazine well. then just run the mag in and out till it slides like crazy.
ambergerftriley 2 years ago 2
reading the reciept now....$530.00 even..
local shop in WV....about 1 yr ago... no problems with mine..shoots good for me..just killin paper and cans and stuff...i just wanted a 1911 just to have one...and for 1/2 the price of a high dollar name.
seedlessstrainz 2 years ago
TAURUS makes an excellent product at a good price.
As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with a TAURUS product. The PT-1911 is an excellent firearm that comes standard with features you would have to pay EXTRA for in other 1911s.

a bad quality colt m 1911
druisteen2 2 years ago
well lesser quality than a Colt for sure..
But many people don't require ultimate quality, so they trade off a little for accessories and can end up with a tricked out 1911 for less cost than a stripped down Colt..
GunWebsites 2 years ago
for me a 1911 as made for colt
like the mustang are only made by ford

do these new 8 round mags fit into old 1911's? its the same basic mag.... will it fit in an old WW2 colt 1911?

i got mine at academy about a month ago for @650.00 after tax and i have no complaints except for the cheap ass laser that comes with it.
SinistrChevy 2 years ago
I bought mine over a year ago, fired over 1000 rounds threw it, loved it! Started have problems ejecting shells yesterday. During cleaning and inspection i found a big chunk missing from the rim of the barrel on the breach side. I guess i'm going to find out how well Taurus honors their life time warranty?
va4rebs 2 years ago 3
Cool, I have almost always heard good things about their service.. I've needed to use it once (long time ago) and they did MORE than I asked, I almost received a new gun so many old parts were replaced with new..
Good luck, let us know how it turns out
How well a warranty works is a big part of a firearm purchase IMO
GunWebsites 2 years ago
I bought one of these last year. Had to replace the extractor before the first 100 rounds. It's been a great shooter ever since.

I hear the recoil on the 1911 is less then other .45 auto and acp. anyone know if this is true?
TexasDistortion 2 years ago
Well I've shot this one and a few other PT1911s.. and while I didn't notice any more or less recoil, I wouldn't say it was noticeably less than other 1911 makes / models
GunWebsites 2 years ago
Thanks for the info.
TexasDistortion 2 years ago
yes, IMO this is true, the other .45acp's i'v shot had alot more recoil than my Taurus PT1911-BHW the 1911 is a really well balanced firearm and the recoil is very managable considering it is a .45 ... i'v shot .40s&w's and .10mm's that recoiled more than my 1911 .. well balanced, longer barrel, good griping area all equal up to a great shooting experience
TubeYou8587 2 years ago 2
Well of course it kicked less then a 10mm, a 10mm is more powerful.
Heylookaneagle 2 years ago
i think it felt the same and that is very very mild for that large of a bullet, both my 357 sig and 40 glock kick much harder
ManWithAgun83 2 years ago
i just bought this same exact model but different color. just wondering if i can get a larger mag that holds more rounds for it though.
