  • if you can watch this and not tear up then you're not familiar enough with the Boys yet. dont worry though, because in time, you'll understand, you'll get IT.... here's to Ernest "Trey" Anastasio , Page "Chairman of the Boards" McConnell, Mike "Cactus" Gordon, and the lovely Henrietta, the wolfman's bro, the greazy fizzzeeeak... ladies and gentlemen.. Mr. Jon Fishman! haha ... forever in our hearts, no matter what happens during their career. #PHANFORLIFE yes, it's a rant but its from the heart

  • I just wanna...reach out and give Page the biggest hug ever

  • i get stuck on this,. im glad treys clean today, yo can see the enjoyment on stage all four have

  • WAAAAAAAH!

  • Gotta love these YouTube trolls how they are making fun of the boys but have no idea about phish or music in general but hey you either get it or you don't, this video chokes me up everytime

  • i need to see this, to bring me back to where i was in my addiction., drugs kill and phish has healed.

    phan for life

  • wow, when the jam starts trey is just horrible lol but page man, hes pouring his soul and crying while he is playing beautifully

  • Page is the man in this video....Trey's solo is terrible...that's it

  • ladies and gentlemen page mcconnel is a saint. and he goes hard in the paint so hard that hes not afraid to cry onstage. SUmmer 2011 tour has been amazing. and it has most deff been PAGES HOUSE all fucking summer. page side is the rage side. Give around of applause phellow phans

  • this is so hard to watch..

  • guitar + weed = great. guitar + opiates = not so great.

  • @PetersJunta guitar+sober=trey

  • that was touching brings me to tears

  • I love you guys.

  • Such a good song.......

  • FUCK YOU TREY. FUCK YOU TREY. FUCK YOU TREY.

That about sums up my feelings about this video. Page, you are a beautiful human being. Trey -- no amount of junk would have ever replaced friends like the other three guys that stand with you on-stage. Thank God you came around eventually. That DWI saved you.

  • @Bah3932 Fuck You! The man was fucking sick, full of poison. Have you ever been sick maybe the flu? well take the flu multiply by a billion and you still havent reached opiate addiction.. Thank You trey for getting help so many of us fans cant get.

  • With all the complaining we do, "Oh they aren't coming here", "Why no fall tour?" this is important to watch. At one point, we didn't have them at ALL. As Summer Tour 2011 starts to wind it's gears, let's take a second and remember and be thankful.

I love Phish, I'm in tears as I jot this down. My god thank you.

  • This is powerful stuff, pholks. Crying as I write this...

  • i thank god every day that the boys are back

  • I feel the same emotions watching this that I get when I listen to So Many Roads from the Grateful Dead's last concert. It's like watching people performing a song while they are reminiscing on the last twenty years of their life. It doesn't get more powerful than that.

  • This was one of the greatest moments I've seen at a show and I'll never forget it......eventhough I was tripping balls;)

  • i hear ya it brought me to tears there and still ive seen this so many time and i still cry god i love this band they will stay in peoples heart 4ever THANK YOU PHISH

  • I watched this live via satellite at a movie theater in Fort Worth, Texas. I cried. There... I said it.

  • Mr. Palmer is concerned.

  • i don't know why but this is my favorite version, when i first got into phish this was the only and first version i heard that i got from a huge file of phish from someone else, i listened to it and could tell the singer was crying, i didn't know why but it made the song so emotional, and i remember being really moved by it. Later in my phish "career" i learned the truth behind the tears. Seeing the raw emotion and pain is refreshing and thats why this version has a place in my heart

  • where does he score the heroin? If its obvious the rest of the boys arent on the same level?

  • god i love page

  • * jerks pecker & cries *

  • God I Love Page!

  • I totally agree with both the comments! ^^^^^

  • goosebumps...every time

  • this is by the beatles you fucki_g retard

  • it's 2 in the afternoon, i'm crying. cuz i have seen this! and people are talking about peckers?

  • 2:48 2:50 trey is so fucking tweeked its scary.

  • god trey looks like a ghost, thank god he is off the droogs mmmkay?

  • I hope this NEVER happens again. I admit that i did not go to any Phish shows before they split up but I am attending my 15th show at Utica this fall. I love Phish and this does choke me up.

