People gotta do your research!, Open headphone means that sound can come in and go out....why would you get an open headphone and then complain they leak too much sound?? I could see people complaining if the headphones were closed, but that's what reviews are for!
great review, dude. thank you. am trying to find the ahd-1001's which is pretty tough. if i can't find them, will probably grab the audio technica m50's, which will be fine.
I got some HD 595's that sound really good, but I regret the fact they don't have the leatherey ear feel to them and replaceable jack, How do you rate these in terms of the clarity/trebles (presuming youve tried HD 595 before?) Would it be worth me trying to take the HD's back for these as I do like the materials these are built from... kind regards!
how do the 2000's stack up against the Sennheiser HD555's? I just wased $220 on the Sennheiser HD380's Closed headphones because i couldn't stand the HD555's sound leakage anymore, and while the 380's are absolutely fantastic at leaking next to no sound the audio just isn't up to snuff....the sound stage is a bit flat, the mid's and high's arent as good and it just sounds a bit closed in and mildy echoey.
I want the audio performance of the HD555's, but with next to no sound leakage.
I have DENON AH-D1100 AND DENON AH-D2000 .. i would say DENON AH-D2000 gives a more detailed clear pleasant soundpicture than D1100 (use the D2000 whit my DENON PMA-1510AE) ... so how would you say more expensive models would sound like??
@b98154 I've got the 598's too. I listened to the D2000's, Beyerdynamic DT880 before buying. I wouldnt say D2000's are better than 598's. They about the same class, but different. D2000 are closed, have more bass, dont have such wide soundstage, etc. 598's are more suited for classical , jazz and music like that , while D2000 are more suited for techno, trance, rock IMHO.
@b98154 hey man i am looking for those headphones you say
check headphonedotcom
you can see the FR curves of each pro headphone and compare them
examining the curves i found that hd598s are awesome for mixing since it has a really flat FR and h50s have a boost in the kick zone (30hz to 230hz) that may sound good but i dont know if its real for mixing on them.
is it true that h50s have more bass than hd598?
BTW denon 2000 present less bass than the h50s in the curves
Heads up, this is the promo code LSDA1025 you enter at electronics expo. If you're looking to get these, don't hesitate because you're not gonna find it for $190 anywhere else.
The D2000 is geared for pro audio live reference mixing/tuning, with unbiased sound boost at a certain spectrum, its driver has a flat response through out. View a series of video by Dave Rat on performance benchmarks of a bunch of headphones for reference audio. The D2000 ranks best for.
I heard the more expensive 2000 and 5000 (I think those were the names). Overall, I found the 1001 to have a more natural sound. The higher end models felt as if they were trying to add an extra subwoofer.
i am looking for something that sounds great unamped and stumbled over these.
2 questions though.
the 1001 have 99db/32ohm, the the 2000 106db/25ohm, so they are much louder when eg driving them through an iphone, could you please compare them in sheer volume like if your unamped audioplayer is 25 the most, which volume each one needs to reach your (loud) hearing level (eg like 20/25).
can you compare theis soundstage,is it enough for jazz/classical?
VERY nice review. The review offers more seriousness than your username implies! xD Anyway, I'm very pleased to see a video review of the AH-D 1001! Looks like you think about the same as the other reviewers I've seen, which is good. "Starting class" audiophile headphones are just what I'm looking for!
man if i was obese i'd be so offended from 5:40 to 5:58. LOL
generally all closed headphones with pleather pads tend to sweat in warm weather. i'm guessing you didn't notice this if you have an air conditioner at home.
Good review. I think appreciation of headphones is very subjective. What put me off about the D2000s was the plasticky build quality. I have some Grado SR225i, which are very decent, but reviews from experts and normal Joes always varies very widely.
I think people have to bget the open-backs wherever possible.
@D3M3l93 If your looking for sound isolation, neither denon's the job. And too be honest, the D2000 looks BIG and funky if you're going out with em. They sound great coming out of an ipod.
@blazinhomo Hey man I'm looking at the Denon D5000 n I'm mostly going to use it with my Sony X series mp3, yamaha rx-v665 receiver n occasionally my pc. Is it a good buy? I've heard great reviews from it.
@blazinhomo $419.99 on Amazon last time I check, but idk if I should buy the Sennheiser hd595. The Senn looks sick n i think u could go outside wit those on.
@blazinhomo Rap, Hip hop, RnB, soft rock. I also will be using the headphones for late night gaming by hooking it up to my receiver. I'm looking for clarity in sounds not so much as thumping bass, for the bass it has to be clear n accurate.
It is a waste indeed :') but mind not, i only wish to be -able- to use them with an ipod until i get a headphone amp/ proper cd-player and an amp. thanks for your view though! and oh, i'm aware of the appearance-factor, and i'm definitely looking for a subtle look (if that is possible with cups)
I know they can't really be compared but.....how do the 1001's stock up against the beats by dre? I know these are smaller headphones but want sound like the beats....but not paying 300$...if you know what i mean? Thanks : )
@JELLYBEAN1133 The 1001's blow away the solo's that's for sure. The Studios + D1001's are comparable. The bass is tight, i'd give em a try and if you don't like return em.
@ARKILLER95 The PXC350 seems to be the most expensive of those you've just listed. It also has active noise cancellation which means a hiss does exist. At that price range you should get the D2000, DT880 as my suggestions. However all ears are different and you should best audition some before you buy.

I recently bought Sennheiser HD598s. Do you think that Denon AHD 2000 are better? I am thinking about buying Denon Ahd2000 as an upgrade to ATH M50s.

abot19 1 year ago
@abot19
grado present a curve that can be judged as too bright
and if you check FR curves of the best models (grado ps1000)
it seems that they are playing with smile equalization
unless you want them for listening your ipod and bass-less music i think you will hate grados

@spacekris if you're looking for loud, the iphone has more than enough power to power the AHD2000's. Heck at 100% you'll lose your hearing.

Great review, i'm just looking for new over-the-ear headphones, mainly for my iPod for now.
which one works better with iPod, especially on-the-go?
Does the 2000's have markably better sound when using iPod and no amp?
Does the 2000's have significantly better sound isolation?

You can't compare the 595 and the D5000. Seriously, completely different budget.