  • oh my god :( paige.. :( :(

  • man, i was there... i got the cam theatre copy and synched (somewhat improperly) the soundboard.... That show was a huge deal, the people walking miles still caps it off, craziest 3 days of my life....

anyway, great product! doubt phish will ever release this 2 day "Phinale" unless its the real one

  • *cries*

  • page gives the nod to trey at 1:24 because he thinks he's ready, he's not. i come back this every once in a while because it shows the emotional commitment a dude like page has invested in his work. awesome.

  • Let me start by saying that anyone who likes this has good taste. I'm over 50 and It is likely that I have heard hundreds of times the number of songs as the average person; and, this type of music has always appealed to me. No disrespect to anyone, but this doesn't affect me the way I see it does others who have posted comments. Alan Parsons Project's "Old and Wise," and "The Eagle Will Rise Again" are examples of songs that have moved me in that way. No one is wrong, but give those a listen.

  • dude u don't get it. do a lil research about this video. No one here is going to get all choked up about Phish and then try to listen to Alan Parsons, we are all going to throw on some great Phish to remind us they are back

  • @amoog531 I listened to the song, and I liked it. I said that it just isn't that special (to me). I then offered a suggestion to perhaps widen people's horizons. Why you are offended is beyond me. As I said, no one is wrong. However, there is no "we." If you feel strongly about this song, or the group, that is fine; but, you are not a spokesman for all Phish fans everywhere. The fact that it took 8 months for anyone to complain about my comment would suggest that you don't.

  • man, too intense and heart felt. leo is my hero

  • amazing. amazing. amazing. this band will live forever.

  • I met trey in tortola in 2000 in the spring and we talked for a while about shows, and song and i told him this is one of my favorites. He told me the meaning and it totally makes sense to me cause i lived it also.

  • page is my boy. best in the band

  • :'( So glad they are back...

  • PHISH SUMMER TOUR 2010

  • I don't like it phishheads.

  • So sad watching page. glad they got past all this BS and are kicking ass again. Phish 2010!

  • so sad

  • @lauren1704 i used dislike it as well, bonnaroo late night with lucy changed everything!

  • Have been seeing Phish since '93 (Leguna Seca Daze), love them and will continue to see them...but Wading in the Velvet Sea is not only a bad Phish song, it's one of the worst songs I've ever heard. There's more music in a bag of drowning cats and more lyrical depth in suppository instructions.

  • Poor Page. Just got teary eyed at work. Im so glad this wasnt the end.

  • I hope you all are joking. Seriously? Are these the type of fans Phish has attracted? Well, go home. Your association to these four masters is not appreciated.

  • Poor Page man...

  • yes Trey is in bad shape we all know that...but this song, as is most of Phish songs r hearwrenching- dont believe me? read the lyrics without the music

  • Ugh, this is so sad. I can't believe how bad things got there for a while. This performance is just a mess.

It really makes me grateful for where they are now.

  • @chitty1981 definately. i agree with all you said. but i still come back to this and watch it from time to time. seeing the human element of emotions is very touching. kind of reminds me to enjoy what

  • @chitty1981 i agree with you 100%. i stilll come back to this wading and watch it from time to time. it's a great example of the human element of emotion. displayed by page. it reminds me that i need to enjoy what ive got, while ive got it.

  • tbe987, You'd better home I never never find you, because if I did, I would kick you so hard in the nuts, they would actually turn into a vagina.

  • @jargar31 dude you're a douche bag thats not what phish is about at all you dont understand anything

  • You are a gaywad

  • obviously Subway ran out of sandwiches prior to this preformance and Page just couldnt take it anymore...

ha all jokes aside this is some emotional shit

  • so sad. we all know why.

  • if you need it explained, you wouldn't understand

  • I was at this festival. Me and two buddies drove up from athens, ga and actually got in to park after 36 hours in traffic. although the show overall was subpar imho this is one of my favorite moments in phish history. Paige losing it... omg

  • @stevo28fubu no shit im from athens. There right now. Emotional moment though. im choked up.

  • 27k-th view!!

  • yo jargar, you are a really big asshole...die slow fuckin deusche

  • fuck you, i hope you die painfully

  • i'm not even what i consider a big fan of phish, and i know they get back together often.. but damn.. this is emotional

they just seem to be such genuine people , you really feel how they love the art they give us.. and i suppose that's why we love them back. .. i may not get into the jams.. but i get that..

  • that is the most perfect explenation of phish. a lot of people think there just a stoner band but there so much more. well put man. cant wait to see them in cinci on november 20 and 21. gonna be an amazing show.

  • i get completely brought to tears, its so sad and yet the last 2 minutes are beautiful

  • so happy they are back but watching this still brings a tear

  • the goosebumps man

  • this song always makes me so sad and seeing page cry just makes the sadness worse. i was so glad to see them play this summer.

  • The Only thing that makes it in my opinion Ok to see now is that there is so far a happy ending and phish is back together

  • Ok this may be very obvious to some of yall but why is page crying?

  • This was farewell tour. "Last" time it was played. Good thing they got back together.

  • seriously?

  • @1rrelssek This was the last show before Phish broke up in 2004.

  • this gets me salty

  • Saw this at a theatre live .. I couldnt make it up to Coventry. I couldnt help but cry when I saw this!

  • how any phan could watch this video and not be brought to tears is beyond me

  • something about seeing page cry makes me want to cry

  • Chilling, multiple shivers up my spine.... I was there with so many others and all I could remember saying was it wouldn't be the last time they were on stage. Jsut didn't feel like a final show for these guys.

  • I remember everyone screaming ,"I love you Page!! "

  • always makes me think of this one whenever i hear this song. was at bonnaroo. awesome. great stuff

  • this makes me so sad

its all good now i hope, ganna be at alpine with all the phish phucks ganna be a great time!

    page you are the best

  • Why are they crying?

  • This was at their last performance before they broke up for what seemed like for good. It was sad because of the circumstances surrounding the breakup. The audience was sad, the band was sad, and it built up and this song made them cry.

  • I was there. The whole audience felt the sadness, when Trey took over, everyone was screaming how much they loved Page. Very intense concert.

  • i was there too. the way page felt durring this song is how i felt when i saw those busses driving away at after the curtain with...

  • i actually used to think this song was boring, but now i realize how great of a song it is

  • Page's face at 4:20.......

  • They're back for good

  • i dont even know why i favorited this

    it kills me every time

  • yea page is just the shit

  • i think the most moving part of this is when page makes eye contact at trey at 2:08, just asking for a friend, and trey helps page sing it...its so beautiful that trey even faces towards page rather than the audience around 2:12-30, i cry at this every time

  • EVERY time.... I cry every tim eI watch this. But I love watching it to. Go figure. BUT...whats this? WHAT???? We can all be happy again cant we? I'll be at Bonnaroo!

  • its so hard to see musicians past this veil into human forms...they're us, muscians or not, they're humans, they're us....this is proof....

  • no words

  • page is cryin he cant get the words out it chokes me up. but i'm criyin because there back phish will always b apart of our lives

  • page is the coolest dude EVER

  • fuck... this song is the shit and i get it all

  • mikes bass notes at like 1:33 sums it up

  • lol they reall do!

  • Ticketbastards ....those efferz!!! Yea...livenation sold them tickets whats up with that...we had to buy them from ticketsnow(ticketbastard sidekicks) for $214 a peice plus like a $54 service charge...bull honky!!! It's worlth it though as we all know :))))

  • i do think page is crying because its thier last show..idk and its sad or something...but.this song wasnt written by him. its an anastasio/marshall song

  • I'm sooooo in love with this song. It makes me sad to see them sad. They're wonderful. i'm glad that they're back together and on tours again.

  • wow...this moment gets me everytime...tear.....cant wait 2 C you guyz @ the ol'tweeter ctr!!!

  • duuuuuuuude...i'm so sad. two of my friends were on pre-order and said they were getting me a ticket and both of them didn't get the tickets on reserve and when we tried to buy them online they were gone in the time it took TICKETBASTARD to find the ones we wanted. i'm pissed

  • im seeing them there too!

  • yeah I know how you guys feel, I'm from New York, and we were always a stones throw from a show, now out here in california, we are a plane ticket.

  • i am a fellow vermonter & was at this/these show(s), such a powerful moment this song was... love how trey, mike, and jon back up paige and help him through this very emotional moment... so glad to see them back together! now if they can just announce some westerly shows, as I am out on the west coast... luv u phish

  • funeral of an addict...

  • excuse me?

  • i heart page

  • i was at an umphrey's show and this 'head i was talkin to summed coventry up perfectly: "the most depressing thing ever"

  • that was definitely part of it

  • gets me everytime

  • wow.....that kinnda fucked me up in the head

  • this broke my heart...from the highest peaks of sheer, utter, mind-bending joy to this moment...they took me everywhere, and i love them...they are a national treasure...

  • thats truly one of the saddest things ive ever seen. see you guys in hampton...

  • man thats the saddest thing i've ever seen

  • Drove 9+ hours from Philly to get there...waited in line for THIRTY HOURS to get into the venue ( during which they decided to change the concert to "NoEntry" - fortunately for me, they "cut the line" a few miles behind me! ) . Saw them for the first time in 1989 in a bar in Philly & even worked as staff @ Big Cypress ( "Best Concert EVER" )...there was NO WAY i was going to miss the "farewell show". Thanks, Phish.

  • How could you possibly be thinking about yourself watching this video. I am of the opinion that it was selfish nonsense that ruined the whole scene (for sober me at least) and eventually ended the music for us all, even the band. Pay attention.

  • This show was was not one of the best shows ever, but, it had to be done.

  • True emotion overtakes true art. The boys recover, however, like they always do. They have given us so much music!

  • These guys are a religious experience in person!!! Trust me....I am a closeted hippy, but still:)

I cry everytime I hear this song!! Awesome:)

  • Page... :(

  • when page starts crying and turns the mic to the audience, it's such a powerful moment...

  • this was and untimely end. somethings not right. but then again, phish was such an incredible band, such that each member was greater than the whole...they'll get back together. It has to happen.

  • It has happened! :)

  • very, very sad...does anyone have footage of trey talking before split open and melt?even sadder!!!!man i miss them!!!

  • so SO sad! poor Page!

  • they prob wont release the show because it was so bad.....they will be back and hopefully this wont be how they leave things......very sad.... phish 94-98 nothing could touch that it was on fire....this show is nothing what phish realllly is

  • what are they waiting for to release the coventry dvd?

    inflation?

page is a hoot you guys

  • lovin this footage. ive been watchin all your phish vids. i saw 32 shows from august of 91(amy's farm, auburn maine) till coventry(last show). big cypress and coventry are 2 of the most memorable for me!!! sweet vids.

    rock on-space

  • look at trey at 2:50 he is so high on horse its rediculis

  • what's horse? he doesn't seem to be abnormal

  • Heroin

  • Page was crying because the sandwich he had at set break was made on some bunke grille from lot. Page likes sandwiches, noobs.

  • phish is my favorite band this song is so sad i don't no what it means but its just sad that they broke up and Tray started crying during the song

  • me and my bro(the big phish phan)saw this at the movie theater, he began to cry too, really sunk in that they were done

  • I spent my entire adolescence and early adulthood seeing this band from 1995 to 2004. I miss them dearly.

  • man page played his heart out on that one. they all did for that matter. shit, what i wouldnt give to have been at that concert.

  • It's so nice that so many people have posted such excellent video's of Phish's last concert. I, unfortunately, didn't have the pleasure of seeing this show, but these videos do give me a pretty good idea of what it was like and the emotions everyone was feeling. Thanks, everyone.

  • soooo sick.. so glad i could catch this.. really the peak of their TIGHTNESS.. so much emotion too..

    naaaasty

  • apparently you didn't see any shows in the mid 90's

  • what a trainwreck.

phish went down in flames that weekend. thanks for the vid, though.

  • There was a ton of rain!! Mud, mud, mud!!! It took us roughly 16 hours to go 12 miles. Wow, you have to love this!! We all had tears in our eyes, it was hard to hold them back.....I hope Trey is doing well.

    Peace in. Peace out.

  • What happened there?

  • it was their farewell concert and i'm pretty sure that was the last song.. and everyone was upset cause it was the last time they would play together

  • Not there last song.... "The Curtain" was the last song. Page was crying b/c of the meaning behind the song (he wrote for his now ex-wife) on top of this amazing story that is Phish was coming to it's untimely end.

  • Damn that makes me sad.

I never even got to see them live.

  • you'll get your chance, their reuniting next year, and trey, mike, andfish played together at rothbury

  • you might in the near future

  • same here, and now i've moved so i don't get to see them in hampton :'(

  • Yup! Love them but if they're not into it then so be the memories. Thank you Phish.
